Episode 9
Gordon and the Double Decker Coaches
Gordon was feeling grumpy. This was making James cross. "Why are you complaining all the time?" Asked James.
"Because I am a splendid express engine. You're just a small engine that gets nothing, but ideas above their station."
"I can't see any." Replied Percy.
"Any what?" Said Gordon.
"Ideas above the station." Said Percy nervously.
"It's just a saying. Little green engines like you are too stupid to understand." Said Gordon.
James laughed, but Gordon was still grumpy, and left the sheds.
"Stupid inspector." Said Gordon to himself, "He got scared of my impressive performance for no reason, and now Sir Tophamm Hat is making me pull freight trains."
His punishment only lasted one week, but when it ended, Gordon got to the station to wait for his express. As he waited, Gordon saw four big silver coaches, with three stripes on it, just like the ones on Sean.
"Those coaches are big enough for a bus." Exclaimed Gordon.
Sir Tophamm Hat overheard Gordon, and walked over to him. "These coaches," he said, " Are not to be used until further notice. Sean is taking them for a test run today, and will see if they are small enough to go through any tunnels on our line."
"Why Sean?" Asked Gordon, getting even more grumpy, "Those coaches should be for my express."
"Really Useful Engines do not argue." Replied Sir Tophamm Hat. He was running low on patience for Gordon, and left the station. As he left, Gordon noticed something. His morning express left the station at 8 o' clock, but it was 7:55 right now. He had five minutes until it was time to go, but he had no coaches for his express.
"Where's Francesca when you need her?" Questioned Gordon.
But Francesca had to take a special, and a new engine took her place. Sir Tophamm Hat did not tell the new engine about Gordon's express.
Gordon sighed, "Oh well. I might as well take those silver coaches." So Gordon went to the double decker coaches, and blew his whistle. "Get in quickly please." Said Gordon.
The passengers were impressed, and got in quickly, and the shunter coupled up Gordon to the coaches.
The conductor blew his whistle while waving his green flag, the signal went down to show that the line was clear, and Gordon puffed off with the express.
Gordon quickly gathered speed, as he thundered down the line, "Hurry, hurry hurry." Shouted Gordon.
"There's plenty of time, there's plenty of time!" Replied the coaches.
Sir Tophamm Hat said that the coaches needed to be tested to see if they could fit in any of the tunnels, but Gordon forgot all about it. He saw Henry's Tunnel, and went faster.
The top of the first coach hit the tunnel, and Gordon immediately uncoupled himself from his train, and got his tender derailed. The front bogies of the first coach were also derailed, but it was nothing severe.
I'm sorry to say, that it was not the same for the top of the coach. There was a huge dent, and a lot of scratches. The passengers were more frightened then hurt.
When Sir Tophamm Hat was notified about the damage, he spoke severly to Gordon, "I warned you not to use those double decker coaches, but you went right ahead, and did it anyway!"
"I'm sorry sir." Said Gordon, but secretly he didn't care.
"You're going to pull freight trains until this tunnel is clear, which will take a very long time."
"Yes sir." Said Gordon sulkily. He was hoping that Sean would've caused the accident instead of him.

Everyone arrived back in London and the university dorms at 11:00 pm. As the foursome and the Beatles got off the car, Nicholas said goodbye to his parents and thanked them for the tour and for bringing them back. As they walked to the dorm, John said, "That was an excellent trip down memory lane, innit?" Nicholas replied, "It sure was, mate." Rosie added, "And you got to meet more of your modern day fans." George replied, "That's right, darling." "We love them very much, too." Added Ringo. Upon returning inside, they all washed, changed their clothes, brushed their teeth, and went straight to sleep. This marks an end to another fun-filled adventure for Rosie and her friends, as well as a very happy return for the Beatles to their home city. We shall find out what new escapades they will have in the next story.

The foursome and the Beatles started their train ride to Liverpool early next morning. They relaxed and continued sleeping during the ride. The train arrived at Lime Street Station at 10:00 am. As they went out of the station, tears came into the band's eyes. Nicholas said, "Well, welcome back!" John replied, "I-it's so lovely to be back here!" Paul added, "Indeed! I can sense our childhood memories coming back." "And I'm veddy sure our fellow Scousers will remember us!" Said George. Rosie replied, "They will, definitely!" "First, let's go back to my house to visit me parents. They'll be pleasantly surprised to meet you all." Said Nicholas. "All right. We're excited to meet them, too!" Replied Ringo. And so, the group started their walk back to Nicholas' house. The Beatles were overjoyed to be back in their home after a long while.

The foursome and the Beatles arrived back at the dorm at around 10:00 pm. After returning, they washed, changed their clothes, and decided to watch a movie before going to sleep. Rosie asked the others, "Did you all have a great time in Alton Towers?" Nicholas replied, "We sure did, love!" Ringo added, "It was fantastic indeed." "And I'm happy to tell you that while we were there, we have fully adjusted to your time period!" Exclaimed George. "I'm glad to hear it!" Replied Rosie. When the movie ended, everyone brushed their teeth and signed off for the night. This ended the Beatles' first adventure with their friends in the present day, and they are certainly looking forward to another one awaiting them soon.

The arcade was loaded with all kinds of games. There were video games, racing games, claw machines, and dart games. Upon entering, the foursome and the Beatles were given twenty-five tokens. They had lots of fun as they challenged each other while inside. George was able to beat one of the claw machines by winning a box of jelly babies, and Rosie won a keychain from a dart game. It was already getting dark as they went out of the building. The group then ate dinner and watched a musical fountain show. Ringo commented, "Wow. This is really beautiful." Rosie replied, "It truly is. It's also a great way to cap off our visit here." The others nodded in agreement. After the show ended, they went to the gift shop to buy more souvenirs as the park closed for the day.

"Are you mates ready for this?!" George asked the others while they lined up for the Roller Coaster. Rosie replied, "You betcha!" "We're on it!" Exclaimed Nicholas and Ringo. Everyone got goosebumps when it was finally their turn and as the car climbed up the steep track. Soon, it plunged down with increased speed. "Woooooooo!!!!!" They all screamed in excitement as they rode through twists, turns, and loops. The Beatles' and Nicholas' mop-tops nearly became mohawks from being suspended in the air several times. When the ride was over, the group went to a nearby kiosk to have some lemon-lime soda, which were served in souvenir tumblers. Rosie asked, "Did everyone enjoy the ride?" George replied, "Definitely! That was veddy thrilling." "...And suspenseful, too!" Added Ringo as he combed his mop-top back in place. After finishing their soda, the foursome and the Beatles decided to keep the tumblers. They then continued walking to their next ride, the River Rapids.
