Nessie clutched my arm tightly. Haven't all new vampires had those days where they miss sleeping? I know I have. Those days are coming more and more frequently now, but it's all of a sudden! Honestly, I can't see why I would miss sleep; all I ever got in return were those stupid nightmares. Mostly, my nightmares began after Edward left. Still, after the years that have gone by, I shuddered at the thought of my husband when he left. Everyone must have thought that I was crazy!
My phone rang loudly. I flipped it open impatiently. Why did someone have to call right when I was thinking about Edward? It was only Charlie. He still couldn't know what I am, so that made conversation so much more complicated. I remember the first time I ever saw him with my new eyes; he had seemed so..Well, he seemed younger. A smile broke out over my face, so I answered with much more enthusiam than I thought I was capable of. Charlie seemed baffled, too. That made two of us!
"You're up early, Bells," he noted edgily. I shrugged, even though he couldn't see me. Fighting the urge to laugh hysterically, I decided to tell the truth. He wouldn't take it seriously; he's not that smart! Besides, he probably doesn't even that vampires exist in the real world! "I couldn't sleep," I told him, disguising my laughs as coughs. "You're up early, too, Dad. Going fishing with Billy?" Most likely. Charlie's constantly fishing anymore.
Charlie's breathing suddenly accelerated. Uh-oh; that only happens when he's nervous about something! Impatiently, I waited for his response. Still, after 10 minutes, he hadn't said anything. My finger rested on the end button, just in case another 10 minutes go by. Finally, he replied. And I bet, that if I was still at home with him, he would have been a brilliant pink. My color. I grinned at the floor while I listened to my father speak.
"Well.." he began, coughing nervously. "I was hoping that I could spend the day with Nessie, if that's okay with you and Edward?" He sounded hopeful. But did he really think that I would tell him that he wasn't allowed to see his own granddaughter? Choking on laughs, I managed to choke out a yes. He let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks, Bells. Now get some sleep. You must be exhausted, taking care of a little one. Love you, Bella." The phone went dead.
I ran my hand through my tangled hair. Charlie wanted to spend the day with Nessie; how sweet! Did he always pay this much attention to me when I was her age? Angry with myself, I shook the thought away. It didn't matter; as long as my family was happy, so was I. That's how it's supposed to be. Edward's arms wrapped around my waist, securing me to him. He kissed my neck several times before I turned around. Standing on my toes, I kissed him. He kissed back happily before groaning and turning around.
Emmett and Rosalie were standing by the staircase. Emmett was doubled over, laughing, and Rosalie was smirking at him. She turned quickly to wink at me, then returned her gaze to her soulmate. Edward wrapped his arm around my shoulders, and I curled my arm around his waist. This is how it would be.. Forever. Edward and me, Emmett and Rosalie, Alice and Jasper, Carlisle and Esme, Jacob and Renesmee. I shuddered lightly at the thought. Edward sighed and kissed the top of my head gingerly.
Emmett led me to the boulder where we first arm wrestled each other. "You, me. Another match. Now." He winked at me playfully. "You're not a newborn anymore! Let's see how strong you are." He placed his arm in the right position. I did the same, and the match began. After struggling severely, I beat him. It took a lot of effort, of course, since he's huge but it was worth it. Alice clapped her hands gleefully; of course, she'd seen what happened before it happened for me. I gave Jasper a light high-five, and I kissed Edward on the cheek. It was a moment of victory, for me. That put Emmett in a very sour mood. Rosalie sniggered at him.
After running toward the window, I took a guess on where I wanted to go. For some reason, I didn't want to stop. Speed is something I really looked forward to, besides being with Edward forever. I stared back, forcing myself to stop.
Edward was straight behind me, with his shirt off.
He was an angel.
