Benjamin stood beside me. He looked confident. The confidence in his cocky smile seem to radiate off him and not to soon after, I was smiling.
"You ready for this?"
"I am" As much as I didn't want it. I knew that a fight would start.
The wind rustled the leaves, making the only noise around us. We stood their unsure what was happening, we were ready for anything . Whatever anything was.
We waited silently and Aro's coven started to get restless. We watched them shift and move but I knew what they were doing. There scene was just a decoy to get the message 'attack' to every follower. Quickly I searched for Edwards gaze. I nodded, giving him the signal to read my mind. He understood immediately and didn't waste anytime notifying the others. The warning had just reached the last remaining vampires on our end when Aro lead the Volturi, charging at as. The fight had began. Bella's shield protected each of us, but not from one on one contact and five of the Volturi members were aiming for Bella. Including Jane and Alec. They had chosen vampires to take down first and their main target was Bella.
I wanted Jane but got handed Demetri. It was a hard fight, even when I knew what attacks he was going to make. We were attacking, throwing, biting until I got past his defenses and beheaded him. I was disgusted but I did what I had to do and went to help the rest and hopefully take down others. Jasper's training sessions hadn't worn off anyone, the werewolves were dominating and we were all putting up a hard fight. Amazingly Bella still had her shield protecting half of us while taking down Jane and Alec.
It was a complete war zone. Jane and Alec were gone but more kept going for Bella and she was struggling harder to keep her shield around the ones she could while fighting.
To be honest I didn't think we stood a chance but we were winning. It felt good, just like when you kiss the one you love. A warm sensation fills you and butterflies emerge, in a good way.
It was over and we had won. Their numbers dropped significantly and eventually Aro called them to back off and they ran. A few of us went after them just to drop their numbers a little bit more.
We all walked around the sight picking up the dead bodies and dumping them into the burning fire further down the road.
As we walked among them, we did not only see the Volturi's dead members we also found some of our family dead. We lost a werewolf Adam, he had recently joined the tribe and a few vampires from the other covens. I couldn't stand to see all the destruction, I disappeared into my room and hid, even if it was against my morals.
It wasn't long until they noticed my disappearance and came rushing to me. Esme entered first.
"Oh hunny. This isn't your fault, we lost a few people but when they agreed to help they knew what they were risking" I looked up into the motherly face I love.
"Wait, how did all the others know to come?"
Esme laughed. "This has been going on for a week right? When you told us about the vision of them coming we got in contact with everyone we could that supported us for Rennesme and they said they wouldn't miss it." I smiled. "I didn't want to hide I just needed to be away for a little bit but I'm coming back now"
Grabbing Esme's hand I skipped out of the room and bounced down the stairs, like my usual self. Esme was trailing behind me, laughing and smiling.
I bounded out the front door, letting go of Esme's hand, and straight into Jasper. His back was towards me, his front speaking to Benjamen about his abilities and the best way to fight. Bit late for that. Catching him by surprise I jumped, wrapping my arms around his neck and whispering in his ear. "Haha, got you!"
Turning his attention to his beautiful girl on his back he found my lips with his and kissed them. "Your safe. No ones ever going to hurt you." Jasper whispered between breaths.
Catching on that he was no longer welcome Ben went to join the others to finish up the cleaning, before things got to mushy.
"You okay?" Jasper asked as he ran his hand through my hair. We were now facing each other, our bodies just touching. It felt nice being close to him again without the fear that the Volturi would come and take me.
"I am now that I'm with you" I grinned and kissed him again.
"Hey love birds, break it up. We need your help over here" Emmett interrupted. We both sighed. It's just like Emmett to interrupt a perfect moment
Despite our dismay we were there in a heart beat and very curious as to why. By this time it was only us Cullen's left, Ben's family, and Jacob. He was with Rennesme. All the rest saw it best if they left after everything was back to normal.
We stood in a circle close to the bush surrounding our house. Carlisle was the first to speak. "We have a problem. I'm not sure what we can do to fix it. If you look straight into the bushes you will know what I'm referring to." Jasper, Bella, Rosalie and I turned our heads slightly and heard the sound of a humans heartbeat, then we spotted her.
A black haired girl crouching low behind a shrub which did nothing to conceal her.
"Did she see anything?" Rosalie snarled.
"Edward read her mind and she saw everything from when the fight started. She was hiking or something. When Edward read her mind she was thinking: I can't believe I found them." Carlisle explained.
"Wait, does that mean she was looking for us? But what are we going to do?" I asked
"I say we get rid of her. There's nothing else we can do, we can't turn her and we can't ask her to stay silent." Emmett said. Silence fell and the girl didn't move. I don't know why she didn't just stay away, there are plenty other places to go then the mysterious Cullen house. We stood there thinking, trying to find a way to deal with this. Why didn't we know?
Breaking the silence Jasper spoke his thoughts. "I agree with Emmett." Everyone stared "I thought it through and he's right. As much as I don't want to do it there is nothing else, we definitely can not turn her and we can't risk our exposure."
"Why don't we just take her inside and talk to her. It may not work but we can decide from there and were probably scaring her more." Rosalie suggested. We were all up for Rosalie's idea when Amum spoke. It was the first time he had submitted his opinion but he made a good point. Amun, from the Egyptian coven. "If we take her inside and then let her go how do we know that we can trust her. If we get rid of her how are we going to make it look like she didn't get attacked by vampires and we need to think of her family. Were not monsters we can't just kill randomly." He was beginning to raise his voice "We need to bring her in and talk rationally amongst our selves and let her know we don't want to hurt her."
The decision was made and acted upon. I'm not sure how we did it but Bella and I walked slowly, up to were she was crouched and hardly said any words. We introduced ourselves, asked if she wanted to come with us and she basically jumped in delight to the idea. It was strange. It was like she wasn't even scared.
I looked at Bella, she wasn't any less confused then I was. We both expected to have to, sort of drag her inside. She stared back at us hopefully and then I saw what she really wanted. To become a vampire. I didn't say anything and since I had no way of informing Bella we walked to the house. She was in between us and I could hear her heart beat wildly. I couldn't believe after watching something as horrible as what the fight must have been she could want to be like us. It doesn't matter anyway because it's not going to happen.
Everyone was in the lounge room, we took her past there and into the kitchen. She sat on a stool and couldn't stop fidgeting. I sat next to her, my cold skin almost touching hers. I had to repress from putting my arm around her, I knew what she wanted but I still felt the urge to like her. "We have told you our names so whats yours?" I eventually asked, breaking the silence which seems to be happening a lot today.
"That's a nice name. Do you live in Forks?" Bella asked. She waited a while before she spoke. "No. I live in Port Angeles and you don't have to talk to me as if I'm retarded or anything." She said.
Bella fell silent. "Tell us then, why did you come here?" Trying to be me was harder then I thought when right now I couldn't stand to be around this girl. The thought of we might have to kill her and because she was human was too much for me.
"Well, my house was destroyed and along with my family, vampires did it. I wasn't at home then otherwise my blood would have been drunk." We both flinched. Amber didn't notice "I heard some stories about a group of vampires living in Forks and I thought they were the group that killed my family."
"And what you thought you could destroy them, thought you could seek revenge." Bella laughed.
Frustrated now that she'd been interrupted she nearly yelled at Bella. "No, not to destroy them, to join them." I already new this but when she said it out loud it froze me in place. Exactly like Bella. A heartbeat later Bella left for the lounge. It was silent in the kitchen, I couldn't be the happy friendly Alice I normally was.
I remained in my position next to Amber, for a while, waiting for Bella to return. Amber chatted away but I focused on the others, watching their decisions. When they walked into the kitchen, Esme in front, and started talking I wasn't surprised.
"Hello Amber my names Esme, this is my husband Carlisle and this is Edward, Rosalie, Jasper and Emmett"
She jumped down from the stool and skipped over to Esme shook her hand and then burst into conversation about her plans to become one of us. Everyone looked stunned, frozen in place. They didn't know she was so energetic and happy to be in a house full of vampires. The news about turning one of us wasn't news considering Bella notified them and well we have really good hearing, which apparently Amber knows nothing about.
Amber was starting to get into the details of her family when Rosalie interrupted her. "Sorry Amber but could you wait in here while we talk to Alice in the lounge room."
"Sure" was the only thing she said and sat back on the stool. Edward was laughing as we left the kitchen and no one knew why. Emmett rolled his eyes and Bella hit him, playfully, she gets annoyed when Edward intrudes in our heads.
We were sitting on the couches, talking in hushed voices. Suggestions and comments came from everyone but none that were helpful. I started to give up and stare outside, it was raining.
"Why don't we send her to Tanya and her family, they would have her wouldn't they?" Emmett said. Bella hissed, Tanya was still a threat in Bella's eyes. Everyone just laughed, Edward put his arm around her and squeezed tight. She calmed down after that. Carlisle was on it straight away, dialing their number.
