Humphrey, John, Angelica, and Kate went back to their den. Humphrey was happy for Cando.
“Oh man, that was so great!” he said.
He tackled Kate and recited what happened.
“He fricken tackled Scar and it was just like Garth and Lilly they got married like that!”
They all laughed.
“Then I…” Humphrey demonstrated and put a piece out wood on John’s back saying “I’m stuped.”
“That was the funniest part!” Kate yelled in pain from laughing.
Shakey, Salty, and Mooch came to the main entrance.
“Sorry, dude, but we’re beat from the invention. We can’t do it,” Mooch said.
Humphrey’s happy and handsome face turned gloomy and depressed.
“I’m sorry Humphrey!” Shakey said.
“I tried as much as I could!” Salty added.
Humphrey just had an idea, “Guys, I have an idea!”
John and Angelica have left by then.
“What is it, Humphrey?” Shakey asked.
“You now those box things with lights in the front that the humans operate?”
“Those things are called cars. I’m thinking about going to steal one.”
“Really?” Mooch asked.
“Who’s coming with me?”
The three walked away.
“Humphrey, I want to do this,” Kate said.
“Yes, who’s car are we going to steal?”
“We need a game plan.”
“Ok, good idea.”
“Don’t Garn and Debbie stay here for two weeks?”
Kate paused, “You’re not think of stealing their truck are you?”
Kate turned her back on Humphrey.
“Ok, fine, I am.”
“Good! Now we can steal their truck!”
“I can also find out how that fire and the loud noise happens.”
“Well, you get to find that out.”
“Wait, we were supposed to meet Derek tomorrow.”
“Oh yeah, I forgot! We have to schedule it another day.”
Kate howled to Derek, Hey Derek, we can’t meet tomorrow, we’re going on a honeymoon, when’s the best day to reschedule?
Derek replied about a minute later, We could meet Thursday of next week. Is that convenient?
This would only take about a week so it turned out, Yes, that is good.
“We’re able to meet on Thursday.”
The night passed, and Humphrey and Kate got up at about 5:20 a.m. to set out.
“Mom, Dad, We’re going heading out for our honeymoon.”
“Bye you two,” John said.
“Have fun!” Angelica added.
They set out to find Garn and Debbie’s truck. They found a hotel in the city of Jasper. They checked the parking lot.
“Humphrey, you remember what the truck looks like, right?”
“Yeah, I remember.”
Humphrey saw a black truck, with a camper attached to the bed, along with flames on the side.
“Kate, I see it!”
“Wow, it’s better than I remember! How are we going to steal it?”
“We gotta find the keys to be able to start it.”
“You’re kidding right?”
“I wish I was.”
Garn and Debbie came out. Humphrey and Kate ran under the truck.
“Ready to go home, Deb?” Garn asked.
“I sure am!” Debbie replied.
Kate hit Humphrey, “You didn’t tell me they were leaving!”
“I didn’t know!”
Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Synyrd came on.
“Oh we’re going home! This is the perfect song!” Debbie said.
“Yup! Let’s roll!” Garn said.
Humphrey and Kate jumped in the back. Garn used the Nitrous which made a sound like a thunder crack. As usual, Humphrey was startled by the noise. Humphrey rocked out to the song.
“Sweet home Alabama!”
That’s the only part of the song Humphrey knew. He just mumbled the rest.
Retard, Kate thought.
Another song came on. It wasn’t rock though. IT WAS METAL! “Death Rattle” by Pantera.
“Holy Crap! The heaviness! I love it!” Humphrey yelled.
“Ahh so heavy! I can’t handle it!” Kate complained.
“Come on! This is pure awesomeness!”
Kate covered her ears from the heaviness. They eventually got to a diner, about 1:30 p.m. It was somewhere in Montana. Garn and Debbie got out of the truck and went into the diner. Humphrey opened the door of the camper.
“Kate, Kate! Wake up!”
“See the table they’re sitting at?”
“Yeah, I see it.”
“Garn has the keys on the table. You need to distract them and draw them away from the table.”
“Why me? Can’t you do it?”
“You’re the better looking one.”
Kate sighed, “Fine.”
“Alright, now you’re going to need to beg.”
“I need to what?”
“You know, beg. Like what dogs do.”
“What? That crap is humiliating!”
“Either do that or keep being tortured with Heavy Metal!”
Kate approached the window Garn and Debbie were sitting.
“Look, Garn, what a cute wolf!”
“Aww, we should give him some food.”
Humphrey was standing right behind the entrance waiting to go in after Garn and Debbie came out. Garn and Debbie came out with a few fries and a half a burger. Humphrey went in and took the keys. He saw Garn and Debbie come back in. He took the detour route.
“Kate, I got them!”
“Good! Now get over here!’
Garn sat down, “Where are the keys to the truck?”
“I don’t know.”
“That wolf has them!”
Garn got up and started running. Humphrey and Kate got into the truck. Humphrey realized it wasn’t going to be as easy as he thought. He also saw Garn running out of the restaurant.
“Oh, How do I operate this thing? How do I operate thing?” Humphrey whimpered to himself.
Humphrey put the keys in the ignition and started the truck. Garn was getting close.
“Crap, crap, crap!”
Humphrey put his foot on the brake and put the truck in reverse. He let go of the brake and lightly tapped the gas pedal. He backed out of the parking spot, missing Garn by an inch. Humphrey sped off.
Garn kicked a rock, “Crap!”
“Don’t worry, Garn, it’s just a truck.”
“It had our wedding ring!”
“What!? You come back here!”
“Whoa, Debbie, we’ll find it hopefully.”
Humphrey took the freeway entrance and went about 12 MPH on the freeway. There was a cop rolling behind him.
“Look at those lights, Kate. What does it mean?”
“It means you have to stop.”
Humphrey stopped in the middle of the lane. The cop approached Humphrey.
“Hi big human in a blue suit.”
The cop looked puzzled.
“Do you know how fast you were going?”
“How fast you were going.”
“Blue suit guy, isn’t the speed limit 65?”
“Yes it is. Also people usually pull over to the side of the road.”
“I’m going to have to ask you to step out of the vehicle.’
Humphrey stepped out.
“I want to see your real face!”
Thee cop tried pulling off Humphrey’s head.
“Ahh! Ahh! Why do they hurt me?”
“Take off that suit or I will have to arrest you.”
“A driving wolf? Ok, I’m going to let you go, but start doing 70 to your destination.”
“Ok, bye officer.”
Humphrey sped off. He was going 70 MPH. They were heading to Seattle, Washington.
