I am an history/ animation movie freak. I am so passionnate about this that I decided to share it with other fans. First, I must apologize for all the mistakes I will probably make ( I am not a good writer, sorry!).

I will tell you some interesting facts about the last Tsar (Nicolas II or Anastasia father).

He is the son of Alexander III and Maria feodorovna and was born in 1868. So, in the beginning of the movie, he was 48 years old.

By the family of his mother (both mother were sisters) he was the cousin of King Georges V of England. The amazing thing about this, is that both monarch really look-alike (as you can see below). This give birth to some misunderstanding where ambassadors did actually mixed-up the two men. That must have been funny situations.

He was really in love with his wife when he married her and was seen by a lot of his friend like a good father. The movie is right on this part.

As you can see in the first picture, The movie began in 1916 with a great ball.

The problem about it, is that, in reality, this ball occurred in 1903. It was a fancy-dress ball where the guesses had to wear traditional russian aristocratic costume (and, no, the Russians didn't always wear those clothes!).

An other interesting fact about time, that I will explain to you, is something that people looking at the movie won't notice but in screencaps it became obvious. Look at the pictures below.

In all the photo the red lines show you that there is a lot of "300" (it may not be ovious at that size).

Okay, I will warn you, this is my opinion. Anastasia, to me, was a typical princessy story loosely based on a real person and that ends happily. basically the same thing as Disney's Pocahontas, but Pocahontas doesn't have a happy ending. Anastasia isn't a terrible movie, but it isn't the type of movie that I enjoy. I mean, the animation was gorgeous for an American artist but something about the story makes me unhappy. That is strange, I know but I like a movie with a not so happy ending. I have to say, this is my least favorite animated movie so far. I don't like movies that end happily.

There is one thing I like about Anya in the whole movie. that she isn't the type of girl to be pushed around. Very independent woman, which gets her some points from me. And the music in this show was wonderful. My favorite song was Once Upon A December. Oh and this might be strange, but this movie reminds me of an anime called Code Geass. I think it was the plots and the character scenarios. But that is just me. If they had this movie in anime style with English subtitles, I think I would have liked it a lot better. But the English version is gorgeous too. Like I said, it may be my...
