Reading on tumblr that Gwen was harboring secret feelings for Lancelot while engaged to Arthur; and Morgana would not have been able to used Lancelot without Gwen still having feelings for him. Say what? I respectfully disagree. Sometimes I wonder if we are all watching the same show.

Regarding Gwen’s supposed feelings for Lancelot: Gwen did not harbor any secret love for Lancelot while engaged to Arthur. At the start of series 4, one year had elapsed since Lancelot returned fulltime to Camelot as a knight, yet during that time Gwen and Arthur were going strong. Their love deepened, and there was no doubt who she was in love with. During that time Gwen was not torn between Arthur and Lancelot. Hell when Arthur and the knights were going off on a quest to save Camelot in episode 1 of Series 4, Gwen’s only thought was about keeping Arthur safe. So concerned that she was for Arthur that she ask Lancelot to protect him for her. Did people forget the following conversation: Gwen: “Will you grant me a favor?” Lancelot: “Anything.” Gwen looking towards Arthur: “Look after him, bring him home.” Lancelot: “I will protect him with my life I promise.” Gwen: “Thank you.” Does the conversation sound like someone harboring a secret love for a once upon, almost boyfriend? No it does not. It sounds like/ and looks like someone concerned about the man she loves (Arthur) and asking a knight whom she knows would honor his word, to protect the man she loves.

Regarding using Lancelot against Gwen: Morgana who hasn’t interacted with Gwen in over a year, who is grasping at straws to try to find something to destroy her former quasi-friend, Gwen, reanimates Lancelot with the hope that he could destroy Gwen. The fact that Morgana claims that Lancelot is a weakness for Gwen, does not make it the bloody gospel, e.g. the truth. It was Morgana’s HOPE that Lancelot, her weapon of choice against Gwen, would put an end to Arthur and Gwen’s relationship. If Morgana knew for a fact that Lancelot would be able to destroy Gwen without the aide of witchcraft, then she would never have enchanted a bracelet and have her puppet Lancelot give it to Gwen. If Gwen was harboring secret feelings for Lancelot then the following conversation between Agravaine and Morgana would not have taken place: After Agravaine reports to Morgana that Arthur and the knights were completely taken in with Lancelot the zombie, Morgana asked “And Gwen this must be the last thing she hoped for the eve of her wedding?” Agravaine: “If she was flustered she certainly did not show it. I fear that she truly does love Arthur. Anything she had for Lancelot is in the past.” Morgana: “I’ve considered that eventuality.” Morgana pulls out a bracelet, and proceeds to enchant it. She returns the bracelet to Agravaine with the words “It is time to re-awaken those feelings.” If Gwen was in love with Lancelot while with Arthur, why would an enchantment be needed to get her to betray Arthur? An enchantment was needed because whatever Gwen once felt for Lancelot was long gone. Yet, despite the enchanted bracelet, once a devastated Gwen realized what she had done, that she had she unwittingly hurt Arthur, the man she loved, she broke through the enchantment, and removed the bracelet, thus ending its hold on her.

Sorry, don’t see this secret love that Gwen had for Lancelot.
