Part 16: link

“Merlin, where are you going?” Gwaine asks, sitting up from where he was lounging on his bed, an inexplicable chicken leg in his hand.
“Where’d you get that?” Merlin answers, slinging a leather satchel over his shoulder.
“Answer my question first,” Gwaine demands, taking a bite of his chicken.
“I’m going out. Now how did you get that leg?”
“You call that an answer? Hollis gave me this chicken, obviously. Now where. Are you going?”
Merlin sighs. “I’m going to meet Odras.”
    “The druid?”
“Yes. I’m going to return the Cup of Life to him for safekeeping.”
“Does Arthur know?” he asks carefully.

I'll Be Mary, You Be Joseph - PG - Fluff - Warnings: Not really! Just some little!Gwen and little!Arthur

A/N: This is the last fic I wrote for the ag-fics Christmas 2012 Fic Exchange. This one was in response to lillypad9090's prompt which was: A/G as kids as Mary and Joseph in the school nativity! This little fic has not been edited, so any mistakes are entirely my fault.

Excitement and nervousness can be felt in the air as little children prepare for Albion Primary School's annual School Nativity play, but not as much as little 12 year old Arthur Pendragon.

His father demanded that this year he make an effort in getting involved with school activities and events. When, to be honest, Arthur preferred watching the play amongst his friends as they made bets on who would be the first to muck up their lines; which one of them inevitably did, making Arthur very happy indeed when he won 20 pounds.

A Baby For Christmas - PG/ bordering on light M - Family - Warning: some language.

A/N: Written for the Christmas 2012 Fic Exchange over at ag-fics. This is dedicated to kbrand5333 who requested the following prompt: Baby for Christmas. Gwen either tells Arthur she's pregnant at Christmas or she goes into labor with their first child Christmas morning (preferably the 2nd option, but author's choice). I hope you like it Kim! And Merry Christmas!

Once again, this has not been edited. So any mistakes are my fault!

~*~

It started early Christmas Day. Arthur felt his wife tossing and turning more than usual, before she let out a huge gasp, like she was in early shattering pain. Then a "fuck", and Arthur shot up faster than a rocket, before he placed his arm around her shoulder.

"What's wrong?" He asked, voice filled with concern, though it was also laced with excitement. They were going to be parents finally. After three years of failed IVF treatments and none of the embryos working. They...

Christmas Surprise - PG - Fluff/Romance - Modern AU

A/N: This fic was written for the ag-fics Christmas Fic Exchange. mara93 requested the following prompt: On Christmas Eve, Arthur secretly leaves a decorated Christmas tree for Gwen who is dealing with one hardship after another. She finds out who it came from somehow. Can be modern or medieval AU. Either's lovely. :)

Please note: this hasn't been edited. Just by me. Any mistakes are mine!

~*~

When Arthur looks back on last Christmas, he secretly smiles. For that was the day that his whole life changed, that he took a chance and managed to capture his true love's heart, the very woman who was currently wrapped in his warm embrace.

He just couldn't believe that he didn't act sooner. That he didn't make his intentions known to her earlier.

[i]Arthur stands outside the house, unsure. Wondering whether his plan was a good idea. Thinking about Gwen's on and off relationship with Lancelot, her brother returning from Iraq (he was serving in the Air Forces). But most regrettably how her brother has just died, which was not that long after Lancelot...

More Than Enough

Prompt: Arthur is an artist. He needs a model and he paints nudes. Gwen is a model in need some quick Christmas cash.

Gwen looks at her phone again, checking the address. 397 Chestnut Lane. She sighs and walks up the four steps to the door and presses the bell.

“Yes?” a smooth baritone voice answers a moment later.

“Um, hello, this is Gwen Leodegrance. The model you hired?” she winces, hating that the last bit turned into a question. She’s never seen this Arthur Pendragon (if that is his real name) before, but he has the sexiest voice she’s ever heard, and it’s been gnawing at her for two days.

“Third floor, apartment B,” the voice tells her, and the door buzzes. She opens it and hurries inside, out of the cold.

Crackers

Prompt: Christmas cracker

If you don’t know what these are (from Wikipedia):
Christmas crackers, Christmas poppers or bon-bons are part of Christmas celebrations in the UK and Commonwealth countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as the USA to a lesser degree. They are also popular in Ireland. A cracker consists of a cardboard tube wrapped in a brightly decorated twist of paper, making it resemble an oversized sweet-wrapper. The cracker is pulled by two people, and, much in the manner of a wishbone, the cracker splits unevenly. The split is accompanied by a small bang or snapping sound. …Typically [the] contents are a colored paper hat or crown; a small toy, small plastic model or other trinket and a motto, a joke, a riddle or piece of trivia on a small strip of paper.

The Snow King
Disclaimer: post S5 period AU. Everyone is alive, Morgana knows about Merlin’s magic and is a diminished villain.

Prompt: Merlin the sorcerer accidentally turns Arthur into a snowman. The cure? He must be kissed by his true love, Gwen. The problem? Morgana, a sorceress, has fun by multiplying the amount of snowmen to hundreds. Can Gwen find the right one before Arthur melts by the sun? True love must decide.

“Merlin, this isn’t working,” Arthur complains, the snowball disintegrating in his glove. Again. He tosses the remaining snow back on the ground as if he is punishing it.

“I told you it wouldn’t, Arthur,” Merlin says, sighing and shivering at the same time. “I told you that this is the wrong kind of snow.”

“What on earth does that even mean, ‘Wrong kind of snow’? It’s snow!”

Cookies

Prompt: Arthur and Gwen bake Christmas cookies together

“Merlin, can you help me with—” Arthur stops cold, staring at the person in his kitchen. “You’re not Merlin,” he says dumbly, finishing pulling his tie free from its knot.

“Hi, Arthur,” Gwen answers, chuckling. She is measuring flour into a bowl. “Sorry, Merlin took an extra shift at the hospital. My oven is broken, and he said I could bake my Christmas cookies here. Hope that’s okay.”

“Um, yeah,” he stammers. “It’s fine, Guinevere.” Arthur is thrown by her appearance in their apartment. Certainly he knew Guinevere. Well, he’d met her once or twice through Merlin. He didn’t work at the hospital with them, preferring a life of mergers and acquisitions over saving people’s lives.

Quiet Noises

Prompt: A/G get it on at the work Christmas party, but what they did not expect was that the rest of the party could hear them.

“Where’s Arthur?” Merlin sidles up beside Gwaine, reaching around him to the punchbowl. “Put that flask away,” he chides his friend, just as he is about to spike the punch.

“What? It’s just pineapple juice,” Gwaine claims innocently, and Merlin snatches the flask from his hand, opens it, and sniffs.

“Sure, fermented pineapple juice,” he rolls his eyes. “That’s rum.”

“Yo ho ho,” Gwaine says, takes a small swig, then obediently caps it and puts it away. “And I haven’t seen Arthur in at least ten minutes, to answer your question. Check the loo?”

Merlin scowls. “Just came from there,” he answers, eyes scanning the room, looking for his friend’s familiar blonde head.

Apocalypse

Prompt: Staying in bed instead of going to work on a cold December morning

“Come on come on come on…” Arthur prompts in the doorway, a mantra to the small fluffy dog sniffing around in the frigid air. He dances on his bare toes, knowing that as soon as he turns away or decides to close the main door, she’ll be back and scratching. Or worse, barking, which will make the neighbors cross at this early hour.

“Finally,” he breathes, opening the glass storm door just enough to allow his number one fan and devotee, Jingle the corgi, back into the house. “Took you long enough,” he grumbles, frowning down at her. She looks up at him and smiles her doggy smile up at him and he can’t stay irritated.

“Don’t give me that look,” he says, but he smiles and reaches down to scratch between her ears. Jingle was his Christmas gift last year from Guinevere, and if you ask the dog, she will tell you that the sun rises and sets on her...

Macaroni and Cheese and Pancakes

Prompt: Prompt: Arthur decides to surprise Gwen by making the Christmas dinner, now he regrets it...

“Arthur, what are you doing?” Guinevere’s groggy voice calls down from the bedroom. The noise of pots and pans jostled her from her drugged sleep.

“Nothing, love, go back to sleep,” Arthur calls up, quietly cursing the stack of pots that came tumbling forth from the cupboard like an extraordinarily boring piñata.

[i]“Sprained ankle, badly bruised hip, dislocated shoulder, and a broken wrist, Mrs. Pendragon,” the doctor had unceremoniously declared the day before in the emergency room. Gwen had taken a nasty spill on a patch of ice that had resulted in rendering her entire left side essentially useless.

Arthur paced, helpless in the face of his beloved wife’s pain, furious with Starbuck’s for not having their walkway salted, on Christmas Eve of all days. After hearing his beautiful...

Gingerbread

Prompt: They came upon a midnight clear

“Oh, God…” she gasps, his lips on her neck, heading for her cleavage. He eases her down on top of the pile of coats on a bed in a spare bedroom near the back of the house.

“You taste as good as you smell,” he murmurs against her skin. “Like…” he pauses, pressing a delicious open-mouthed kiss just above her collarbone, “…gingerbread?” He lifts his head and looks at her.

“Scented and flavored shimmer powder,” she explains, giggling.

“Very festive,” he says, grinning lasciviously before dropping his lips back to her chest and working his hand up her thigh, under her skirt.

The mistletoe had been hung in the hallway just outside the loo. So anyone waiting in line for the toilet ran the risk of getting randomly snogged.

Through the Snow

Prompt: Dashing through the snow

“Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open sleigh…”

“Merlin, shut up!” Gwen snaps, navigating through traffic on the snowy highway, gripping the steering wheel like she’s trying to strangle it. “And this isn’t a sleigh, it’s a Land Rover,” she mutters.

“Dashing through the snow, in Gwen’s black LR2…”

“Merlin…” she warns, hitting the brakes suddenly. “Ugh, if you’re going to just go the speed limit, get out of this lane!”

“Gwen, calm down,” Merlin says.

“I don’t know why I let you talk me into this, Merlin,” she says, biting her lip, changing lanes.

“Exit, Gwen… Exit!”

“Bugger!” she checks her blind spot, cranks the wheel, and hits the exit ramp just in time.

Twelve

Prompt: Prompt: 12 days of Christmas my true love gave to me

It’s late, it’s cold, and all I want to do is stoke up my little fire and crawl into my bed with three or four blankets.

I give the door an extra shove to make sure it’s securely closed against the draft. I light a candle and am just about to turn to the wood box when I see it.

What on earth? It’s soft, but heavy, wrapped in parchment and tied with a red ribbon.

My heart pounds as I pull the ribbon, setting it aside. Waste not, want not. Inside is a large, thick wool blanket, red. I unfurl it and run my hand across its surface, finding it incredibly soft, like the blankets in the palace. A slip of parchment flutters to the floor.

Stay warm.

Snowed In

Prompt: Cold December Night

Guinevere turns at the sound of a soft knock at the door. “Oh,” she says, seeing it is only Merlin’s prat friend Arthur. “He’s sleeping, finally,” she says.

Arthur steps in. “Guinevere,” he greets her coolly, used to her standoffish demeanor. She notices melting snowflakes on the shoulders of his black greatcoat and on the crown of his blonde hair.

“Is it still snowing?” she asks, fussing over Merlin’s pale thin frame in the hospital bed, tucking his blankets up under his chin.

“Getting worse. I almost skidded off the road, actually.”

“You shouldn’t have come out.”

Arthur sighs. “He’s my friend, too, Guinevere.”

“It’s also Christmas Eve and you have family.”

My fics for the LJ Christmas Fic Exchange. Couldn't post till now because they were anonymous, but have been dying to share with you all. Now I can.

The Gift

Prompt: After "Queen of Hearts." Guinevere gifts Morgana and Merlin openly. Arthur is jealous and finally gets her alone to give Gwen her present, and she gives him a stupendous one.

“Merlin, is that a new scarf?” Arthur asks when Merlin strides in with his lunch. The scarf currently adorning his neck is not one of his normal scruffy linen numbers.

Well, it’s still linen, but it is nowhere near scruffy. It’s red, one of Merlin’s customary colors, but it is a richer red, darker, bolder than his normal faded red scarf. It also appears to have been crafted by an expert hand, with fine, even stitches lining the perimeter. There is even an M embroidered in the corner.

“Yes, Gwen made it for me. Winter Soltice gift. Isn’t it beautiful?” Merlin says, grinning, his fingers tracing the edges of the material.

I wrote this prior to 5x12. I have since altered the beginning to match the actual events at the end of 5x13.

“The king is dead,” Sir Leon’s stalwart voice addresses the crowd, “long live the queen!”
    “Long live the queen.”
    “Long live the queen.”
Those assembled repeat the words, but there is an underlying sadness in them. Camelot is in mourning for their beloved young king.
Guinevere sits on her throne, Arthur’s empty seat beside her.
As empty as my heart, she thinks, but she keeps her own counsel, her face stoic. She is all out of tears.
She allows Sir Leon to escort her from the throne room and up to the royal chambers.
    My chambers. No longer ours.
“My lady?” Leon asks at the door.

"The Diamond of the Day" Part 2
The End.

Well, the last time ever to do this. Not going to get all mushy or teary. It's been real, guys. It's been fun. It's been a roller coaster ride and even this episode I hear will be a roller coaster of emotion. Got your tissues?

We don't expect much with regard to our couple, the purpose of this club and for most of us the reason for being here. But we expect much today on the conclusion of the story of the two "brothers," a sorcerer servant and a prince who became king. Speaking for myself, I'm good with that. This is the show; it's been all leading up to this. As always Arwen will be there in spirit. They always are in my book. For my meditations as an Arwen fan as the show ends, if you care to, read my article for Part 1.

See you all later. I'm sure we will have a LOT to say and I hope we'll be happy. Whatever we get, I'm good.

For those of you who celebrate, have a very Merry Christmas.

Here is the issue I am having and have been having for weeks. I don't believe Arthur dies in the conventional sense. I know, weird as that sounds. I simply don't for various reasons I will not go into, most of them are fiscal and having a kind of understanding. Yeah, I will leave it there. So don't bother asking lol. I hate repeating myself, ask HQ lol. One thing that irritates the crap out of me are those not prepared to think for themselves. No time for it.

Enough about me.

As to the actual legend, there is no Albion without Arthur and Guinevere actually. Murphy twists it to suit his Queenly purpose (this is me being nice) and his agenda and I will leave that be, but I think the person who dies tomorrow is Morgana, that is how they redeem her and the Hold me, Line...is Morgana to Arthur before death.

Am I going to bet on it? No....but you see all the spoilers from day one have been filled with misdirection. Camlann, oh so he doesn't die there...how convenient, because if you follow the majority of lore, after a rather successful and very long reign, that is where he buys it, but not in this tale...fascinating.

So there is only one episode left before Merlin ends for good. And I'm both excited and sad to see it end. Excited because whole it seems that this episode will be sad, maybe there will be some light at the end of the tunnel. Yes, I will always try to find something positive in anything. That is the way I am.

Yet I'm sad because I'll miss seeing Arthur and Gwen on our screens. Angel and Bradley truly have one of the best on screen chemistry I have ever seen. They have truly made Arwen work after the crappy treatment from the producers. Really, the whole cast deserved better.

And while its sad that this show is ending, I think the fandom will go on. I know that I shall stay here and continue to write fanfics, make art until my love fades away. I know some will stay, some will go. Either way, I've enjoyed my time here. I joined here 4 months ago (after other places I hung out got very quiet) and have had so much fun. So I hope some people will stay a while because I've just gotten use to this place.

With the way things are playing out, e.g. fast forward to Camlann with no creation of the golden age, and it is looking more and more like Arthur is going meet his end. How the HELL is Gwen going to keep the crown? She is a non-royal/no royal blood, a former serving girl, sitting on a throne wherein the military has been weakened by a war. If Merlin leaves to fulfill his destiny, or at this point looking more and more likely that he will be touring the world embellishing the tale of King Arthur and sorcerer Merlin so that the legend of Merlin and King Arthur is created, who or what is going to prevent Camelot from being overtaken? Since none of Camelot’s “so called allies” has seen fit to help Camelot with its war against Morgana, I don’t see any of them helping the former serving girl queen keep a throne that she has no blood tie to. She doesn’t even have a Pendragon child whom she could act as regent for until he or she is of age and could rule. With Arthur dead, the peace treaties are nothing more than useless toilet parchment/decoration. As much as I love Gwen I don’t give her long on the throne, or long to survive after Arthur’s death. Even if Gwen makes a quick...

"The Diamond of the Day" Part 1

Hey there. Sixty-three down and two to go. Now who said that? Oh, yeah, it was Bradley James earlier this week I think. I’m really not sure how I’m feeling about this. I should be super sad, but for some reason I’m not. Not sure why. Speaking for myself, I think I’ve invested far too much time and emotion into this. It’s a tv show and while it’s been somewhat of a “hobby” in my case there have been times it’s been somewhat a stress on the blood pressure and I’m speaking seriously. But on the other hand, there’s my main reason for watching: Arwen. To be very honest, It’s the most that I’ve ever loved a couple on screen. Ever. And the satisfaction we’ve all had from watching their lovely chemistry has been worth it all, agreed? We have favorite scenes, favorite gifs, favorite captures on photo, and so on. We have their lovely theme music to remind us of their moments. Someone even wrote on here the other day asking about the sheet music for it because their daughter and future son-in-law wanted to use it in their wedding. That’s our Arwen. That how special they are.

Part 15: link

Spring comes, bringing with it the sunshine, new green leaves, chirping birds, and a message from King Marke of Cornwall, inviting the new King and Queen of Camelot to visit and discuss alliances.
Guinevere wakes slowly, scrunching into the bedclothes, looking for her husband’s warm body.
Where is he? She pries one eye open, then the other, and looks around, only to find him staring into a mirror, regarding his chin.
    “Arthur?” she calls softly.
“I think I might grow a beard,” he says, twisting his jaw this way and that, trying to picture it.
“I think not,” she answers, awkwardly sitting up, shifting under the weight of her swollen belly.

“So who gets to go first?” Gwen asks, holding the jar of body paint, standing in the doorway of the living room.
Arthur looks up from the Macbook on his lap. He arches an eyebrow at her and smirks. “You’re the artist,” he challenges.
She snorts and disappears, back to the bedroom. Arthur hurriedly slams the laptop shut, fumbles with the remote to turn off the TV, and scurries after her, swearing as he bangs his shin on the coffee table.
“Nice princess sheet,” he says, striving for nonchalance now as he lounges in the doorway to her bedroom.
“I don’t want to get this crap on my good bedding,” she says, spreading the sheet over the bed. As she bends over to smooth it out, Arthur comes up behind her and wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her back against him.

Arthur paces the floor in his chamber with his hands firmly clasped behind his back. He is angry and he didn’t fail to show those around him. After he arrived back at the castle, he barked his orders at his stable boy asking the poor lad to wash and clean the horse by evening and get the torn leather stirrup fixed by tomorrow; later he instructed the servants to get his bath readied and when the council members questioned him about the condition of his arrival he snapped at them, telling them to mind their own business. Humiliated and ashamed, the council members backed away. Arthur strode back to his chambers and stayed there all afternoon. He didn’t want to meet anyone, not even his mother, and she let him be.

Arthur is humiliated, angry, and his mind is going berserk thinking of what happened this morning at the village. Never has he been humiliated like this before. And by a simple village girl! How dare she? Did she know what danger lurks if...
