What I like about Arthur is how he learns lessons about life. Of course, they also have what is called “imagine spots” where Arthur, D.W. and the gang imagine what could happen to them whenever they have an adventure. And speaking of which, there is never a shortage of adventures in Elwood City, too. :)

Because it happens to be funny and educational without being too dumbed down, and it has likeable believable characters. Often these type of shows have very 1-dimensional characters who don't exist outside of the message they carry. But with Arthur I think the characters work even outside of the message.

The thing I like most about Arthur (the character) is that at the end of the day, he honestly tries to see life through everyone's shoes. He is very passionate about all of his friends and family members, and often times he places himself in their shoes, to experience what life is like through their eyes, which gives him greater understanding of the world around him and helps him to be a better friend/brother/son, etc, and that is an unmatched quality for any 8-year old boy and a profound characteristic of the character himself.
My favorite thing about the show as a whole is basically an extension of that same admiration from the Arthur character, but on a more general basis. I love that the show explores different families from all walks of life and shows kids (both in and outside the show) how other families live and different experiences that they have, all while making the show relatable for kids of all ages. Sometimes its hard to imagine life through eyes that aren't your own, but Marc Brown has his show explore different religions, different types of families (nuclear, single-parents, divorced families, to name a few) as well as different financial backgrounds. This greater understanding of different people is opening doors for LOVE; and love is the key to peace and acceptance, which is the key to PEACE. And that is what this world needs now more than ever: LOVE, ACCEPTANCE, and PEACE. And if Marc Brown's contribution to these ideals is through the fictional world of Elwood City, then I fully support him and the Arthur series and books wholeheartedly.
