cowgirlfromhell Wow! I really don't see how having a president who doesn't believe in a god would change thee way they would run a country. That 84% have got to be die hard believers, it's the only excuse and it's not a good one.
Shandiii I agree, I don't think religion should play a part in who we pick for a president. Your voting for someone to run the country, why should it matter?
misanthrope86 I don't think that it should matter either, but then when presidents like Bush won't approve of certian bills (ie Civil Unions, stem cell research) on religious grounds, thats when their religion becomes important. It shouldn't be that way, but unfortunately, it is!

emilyroxx Wait... 84 + 14 = 98... so where's the other 2%? Lol, math fail. An Atheist president would actually be a BETTER choice for president because they'd be completely unbiased when it came to religious issues.

So this is super ranty and probably rambly to boot. I just feel the need to get a few things off my chest.

We've all probably seen posts on the internet to the effect that if Bibles were allowed in school we'd have fewer people in prisons.

I'm always flabbergasted at the blatant ignorance of this statement.

Firstly, Bibles are allowed in schools, they just aren't a part of the lesson plan. Students are free to bring their Bibles from home. Teachers are not allowed to lead prayers but students are free to pray if they so choose. And this is how it should be. Not everyone has the same beliefs and...
