So I'm trying something different now. Usually I tend to type 'why I like my favorites' articles or 'why I don't like my least favorites'. So this time I decided to try something new and type about what I like about a character I'm not to fond of.
I decided to do this with Katara because, of all the characters on my dislike list, I think she's probably the most likable.

One of my favorite things about Katara is that she's just a genuinely nice girl. She always goes out of her way to help those who need her help--like that town she dressed as the Painted Lady for. I may not like her character...

Okay, so one of the things i love best about this show was the way in which it had a subtle commentary on gender roles. I know, you may ask "so, what?" or "why is this important?" Well, I'll tell you.

Often, females are portrayed as supporting characters to the all-important male protagonist. Here, this is not the case. While i am indeed a guy, i like to see that screenwriters have progressive attitudes when it comes to gender roles. If you notice, Katara is the one who brings Aang along with her, not the other way around. Often, she plays the teacher and not the damsel in distress.

I still remember my chilhood in Southen Water Tribe , i was staying there with my dad, because my mom was in the Fire natiom and she couldn't stay with me, she was the Avatar and the Fire Lord. I remember how i felt in love with a general. I was 20, i was helping my father training the waterbenders. Yes i am a waterbender, but now i just heal.
