Can someone explain why Angel went into game face after he and Buffy kissed in Angel?

Now I get it, and it is clear :) but not being a native speaker I preferred to make sure :) I think the reason he changed was because his emotions were so heightened, and I think this is the main factor that is responsible for turning, when you feel strong emotions, excitement, it does not necessairly have to be anger. But you made a good point, since we never saw a vampire in a situation like that, and its good to try to figure it out:)

Sometimes I wonder if he did it deliberately/semi-deliberately, wanting to be honest with her.

It could be possible, it was a burden for him to hide that from Buffy. He loved her already, so I think he wanted her to know the truth, especially when things went so far with them, after the kiss he knew there's no turning back, and at this point he ows her the truth.

At that moment he was still half-convinced a relationship would be a bad idea, too, so maybe he was trying to warn her away.
