Ever since I first started watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer, I've always felt that Angel was a better match for Buffy than Spike. To me, Bangel is the perfect couple and they're soul mates who are star-crossed lovers like Romeo and Juliet. They've had to deal with things that no other couple have had to deal with but yet they've come out strong in the end. Angel is the one that Buffy truly is meant to be with because she told him she was cookie dough and not fully baked while Angel told her that he wasn't getting any older. They have been through a lot and I will always love them. I've always been Bangel and I will always be Bangel. What they have is an epic love story and one of forbidden love because they're not supposed to love each other simply because he's a vampire and she's the slayer. Anyone who would love them like I love them understands that they are meant to be together and even Sarah Michelle Gellar who played Buffy herself has said in interviews that Buffy belongs with Angel and that she supports Bangel. I have always believed that they will end up together after Angel's prophecy is fulfilled and he is human once more because then Bangel can be together without...

Did you know that in the episode “You’re Welcome” in Season 5 of Angel writers originally wanted Buffy to come and get Angel back on track but Sarah Michelle Gellar couldn’t make it due to other obligations so they wrote the episode for Cordelia instead?

It would have been so great to see Buffy be a part of Angel season 5 like the writers wanted her to be.
Having Buffy and Angel reunite would have been beautiful, although with Spike being there it would probably be kind of awkward and complicated. But I did like how the episode turned out and that Cordelia had a well-written death.

At least Buffy was the writers' first choice, just like she was Angel's first choice!

Bangel scenes
I'm listing my top ten Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel episodes in terms of Bangel scenes. They're in chronological order, no hierarchy, because I don't think I could rank them fully.

1. Angel

This is the episode where their love is confirmed to be mutual and they first get together, so it had to be on this list. I thought the way it happened was so cute. Their first kiss was beautiful, but what I really love in this episode is the ending. They talk about how they're love has to be doomed, but they can't walk away, and when they kiss for the second time Angel doesn't pull away even though her cross necklace is burning him.

2. What's My Line Part 1

This one is here for the beautiful ice rink scene. Buffy kisses Angel in his vampiric form and says she hadn't even noticed it til he pointed it out. It really summed up the fact that she accepted him for what he was.

3. Surprise

When I first heard of the Shanshu Prophecy, my opinion was pretty much the same as what I assume most Bangel fans were thinking - yay!! Finally a way for them to be together, without any of Angel's break-up excuses. And of course, I was assuming it'd happen well within Buffy's lifetime.

Then I rewatched IWRY and that made me think. Wouldn't Angel turn down the Shanshu, if he could, like he eventually turned down being human in that episode? The reasons still stand, unfortunately.

Then I got a new idea. I'm still not sure if I like it or not. My opinion tends to vary.

What if, when Angel Shanshus, he becomes like Connor? Technically human, but still retaining the strength, the speed, the healing. He'd be able to fight then. I know some people have pointed out that normal humans do fight, e.g. Gunn, Xander. But I think Angel would have gotten too used to his current strengths.

"In 243 years I've loved exactly one person"

"In all that time, no one ever mattered, not like she did"

Faith

I know some people ship Angel with Faith, but I see their relationship as a friendship, almost sibling-like. I like it that way. Keep it that way.

Darla & Drusilla

I'll rate both these pairings at once because it's the same things I can say about both.

I like some of their interactions, but in the long term either pairing would need Angel to revert to Angelus. And I don't want that. Angel needs to be the champion!

Cordelia

Warning: this may become a rant.

I liked the friendship between Cordy and Angel, same as with Faith. It annoys me that the writers of Angel tried to turn it into a romantic ship. It felt forced. It felt like they thought they needed the standard main hero/main heroine pairing.

I didn't notice this pairing before Waiting In The Wings, since I interpreted earlier mentions as jokes (e.g. when Beth the telekinetic girl asks) and I thought Cordy's response to Darla's pregnancy was about the risk and Angel...

I'll start by quoting Buffy herself, stating that she loved Angel more than she'd ever loved anyone in her life.

I'm also going to explain my preference by criticising her other pairings. Angel gets criticised for making some decisions on her behalf, but I think the others are worse.

Riley

Firstly, I've a problem with her being paired with any normal human. Angel broke up with her so that she could have a normal human life - but she isn't a normal human. She's a slayer. Realistically, she's not going to survive long enough to grow old with someone. Same with being with someone who can give her children. The only known Slayer who had a child left her son effectively orphaned when he was just 4, and that's if she survives her pregnancy with all the attacks and apocalypses she experiences.

Secondly, Riley was just no good for her. In my interpretation, she had some trust/commitment issues after Angel, which left her unable to risk falling as deeply in love again, in the short term at least. She was holding herself back. Riley noticed this but interpreted it wrongly. This led to his jealousy, inferiority complex and stupidly...

Angel 1x08 "I Will Remember You"
As you can notice I'm a huge Bangel shipper, I can say I just love them to death!
They are everything I admire and look for in a relationship. I love watching romance, true, passionate love and heartbreaking moments.
That is all I can think, of when it comes to Buffy & Angel.
Having a true love is such a rarity, not everyone have that luck to find that very own second half of an apple (this is how we say here;)). Buffy and Angel had, not for long, but what they experienced with each other can not be compared with anything else.
How special it has to be, if the man who walks the earth over 240 years, truly fall in love with a sixteen year old girl at age 241 ?.
And this is the first time for him. How this girl's love for him has to be strong and incomparable with anything else if she say:
"I would have given up everything I had to(...) I loved him more than I will ever love anything in this life"
True love happens only once in a lifetime, what Buffy and Angel had can not be replaced. They gave all they had to each other. They were one soul living in two bodies.

Sarah Michelle Gellar's views on Bangel and their relationship.

[Q]Let's talk about Angel. Does it make you proud that your Buffy compadres have gone on to create their own successful spinoff?

Oh, it's been great. It was sort of like, Hey, we launched that. In my opinion, Buffy and Angel should be together forever, but I understand for storytelling purposes, it's not to be be. And I think it's great that there are more stories that can happen.

[Q]So, you think Angel, not Riley, is the one for Buffy?

Angel is Buffy's true love. They have something you can never repeat. I mean, I understand it when people say nothing is ever the same after your first true love. They were soul mates. And Riley and Buffy were at different stages in their lives; they were different people. Buffy never loved Riley the same way she loved Angel. Although I love Marc Blucas, and I miss him.

[Q]When the show ends, would you be upset if Joss didn't pair up Buffy and Angel again?

Bangel's First Kiss (from the episode Angel)
Welcome to the Hellmouth (EP01)
Angel: Ah, heh. Is there a problem, ma'am?

Buffy: Yeah, there's a problem. Why are you following me?

Angel: I know what you're thinking. Don't worry, I don't bite.

Angel: Truth is, I thought you'd be taller, or bigger muscles and all that. You're pretty spry, though.

Buffy: What do you want?

Angel: The same thing you do.

Buffy: Okay. What do I want?

Angel: To kill them. To kill them all.

Buffy: Sorry, that's incorrect. But you do get this lovely watch and a year's supply of Turtle Wax. What I *want* is to be left alone!

Angel: Do you really think that's an option anymore? You're standing at the Mouth of Hell. And it's about to open.

Angel: Don't turn your back on this. You've gotta be ready.

Buffy: What for?

Angel: For the Harvest.

Buffy: Who are you?

It was made in a way like BtVS and AtS ended at the same time and Angel got back in his old office.

Part 1.

Sunnydale is shattered to million pieces. Town with only one Starbucks shop will never serve another deamon again. Buffy looked back to it with many memories, both good and bad. Mostly bad ones that magicly got covered with good ones. Who knows, maybe Willow had her fingers in that too, but that's another story that shouldn't be touched. Good old Scooby Gang after the disappearance of their beloved town sat in yellow school bus and headed to L.A. Xander wasn't a big fan oft hat idea, but Buffy thought that their old friends can help them. Willow also thought it would be fun to catch up with all of them, while Giles was on Xander's side. Dawn really didn't cared about anything, she just wanted to sleep. Faith, Wood, Andrew and the rest of the Slayers got out of the bus near San Francisco, where they got on a plane and headed to Clevland. Willow didn't wanted to talk about Kennedy leaving, but they all knew she was having a rough time, losing another important person in her life. She was quietly sitting in her seat on the end of the bus, looking trough...

i had always thought that spike was a horrible guy to everyone and to buffy, but in the last four episodes he changed and now i "kind of " get why everyone loves spuffy. Sure Angel had a soul and loved buffy and saved her life alot, but he didn't say uplifting or romantic speaches like spike [or none that i can remember]. Spike also helped and cared for buffy even without a soul ,which is more than i can say for Angel. And getting a soul back for buffy [who at that time didnt really care for Spike]was an amazing thing to do , just getting to the end of the world and back is hard let alone going through trials that could have easily killed him. Loving for Buffy and getting a soul was great, but the thing that spike did that made me change my opinion on him was his speeches to Buffy. When Buffy got kicked out of her home by her family and friends Spike gave her the strength to go back and be they're leader again. And Spikes second speech was so romantic and caring saying that just holding her was the best night of his life it ''almost'' fall in love with Spike. Even though Spike Loved Buffy and got a soul and said moving tricks, we cant forget the other side of Spike, the one that...

Just some "OMG, no way!" things about the cutest Bangel episode ever that will make you say "OMG, no way!". I love this episode so thought I might post some interesting things about it!

Significance

This is the second time in the series that Angel gives up a chance at happiness. In the episode, "In the Dark", he relinquishes the ability to walk in the sun.

This episode is the first time that Angel makes an arrangement that causes those around him to forget something significant in order to protect those he loves. In the season four finale, "Home", Angel alters everyone's memories so that his son, Connor, can have a normal life.

This is the first appearance of The Oracles, a pair of humanoid beings, brother and sister, both unpredictable and self-important, that serve and speak for The Powers That Be. The Oracles last appear at the end of season one, in "To Shanshu in L.A."

Continuity

Crossover with Buffy: This episode follows the events of "Pangs", which aired immediately before.

Sarah Michelle Gellar quotes:

#1. "I believe that Angel is her true love, and I believe she will never love anyone the way that she loves Angel. Will she fall in love again? Ya know, in her mind she thought she had fallen in love with Riley, even though it wasn't what it was supposed to be, but nothing will ever be Angel. And um, I'm hoping, at some point, they find their way back to each other. We'll have the Buffy Angel hour, we'll have two-hour episodes every week and I'll never go home at night, we'll go on forever."

I've been having that very same thought myself, we should have had two-hour episodes!

#2. "I think Buffy was greatly in love with Angel. It will always be Angel! Nothing in her life will ever compare to that..." -2002-

#3. "... part of the reason Buffy worked was because of Angel..." -Sarah Michelle Gellar

#4. "She'll always miss Angel." -Sarah Michelle Gellar

(Be warned: This is quite lengthy) It's an essay from a Buffy related book once again credited to 'Imblack21' for her find. The girls becoming a b/a santa!
***********************

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Philosophy
Fear and Trembling in Sunnydale

The essay in question:

Buffy in the Buffy:
A Slayer's Solution to Aristotle's Love Paradox
Melissa M. Milavec and Sharon M. Kaye

Background from the essay...

The Aristotelian Framework

According to Aristotle, there are three levels of friendship. The lowest form, "utility friendship", is based on mutual benefit, irrespective of whether or not two parties especially enjoy each other. Utility friendships are deliberately chosen for specific reasons. (Examples given: "fellow travelers, business partners, and soldiers seeking advantage in war." ) In each of these cases, the individuals establish a relationship in order to accomplish a conscious goal.

This studious discovery is by no means something credited to me, it's the lovely work of 'Imblack21' at DH but i felt the need to share. It really warms a b/a lovers heart!

~~~~~~~~~~
In the episode “Angel” in which Buffy and Angel decide to walk away from each other, the song playing is “I’ll Remember You”.
3 years later, there is an episode where they come back together before parting again and the writers called it “I Will Remember You.”
~~~~~~~~~~

In "Welcome to the Harvest", Buffy tells Angel, “Maybe I don’t need a friend” and Angel replies, “I didn’t say I was yours” as he walks backward into the darkness.

In Chosen Angel says, “Shoulder to shoulder – I’m yours”.

~~~~~~~~~~
In the episode "Welcome to the Hellmouth", Angel gives Buffy a cross necklace that is later (in the episode “The Harvest”) at least partially responsible for saving Buffy’s life.
Doyle: “Maybe he’s over her.”
Cordelia: “You have so much to learn, little Irish man.”
Angel: “It is confusing. And I…when we’re apart…it’s easier. It hurts, every day. But I live with it. And now you’re…you’re right here…and I can actually reach out…and -- it’s more than confusing. It’s unbearable.”
Buffy: “But we have to bear, right? I mean, what else can we do? It doesn’t work with us. It can’t.”
Angel: “No, I can’t give you a life, or a future, or anything a real girl would want.”
Buffy: “No matter how much we miss each other.”
Angel: “Or what we feel in the moment.”
Come and join the Bangel team on the debate of the Bangel vs Spuffy spot.
link
Well I am sure that this topic had been discussed in great length but who is better? I personally think Angel, Buffy and Angel were Soulmates just because they couldn't be together doesn't mean they don't love each other. I am calling a debate for all Spuffy and Bangel fans, I myself am on the bangel side. Here is my argument.
Buffy and Angel were a loving caring soulmate relationship where as Spike and buffy were just physical (in season six, but even in season 7 it doesn't match the bangel love)We all know that Spike loved Buffy and Angel loved Buffy but the real question is...
Who did Buffy love the most?
In my opinion really is that she loved Angel "More than I will ever love anything on this world" and she cared for Spike a great deal but it just wasn't the same.
Buffy & Angel Ture Lovers
Well, I have a lot thoughts about why Angel felt that he should let Buffy go . That just doesn't make a lot since to me at all.
I mean that ,they are the hottest couple in the Buffy and Angel Series.
Buffy didn't do anything wrong that would made Angel to leave her.
Buffy loved Angel so much that she would give anything to the boy. So didn't he. Doesn't that make you upset about Angel letting Buffy go.
In the epsiode "Prom" Angel had these treatches dreams about them getting married. And Buffy was on fire that made Angel think that he should let Buffy have someone in her life that would be there for her in light and dark.
It was hard them to move on. I mean when Angel came back to see Bufy again. He saw Riley with her and. Both Riley and Angel fight over her. I mean fist fighting over Buffy.
(Season 4) ~Yoko Factor~
Buffy: Ok. So let get this straight you came back here for what? to screw things up again.... I really need to know what the Hell are you trying to do.
