Okay, where should I begin? I've watched the movie at last and I'm utterly in great disappointment. I expected Secret Door to be better than Pearl Princess since it is based on a book and is the Autumn-released version. Seemed promising. Not to mention from the 2D animation, the Barbie is very attractive and beautiful. Unfortunately, it is worse and I even won't watch it twice in a long period.

The Animation

Colour -

The Lorax's Truffula forest

On scale 1 to 10, I rate it less than 1. The colour is the main problem of this movie, Zinnia kingdom's colour to be precise. Zinnia's colours are extremely hurting my eyes. The grass' colour is not green but blueish green, the plants and the creatures' colours are unnatural and clash making them terrible. Sure you can say that it's a magical, imaginary kingdom, but at least you can do a matching colour combination. Striking purple combined with yellow and green? They are link. You want to make it unique? Take a picture of The Lorax's Truffula forest. The colours are cute to me. Fortunately, though it is far from impressing, outside Zinnia's place colour is still acceptable. At least the colours are sensible and matching. (You can compare Truffula to Zinnia with the picture below and see which one do you prefer.)

Design -

First of all, the Zinnia's plants. Enormous sunflowers, tall red, yellow, and purple flowers with purple spiral stalks, and etc. are too confusing. Take a picture of The Lorax again. The Truffula trees looks like colourful tall cotton candies. Sweet and soft XD. The Zinnia castle's design is riddikulus, I mean ridiculous. The magical abnormal creatures are not just having flopping colours, but also design. I cried at the horrible design of The Tigger-tailed-like creatures, whatever they are called, Sniff, Whiff, Grodlin and co. In the real world, only If I Had Magic scene that I found being absurd. What are the 2D-animated shoes, bed, flowers etc.??? Could they animate something a bit better? If they are funky jokes to me, they're terrible.

The Plot

The plot supposed to be good like I've said before. It is adapted from a book like Barbie movies used to be. Of course I didn't wish for it to be like the old movies which had strong plots and interesting plot twists along with good character development. Furthermore, from the official summary of Secret Door, the part: 'Discover what happens when Alexa finds the courage to stand up for what's right and learns that the power of friendship is far more precious than magic'. Wow! How beautiful ^^. Yet, in the movie I didn't get that message. Instead, what I received was 'I've got magic, so I've gained my confidence and now I can do everything flawlessly! Yay!' Hmm, inconsistency in the plot development. Also the jokes, the punishment (Odile and Crystal), the speech (modern princesses' jobs are to make speeches like Tori), are all reused from the previous movies, making it unoriginal. Moreover, it's like everything in the movie doesn't make any sense. Why don't Grodlin and co. manage a plan to take Malucia's sceptre by force? She is small and often standing very close to them. One big trog hold her and he snatches it, very easy :D. And it doesn't seems very clear how did Alexa get her confidence after she entered Zinnia? It should have been more like Swan Lake. It is clear how Odette gained her bravery. Plus Alexa's magic vs little girl's magic [sceptre] is ludicrous! Final word in this section: UNDERDEVELOPED! The plot is underdeveloped. All are only good on the surface. I was deceived :'(.

The Characters:

Alexa -

Who is my least favourite Barbie? I can easily replied, Princess Alexa. She's a disgrace of Liana's best friend Alexa by repeating her name. Why??? Her 'shy', bookworm character is absolutely boring. Though she's not a fake shy like Catania, she's far worse than the lovely Catania. Wait, wait, so what are her characters besides super shy which is more like reluctant? Ah yes, irresponsible. Why? She always ran away from her duty whether as the princess of her kingdom or of Zinnia. I also think she is a bad role model. She has the same craving as badly as the main antagonist: magic. Whoopee, she finally got magic in Zinnia. Strangely, after she had it, she intended to run away right after she was only 'attacked' by a whiny, spoiled little princess. Moreover, the part where she challenged that little villainy kid was very embarrassing. Oh, come on! She is obviously younger and smaller than you are, Alexa! Instead of trying to appear 'clever' (since she is no match to you or is she?), that makes you seemed even more childish, from yearning to get magic from a fairy tale book to challenging small kid. You are supposed to change that little princess' bad personality into good just like in the book: The Secret Garden. It is by far better and is showing that you own a golden heart, and is teaching the viewer to always try to be good even to a mistreated child. Oh... There is nothing in her that touches my heart: from her goodness to badness. Even the annoying Merliah, Tori, and Kristyn have obvious, strong personalities. Inference of this section is: Alexa is less than meets the eye.

Malucia -

From the trailer, I thought Malucia is absolutely irritating and awful. Her appearance scares me. She looks just like the Barbie only minimized! But then, after I watched the movie, I think she IS both, irritating and awful. Yet she is undoubtedly better than Alexa since I found her as a fresh, new, and cool character. She is spoiled. So it is tolerable that she acts so irksome. I pitied her too that she is the only creature in Zinnia who doesn't own any magic except for her magical sceptre. It's good that she was punished in the end after all the mess she had done. And as a matter of fact, I think that she is amusing in I Want It All scene! She could have been my favourite only if she didn't do one BIG mistake. She made me screamed to my horror when I saw the part where her body was enlarged. ='O. That is her biggest flaw, not her whiny personality at all.

Nori -

Nori, Nori, Nori, let me think. Hmm, nothing came into my mind. Maybe she is a really flat, barely memorable sidekick. The first time I've seen her in the teaser trailer, I smiled and thought that this is the one who will be my favourite character. Her appearance and shades of red outfit were attractive. But then it wasn't very long ago, the trailer came, she took my interest away. And her repeated name is a minus. Moreover when I've seen the movie, her sarcastic character is so not appealing me. Quick-thinking and clever she is, but they were all useless when she came up to confront Malucia. Then I realised that from trio, I never like the sarcastic one. Sandrine, Hadley PCS, Fallon MT? Yes...

Romy -

Romy is annoying I have to say. She is desperate to appear funny. Her singing in You're Here and falling down over and over again are definitely NOT funny. That makes me question, will toddlers laugh at her? Even her first appearance is annoying. Hiding behind the weird-coloured sunflowers, lifting her bow with a 'fierce' expression is just... ugh. I don’t like her voice either. As usual, the ‘funny’ one must own the high pitched voice. Yet, some of her jests are fortunately really humourous. Like when she was ready to be a mermaid again. Her pose is LOL! Also her response to Alexa when she told Nori and her about a boy and a magic flying carpet: 'What's a boy?' then smiled is also comical. Although still, I prefer her in her serious manner. From appearance, she is the prettiest. Her outfit and colour combination are fine; blue and purple. Another point for her because she can do archery ;). From my view toward her, you can deduce that I like her best in this movie.

Zinnia creatures -

They are the worst characters from the movie. Beside the awful animation, they are just... odious. I left the movie for a while when Sniff and Whiff appeared for the first time. The jumping purple Tigger-tailed-like creatures are also disgusting. I wonder why did Alexa laughed when she saw them there is nothing funny about them. The little fairy girl called Nola is hardly memorable. She's just like Nori who is sulky and loves to fold her hands. Maybe fairies are like that in Zinnia. The arrogant Unicorn Queen? Stinks! Even Majesty is better (of course, she tried to be like Toothless, right?). So her magic is giving flopping colours in Zinnia? I'd prefer her as a normal horse then. I'd rather see Zinnia black and white, nice job Princess Malucia. Grodlin and the other horrid creature are fine actually if only they don't have the irritating colour and too stupid just to handle Malucia. King and Queen of Zinnia unexpectedly came yet their existence is rubbish. They were spoiling yet indifferent toward their little daughter. To sum all up, the creatures of Zinnia are *censored*.

Others -

The Homo sapiens now, let's see... Fortunately, they are not as distasteful as the Zinnians. Let’s start with Alexa's parents, King Terrance and Queen Adrienne. Again Mattel made the King looks too old to compare to the Miss Privet-look-like Queen Adrienne. Well, it's great to have a strict mother, finally, and the King was nice to allow Alexa danced with the Prince, yet Alexa chose to dance with the barely useful duo, Jenna and Samantha. They didn't seem to be Alexa's friends to me, more like *censored once more* (Vitty: Stop censoring me! I was not swearing, okay!). Alexa's grandmother is not bad but I'm not fond of her either. She is very mysterious. Had she ever visit The Secret Door? The royal dance instructor, Mr Primrose, is one of the few characters whom I like. I like his way of teaching waltz to the reluctant princess and I pitied him. Alexa actually can waltz, so was she on purposely stumbling Mr Primrose? (Don't try to answer this. I already know the reason.) By the way, how romantic when they fell together <3. Brookhurst, the royal butler, is a nice but not that bright character. She reminds me of Sagi sometimes. I like how he concerned about Alexa but understand her perfectly. The most useless of them all is... Prince Kieran! His presence is disappointing (actually, it is usual). He talked so little and he's even rejected by the princess! Poor prince, you're no longer charming for the princess. Maybe it’s better if you don’t exist at all.

The Songs

What's Gonna Happen -
It’s the best song in the movie. The melody is catchy to my ears, the background instrument is acceptable, and the lyrics are nice too. Also the sequence is perhaps one of the best scenes. The verse and the chorus parts could stick in my mind for hours. But somehow I’ve never heard the bridge part?

If I Had Magic -
The lyrics are not that bad though it's annoying that Alexa craves for magic though she already had everything. It is a bad example. It's weird that there is the lyric 'make it snow in July' just like Frozen, why should be July not June or August, and 'I'd text without mistakes, LOL yeah', too modern-y as always. The last chorus is boring since she only sings 'Magic, magic' with the same melody repeated over and over. The beat fits for the song. The imaginary scenes are silly but quite entertaining.

You're Here -
The worst song ever! The verse at first sounds quite promising, but the chorus is unbearably irritating. I was even unable to see the scene or hear the song when I watched the movie on telly. End of discussion.

I've Got Magic -
It's like that Brittany McDonald sang my second least favorite song miserably. The tempo is too slow, mellow, and the lyrics are bland, not fun at all. Yay, I finally got the magic which I have yearned so much 'and somehow I'm the star' now. Wait, does she know that she is the princess? Maybe it's tolerable if she's not.

I Want It All -
To be honest, this villain song is my second favourite song. Or perhaps it could be my favourite song, I don't know... The lyrics are nice and the melody is okay. Tabitha St. Germain sang it very well. It's so like a spoiled little princess who sings it. Also the 'Mine!' scene is hilarious.

We've Got Magic -
W-what? Another reprise of this song? Reprising the song which has only the one line in the chorus (and always including the bridge part), twice? It's just like teaching kids a new song and wanting to make them to sing it repeatedly. Surely we heard 'Here I Am' four times, but the full versions are only twice and the chorus has more than one line. Okay, back to the song, Chanelle Peloso's singing voice is actually strong and steady unlike Ashleigh Ball's but it seems that she played her voice too much while singing it.

What's Gonna Happen (reprise) -
My third least favourite song, surprisingly, goes to the reprise of my favourite song! Why? The beat annoys me a lot, especially if you hear it in a high quality stereo. The lyrics are not great too. It's strange that the shy Alexa loves to be in the centre stage. Oh yeah, her adventure in Zinnia changed her a lot and very quickly.

Choreography -
With most of the songs are not enjoyable, the choreography is even worse. In You're Here, it's like that Nori and Romy wanted to stab Alexa on the face in the chorus part. No wonder Alexa looked scared. All of the dances except for, probably, 'I Want It All' are rigid. Even 'Here I Am', 'Fly High', and ‘Phineas and Ferb’s’ dances are not as horrible as Secret Door's.

CONCLUSIONS: Alexa's biggest fear: EPIC FAIL!

I got headache and nightmare after watching Secret Door. From the animation to plot development, all are just so tiring for both my eyes and mind. Does distributor affect the movie? Since it is no longer distributed by 'Mattel Entertainment', it is now distributed by 'Mattel Playground Production'. Does it mean that the movies are now for younger viewers than it used to be??? But I shouldn’t say that. I love Sofia the First series and it’s for young children. Aaaand.... I should have remembered that now the movies are for the dolls' marketing so strong plot is no longer needed. If the Autumn released musical fairy tale movie that once gave me high expectation is like this, what hope do we have to the Spring released movie? Pearl Princess is bad, Secret Door is worse, and what of Princess Power, worst? Even from the news, the cheap knock-off-like Pow sounds disgusting. This movie is the one that is responsible for making me unwilling to watch the upcoming Barbie movies. Unless there will be a great improvement in the movies.

Hopefully, my readers won't be aghast with the words I use! I'm still me ^_^ I was just confessing to my dearest friends here. And all in it are my opinion. Don't change your mind if you love this movie or still intending to watch the next movies, it's your choice! :D You don't have to follow my path. Create your own path <3

angelclouds I agree with everything that you discussed. I just really wish Mattel listen to their audiences. they should take a step farther by this time but it seems the stories they develop is not good enough.

Madmozell I agree when you said about the animation and colour, I prefer Truffula trees and the landscape is more beautiful and attracting <333 I also didn't find Alexa's personality good, I love Nori more she is way better than Alexa! Malucia is a kid but she is a good villain, she wouldn't rest until she get what she wants, that's how a villain should be...This is the second time Mattel is reusing Ms. Privet. And the point when you said Jenna and Samantha aren't like Alexa's friends I also thought of that.... I don't think Alexa didn't ever had good friends....I mean if Nori and Romy didn't find out that she was a princess they wouldn't even care about her, when they found out they just wanted her to help them get their magic back that's all! LOL, Prince Kieran never said anything so it was good if he wasn't existing like you said ;) Even I get curious if Alexa's Grandma has ever visited the Secret Door??? Yes the choreography is ridiculous and the songs aren't that amazing!!! Maybe distributors do affect the movie I don't know how......Hiro look closely Jenna and Samantha are reused, they are Hadley and Isla from PCS.....stare for a while XD

nmdis Well I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't judge it but from the trailer I knew that I am going to get disappointed in animation field and I knew this about you too because earlier you told us that bright color hurt your eyes. I thought that as movies are getting modern now they'll use dim colors at least not so bright colors. It looks too childish, I didn't liked Alexa's dress too it was too flowery, though the yellow short dress and her hair style was good. I literally got pissed after knowing that they are reusing names and this time for two characters, Mattel proved that fact that it is too lazy. For the plot I felt the plot is strong maybe Mattel couldn't show the character as they wanted too and their wrong direction made it worst to know if the protagonist is sensible enough to know how to react on situation. I'll add my views on the character later when I'll see the movie.

3xZ @angelclouds, glad to know that you agreed in everything I've discussed. :D @Honey, I don't know. It seems like Alexa doesn't have any personality at all to me. And Alexa is playing solo, I guess. Haha, I don't know about that either. Will Nori and Romy abandon Alexa if she is not the princess? XD. The main thing in the movie is MAGIC. All you need is MAGIC in order to make you PERFECT. About Jenna and Samantha, I think Samantha looks more like Nora PaP (although Nora PaP does look like Isla only she has smaller eyes I think) and Jenna, maybe yeah, looks like Hadley PCS or perhaps one of [url=http://screencaps.us/201/2-barbie-popstar/full/barbie-princess-popstar-disneyscreencaps.com-6691.jpg?]Keira's dancer[/url]. Oh yes, and I forgot to say that I like the names Jenna and Samantha, sadly they are only for background characters that are not useful. They should have changed Alexa and Nori's names into Jenna and Samantha XD. @Iti, the strength of the plot is fine. The main problem from it is underdevelopment. Nothing in it was explored: from the characters to the Zinnia kingdom. I kinda adore the pink flowery gown design in the 2D animation though it's too colourful and the striped bodice isn't that pretty :). I don't know why should they reused names for the main characters when they could find unused pretty names like Jenna, Samantha, and Nola for the movie's minor characters.

Asabala2 Dear Hiro I'm agree with you in all of the review, just one things I'm not agree or know about it like you have said about the yellow and green, well I don't know about the colors so much so I can't be agree with that because I don't know but that's not mean that you're wrong and that don't mean that I love or like the colors I hate the colors it look not for us ( I mean teenagers). same in my mind how Alexa got that magic in the end????? I was think that the magic will back to everyone without Alexa. I never found any character appearance except Alexa okey I know everthing about her, where is the other characters, they're sleeping??? You're right dear!!! If I was in Alexa place I will advise Malucia to give everyone the magic that she've stole. me too the songs stick in my mind for one day and I singing them all of the day although I never like them that much^^

sparkletoes I didn't like this review at all...sorry..I disagree with most of the things you said. i thought you were going to compare it to "pearl princess"..but apparently you decided to compare it to "the lorax"..it was made by a completely different company..and this is rainmaker..hello? are you a barbie movie fan at all? you should know better than to compare rainmaker's use of animation and color to other movies..I think the animation has improved..a LOT and I loved the colors and designs in the movie..they weren't AMAZING..but were you really expecting it to be perfect? I mean I am not an expert in “matching colors” but they definitely didn’t “hurt my eyes”..I was quite dazzled by all the colours.. personally I like the design of fairytopia more than zinnia and I would have liked to see more of zinnia..but thats fine..because is just a movie and I was entertained... About the creatures...I absolutely positively disagree with you..I loved their designs and I don’t see whats wrong with them..when was the last time rainmaker made original creatures? And by the way..when I watch movies..its the originality and the “storytelling” that I care about and i think most film critics do..not the colours or animation (3d, 2d. Live action)..they don’t really affect me much..but its nice if movies LOOK good as well...and secret door definitely didn’t look bad to me... You think sd was unoriginal? Oh yes..it was similar to a few other Barbie movies..but what about pearl princess?? It was ENTIRELY UNORIGINAL..except for the whole “pearls on spikes” and “aunt Scylla falling on top of spike” part...it was basically mermaid tale and princess charm school in one..another “discovers she’s a princess” story..another “the child of the main villain helps Barbie in the end” story..and so many other things.. Now the message..if you haven’t noticed..it was “you can never know what you can do unless you try”..Alexa wasn’t very confident and afraid of making mistakes (epic fails)..she realised that if she had magic..she would be able to do most things quite easily..I understand that and can relate to her..and when she got magic she gained confidence..wouldn’t you? If you could do anything and everything? Obviously good things..Alexa obviously wasn’t corrupted with the idea of having so much magic like Malucia..then again malucia is a spoiled 10 year old girl..and even when Alexa had magic she wasn’t confident enough to battle malucia so she thought of leaving...but then she stood up to what was right and went to save her friends and everyone else! You said that in the end she could do everything flawlessly..you’re wrong..she was always capable but it was her confidence that didn’t let her..like how a lot of good singers and dancers totally break down under the pressure and nerves...you clearly couldn’t understand Alexa..maybe because she couldn’t relate to her but I think a lot of people (including me) like her very much.. Yes..they reused the name “Alexa” but they did the same with “lumina”...Alexa is a bad role model because shes irresponsible?? Yeah...she didn’t learn anything at the end did she? I personally like the message..that princesses aren’t perfect and being a princess isn’t the answer to everything...I didn’t get the whole part of challenging a mistreated 10 year old...I would have done the same thing she did..she should have changed her personality into good?? Romi and Nori were great..I like their singing voices..I didn’t find Romy VERY funny..but she wasn’t annoying either... And again..I don’t see why you hate the creatures of Zinnia so much..whats your problem? All the other characters were just fine..and I liked the grandmother BECAUSE she was mysterious... I liked the songs..I agree “whats gonna happen” and “I want it all” were the best songs in the movie..”you’re here” wasn’t irritating and I quite liked the choreography.. the reprises of “if i had magic” are all unique and different..and quite catchy.. Yeah so overall its a great movie and much better than pearl princess..Lumina isn’t as interesting as Alexa..and sd is definitely better..well thats my opinion...

3xZ @GoGo, green and yellow combined is fine but combined with purple? Aw, no go! I think she got the magic because she is the princess. And happy to know that you agreed with some of my opinion ;D @sparklestoes, thanks for your input. I compare this movie's animation and colour to The Lorax because the Truffula forest is an imaginary place just like Zinnia. The animation is much improved than the old movies. But HELLO? the design and colour are getting worse in my humble opinion. I never intended to compare this to Pearl Princess since HELLO? PP is a Spring released movie which we call it the second-rated BM. So I don't care if it's all UNORIGINAL. About the challenging little girl, in the book, The Secret Garden, a 10-year-old kid named Mary changed another 10-year-old Colin's bad personality into good. Oh come on, Eris is Merliah's aunty. She is by far older than Merliah. I think Merliah is annoying but it's good that she has tried to change Eris's mind in the first movie. Now, a 17-year-old girl vs 10-year-old kid? Think again. Snatching stuff? Yes, find another plot twist. That's why there a word: plot hole. It doesn't matter whether you find Romy funny or not. It's up to you and I never forced you to find her that way. Yup, I like the grandmother BECAUSE she was mysterious. Yes, Alexa was far more interesting than Lumina. That's the thing! Lumina stayed uninteresting while Alexa is worse after I've seen her. And you know what? Everything in this article is BASED ON OPINION. So if you love this movie, it's up to you. I am NOT FORCING anyone to hate this movie. I just wanted to tell anyone why do I dislike this movie so badly. And you can read Transformers: Age of Extinction reviews. They are all bad, yet I love the movie, so what? All of these don't make you're wrong and I'm right. It's a matter of, let me repeat it again, perspective. BTW, have you watched Hiccup 2? I agree that the movie is AMAZING!!! Yessss!!!

sparkletoes Ok so..i was never a fan of transformers and I have never seen any of the movies, neither am I interested because of all the negative reviews..I have heard that the visuals are great but the storytelling is bad..but since you're a person who likes movies like "transformers"..I am having second thoughts on why you wouldnt like a movie like "secret door"...it needs visuals like transformers right? and maybe more explosions? haha..I am just kidding... yes I have watched "how to train your dragon 2" once in 3d...second time we went to watch it in 2d but it kept freezing..can you believe that? we had to stop midway..a guy came in and said that they were experiencing some "technical" issues..and we had a refund and they also gave us a free ticket to watch any movie we like..that was a bummer..but yes i thought the movie was AMAZING! I love the series!!

3xZ It's because I put on too high expectation, I guess. LOL! Maybe you're right if there are more visuals and more explosion, the movie will be one of the highest grossing movie ever (if SD is released theatrically XD). So, what movie did you watch when you got the refund? Yep! The series is good too. The first movie or the second, anyway?

sparkletoes I still havent used my ticket..I am saving it for a REALLY good movie..probably one in imax 3d because they're the most expensive ones...I have got some ideas..interstellar, hobbit 3 coming out this year..or maybe the Avatar sequels which I am really excited about.. I love both HTTYD 1 and 2...and the tv series..

MajorAbbey Honestly? You took the words right out of my mouth in some places, particularly when it comes to the creatures and colours in Zinnia (we even have the same favourite songs, although I Want It All is my personal favourite). Just a few things I'd like to point out, though: 1. Grodlin and the other creatures like him are clearly employed by the royal family. Malucia is a member of the royal family. It's very possible they didn't try to stop her because they didn't want to lose their jobs, or even their lives once she starts getting really out of control. It's not so much about her being small. It's about her having a lot of power. At best, she could complain about them to her parents and put them out of work. At worse, she could do them some damage with that scepter of hers.The only one brave enough to stand up to her, really, was Grodlin. I agree about their design, though. Why couldn't they have just been humans in uniform? That's basically what they are. Oh, wait, never mind. I know why that can't happen. 2. Alexa didn't deliberately hurt her dance teacher. She was nervous. Because she was nervous, she wasn't doing so well; therefore, she stumbled. At the end of the movie, when she does the waltz, she's feeling more confident. By the way, while I'm here, I'd just like to say that I really liked that this was a heroine who actually did these things (as opposed to say, Kristyn, who didn't follow the choreography and basically got away with it). 3. The reason the butler reminds you of Sagi might be because they're both voiced by Christopher Gaze. ;) I actually liked Alexa's grandmother because she was mysterious, and she had a good relationship with her granddaughter. A much better one than the one Alexa had with Prince Kieran; who, I agree, was useless. If anyone out of that group should have got a doll, it was her grandmother. But we all know why that can't happen. 4. I agree with the idea that Malucia could be "changed to good" by Alexa. At the end of the day, that kid had a raw deal. She's the only person in the kingdom without magic. I'd be bitter about it as well if I was her. If anything, having Alexa teach Malucia that she doesn't need magic, that she's fine the way she is, would be a far better lesson. 3xZ ^ Like I've said in the article, the main problem of the movie IS the colours of Zinnia. I don't mind that much if the animation is weird or bad if the colours are not clashing. Somehow I Want It All can beat What's Gonna Happen as my favourite song. In fact, I'm glad that the ending credit song is I Want It All. It's quite shocking, but I like it :) Well, you've pointed all out nicely. 1. You're right. I've been thinking about that too. But if the little, spoiled and whiny employer, who makes troubles in the kingdom, is getting on your nerves you could easily snatch the sceptre right? Yes, she could complain to her parents and put them out of work. So what if the employers are intolerably bothering you a lot? At least the kid makes the resident feeling uncomfortable. And you can be the hero if you snatch the sceptre and bring back the magic and peace of the Zinnians. Well, maybe Grodlin is a slow-thinking, polite creature who doesn't want to lose his job... But then, another plot hole, so Malucia's parents leave Zinnia for weeks or months? Moreover they know that Malucia always wanted others' magic every time they left. The situation looks very awful till there are resistance. Unless they don't care of their people. But again, Grodlin can force Malucia to clean up the mess she had done. Arrrggghhh, so many plot holes! About Grodlin and co. again, yeah it will be great if they are humans in uniform just like Baileywick from Sofia the First, he's a great character. 3. Yeah, I love Sagi. He's such a caring and compassionate red panda. Maybe it's like that I wrote in the article like I don't really like Alexa's grandmother because of her mysteriousness. Well, I actually like her because of her mysteriousness too! Too bad she doesn't have name. 4. Yep, and I would like it much better if Alexa doesn't have any magic. You know, she craves for magic but then she realised that she doesn't need any magic to be perfect just like Emmet from The LEGO Movie or Oz from Oz: The Great And Powerful. As the matter of fact, before I watched the movie I thought Malucia will be a reformed 'villain' like Raquelle or Delancy since she's just a kid. I'm surprised that Alexa treated her like she's a big bad villain.

MajorAbbey I think Malucia's parents are just really terrible parents, to be honest. They punish her, sure - but not before giving her a present. And they leave her alone knowing full well she has a tendency to try and take over the kingdom. How often do they go away? Maybe that's another reason they don't stand up to her; Malucia could make their life miserable while her parents are gone. More so than usual. I love Sagi, too. He's my favourite animal sidekick because he's intelligent and caring. Plus, again, Christopher Gaze. It would be cool if she didn't have magic, or if her magic simply wasn't enough compared to Malucia's stolen powers. I would've liked to see if Malucia could be reformed because, as you said, she is a child. A child with terrible parents and more power than she rightfully should have, but still a child.

Sparklefairy375 Hmm...I think I am absolutely agree with your opinion and I understand why you disappointed by Secret Door. Yeah the design of Zinnia are too childish, the bright color, I don't like it at all. Anyway the Lorax forest is more beautiful and look more realistic (although I never seen this film now). The castle design also, looks weird and for me it looks like witch's house more than a kingdom's castle. The plot, I feel it was too cliche (the power of friendship) like many previous BM's. Seriously I don't get the power of friendship between they three (as they only know each other only one day!). Same here as Mariposa and Catania do. It was more better in DC and 3M (although it wasn't friendship movie, but they four has more good friendship relationship than Alexa or Mariposa, definitely). Malucia, yeah she's cute but her design isn't. appropriate. Look, I noticed her head is more big than her body. The big head design is the way more better in 2D (animes and chibis from Japan, the example ones.) but became horrible in 3D. And I think she became selfish because her parents that spoiled her. So I guess actually the real evil one is her parents, because a kid always doing anything that her parents teaches into her. Her parents, seems too busy with their jobs (they go away during the movie) and didn't think what the impact if they teaches their daughter like that. I agree with most of othe others, she could be reformed. Poor her, the others think she was a bad girl and doesn't realized she was a KID that don't know anything that right or wrong. The story will be much better, if Alexa talk to Malucia and give her a good lesson, or if she met her parents and explain all that happens. Explain her that magic isn't most important things in the world. So Malucia will be understand to not be selfish and finally she became a better princess. It's just my idea, okay. Nori, for me she's only seems quick-thinking at the beginning, but in the middle until the end, she was being same as the other Barbie's friends in previous movies, nothing special on her. Romy, I don't know what I want to comment about her. She was only remake of Hadley in MT and also just same with her. Agree again, the creatures in Zinnia are weird, what kind of animal that they are? Especially Sniff and Whiff, their noses are like mixture of pig and elephants, is they want to make a new kind of animal? Ridiculous. And whoa! I never noticed it before. At the end Alexa dancing very well instead she can't dance very well while doing dance with Mr. Primrose. Instead, she go to Zinnia only 1 day! Yeah look, at noon she go to Zinnia and when she return back, it was afternoon (and later at a night). That's doesn't make sense. Isn't Alexa just act to be can't dance and lying her mother and Mr. Primrose? Confused. Plus, too much useless characters during the movie. Actually it wasn't surprising me because they also doing that in Pearl Princess and other latest BM's. Prince Kieran, it was a weird name and his appearance wasn't needed actually. The song, I think they're just okay. I agree with you, I Want It All is the most funniest song in BM's. And for You're Here, the song is catchy but I don't like how they're dance. I don't understand why they're claimed this movie as "The Ultimate Fairytale Musical." instead half of them was repeated songs (If I Had Magic with I've Got Magic and We've Got Magic). Maybe if they do it with P&P, IP, or DC, it was more better. The last but not least, conclusion: For me the movie was just okay, rate 5/10 in my mind. Mattel needs to be really serious work to make a great movie. Since 2010-present I feel they're just make movie for money (quantity) and forgot the storyline (quality). I hope they return back as the old BM's someday. Well, sorry if my comment is too long. :) P.S: I was noticed the Queen of Zinnia's dress (color and design) just similiar with Disney's Snow White!
