Time for a little celebrity gossip today and this one's the hottest there is. After smoking the box office with the current ticket sales champion 'Twilight', Kristen Stewart, the film's female lead, is heating up the web as photos of her allegedly smoking pot surfaced. In the series of six photos from the TMZ, Kristen can be seen smoking a pipe with a friend on the steps of her house. What the pipe contains isn't clear but many have assumed that it is pot. After all, that's the most common use for it.
Reactions are varied across the web with some blog comments expressing worry that this might hurt her chances in Hollywood. They may be right. But then again, in a business where there are actors, actresses and celebrities who have done much worse, I don't think this is any cause for alarm (besides, we still don't know if it's really pot in that pipe). It may hurt her
chances of getting wholesome roles, though. After all, she just turned 18 and is still in high school. Perhaps the best thing to do right now is to make an official statement about this issue, either to deny that what she was caught smoking was pot or to apologize for this mistake. The immense success of 'Twilight' gave her and co-star Robert Pattinson a huge following of teenage fans, and they owe it to these kids (and their parents) to set a good example. BTW, I just found this video of Kristen Stewart on Letterman last week. She was promoting 'Twilight' which was yet to be shown then. The interview didn't go too well though. In fact, she looked quite out of it. Following a series of mundane questions related to her education (still finishing high school) and vampires, Dave asked Kristen what she plans on doing for vacation. Stewart said once she is done with her worldwide press tour for 'Twilight', she plans on driving straight to Russia, but she isn't sure where she will be leaving from saying, "I'm not sure where we end - London or Berlin - but wherever we end up we're going to drive to Russia." Letterman, who has obviously been trying hard to get anything out of Stewart then says, "Well let's hope Berlin." Was it live show jitters? Twilight anxiety? Or, ..... hmm.
