“I think the draw for me with Chuck and Blair was how unique they were to television. I admit to loving a very specific prototype couple before CB came along: the bad boy and the good girl. I liked the cliché redemption arc that always brought tears to my eyes. There was a comfort in knowing exactly how those couples and stories would play out, so I was reluctant to jump into the water with Chuck and Blair. He wasn’t just a bad boy, he was a bad, bad boy. He did despicable things and felt no remorse. And Blair… Well, Blair was the bad girl. She was the one you root against in romantic relationships while the “good” girl sneaks in and gets the guy. So, it was to my utter surprise when I found myself wanting the baddies together. Their spark, their energy – it just exploded on screen. I liked that they were devious and manipulative, and that they could revel in that together. There was something very freeing about watching a couple that not only accepted one another fully, but really enjoyed one another.

Aaaaaand…we’re back!

CosmicLoveCB has many, many feels after watching the premiere of the final season of GG. She SERIOUSLY hasn’t spoken to her daughter for an entire summer, and just assumes everything must be hunky dory? Wow. Rufus has surpassed even his ever-douchey son in douchiness and obliviousness, Dan got bitchslapped twice, Ivy is… icky, Nate is…RELEVANT (yes, you read that correctly)–and Chuck and Blair? Well, their only flaw is being flawless.

From the very beginning of Gossip Girl, Chuck and Blair have had an inexplicable, intense connection. They were demonstrated early on to be matched in intelligence, cunning and wit, and after the infamous limo scene in 1.07, it became strikingly clear that they were (and still are) a perfect physical match as well. Although everyone knows that Chuck and Blair have always been destined for each other, they have suffered a couple of trouble spots in their union due mostly to previous emotional immaturity and feelings of inequality, particularly in terms of their professions. We say previous because they seem to be emotionally matched now as well as vocationally. Basically, Chuck and Blair are ready to take over the world.

In the past, Blair and Chuck seemed to take turns as the torch bearer of their love, as the one who was emotionally ready for what being together actually meant. Chuck and Blair were always more than just dating or sleeping together, or whatever they were doing at the time—they were always going to be forever. Whenever things were going too smoothly, one of them—usually Chuck—would resort to some kind of...
