Name: Hsien-Shao (See-en sha-ow) Bao-Wong-Ling
Age: Born during the Zhou dynasty (longest Chinese dynasty in history), and he's approximately 1,000 years of age. Physical appearance, however, is quite ageless. He’s thin, tall, and has sharp features. I would say that he may look anywhere between fifteen and thirty.
Gender: Male
Race: Shinigami
Eyes: Caramel brown
Hair: A lighter brown than his eyes. It’s long enough to be pulled in a traditional ponytail or braid, depending on his mood or the auspicious holiday that it happens to be.
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 120 lb.
Appearance: His limbs are long in proportion to his already tall stature and has very pale skin. His brown eyes are always unperturbed and amused, giving the sense that he's laughing to himself about whatever it is that he sees. His hair is always more or less straight, never a hair out of place, adding to his aura of relaxation. He wears a white haori over his kimono that is custom made to take on a more Chinese style, making the entire think seem too long for him, and yet thin enough. His sleeves are wide and the sides are split at the hip, parting the haori into two free-hanging pieces over his front and back, giving room to move his legs.
Personality: He’s naturally reserved and observant, watching everything with a sense of amusement. He has a fondness of politics and philosophy and enjoys forming his own opinion on just about everything, no matter how trivial or relevant. He’s almost always seen with a superficial smile and piercing gaze that seems to eat into a person’s soul if it makes contact with their eyes. He has a relaxed take on things, watching them unfold with composure and decides on the course of action when he has already predicted whatever surprises that may come. He has an unintended tendency to look down on others of lower rank due to his upbringing as a daifu, or a royal Chinese minister. He’s used to having his wisdom considered by others, and it’s not without merit, though he often puts more in stock behind philosophy than others feel comfortable with. His nature is not to take the offensive during fights, preferring to let his vice-captain take that role as he focuses on the more 'political' side of his job. But when he must, he fights close range with martial arts mixed with his unique swordsmanship.
History: Hsien-Shao was raised as a close member to royalty in China, learning about philosophy and war within his country during a powerful dynasty. He became a minister to the emperor and learned how to separate his own feelings from his duty, able to smile and lie in the face of the people around him merely for the sake of whatever plan he was in the middle of enacting, which he believed would be for the best of everyone. This arrogant belief while indulging in the peace and wealth of his position led to his murder at a young age, possibly by the order of a fellow minister, or, more likely, the emperor himself. Hsien-Shao kept the vague memory of betrayal despite having total loyalty even in death until purification from a passing shinigami, and was sent to Soul Society. There, he enrolled to become a shinigami himself, finding Soul Society’s rule to be a just replacement for the leader he once worshipped. His insight and natural combat ability, along with his loyal nature made him a trustworthy figure, and Central 46 recruited to do various tasks Hsien-Shao cannot disclose to others even to this day, despite the military or civilian position of those who may ask. Hsien-Shao was rarely seen outside of the compound for years at a time, until the defection and death of Neshura, former captain of the eighth squad. He was requested to take her position, he gladly accepted, glad to have the chance to take a more direct part in the events regarding the Shirub.
Relationships: As a new captain, he doesn't have any particularly strong relationships with his colleagues beyond a sense of duty to allies. Though, he does develope a respect toward Zurui Kurohyou born from his respect for creative and resilent minds. He finds Fai to be a precious subordinate and wouldn't see him harmed in front of him. Kaguya, on the other hand, he allows to fight as she likes, knowing that she wouldn't like his intervention. Due to his personality, the other captains are often torn between finding him a pleasant philosopher or being creeped out by his crafty lack of honor.
Tiānlóng: His manifestation is that of a typical Chinese dragon, taking on a celestial form of white light, curling through the air without wings with two long whiskers extending from beneath his snout, reaching to be almost half his length, a spiky golden beard that runs below his jaw and chin, and tough looking horns extending from just above his brow. He’s extraordinarily calm and wise; a testament to the advanced age of the zanpakutou.
The inner world has a Chinese setting, of course, and stands on a wide, but low, bridge in a spacious pond, which is eerily calm, so still that it looks like a massive mirror. On either side of the bridge, a towering Chinese pagoda stands, one bathed in black, the other in white, and have on half of the Yin Yang symbol emblazed on them.
