Arc One: Aizen: The Beginning of the End

The beginning of this RP accounts for Aizen's disappearance from the Maggot's Nest and back to Hueco Mundo. Sosuke Aizen is planning to take over the Soul Society once more, by creating another Arrancar army. In reality, his goal is to steal the Ouken and use it to achieve passage into the Soul-King's dimension. Once again, the Soul Society are destined to try and stop him, lead by Captain-Commander Hitsugaya and the other 12 Captains. The appearance of a strange man, who saved a Seated officer, was to be their salvation... He was powerful, enough so to kill an Arrancar and then, later, an Espada. But, they learned that the name of his Zanpakuto was akin to that of a God.

Arc Two: Soul Society: The God's Realm.

The second is about the pseudo-shinigami, women and men with powers similar to Raijin's, where they each possess the capability of using these 'God-like' powers. Unfortunately, their existence has attracted the attention of a group of 'Radical' Gods, that believe existence of the pseudo-shinigami is unwarranted and wish to cleanse the Universe of them. The Radicals are lead by Ajisukitakahikone, Raijin's God, and the reason for his Zanpakutou's existence; Ajisukitakahikone had spent so much of his life feeling unloved by his father and brother, that he and Takemikazuchi, his other brother, decided to form a group of Gods to rebel against the other Gods.

Arc Three: Aizen: Revenge.

Aizen is planning to destroy the Soul-King's dimension and eradicate the Soul Society from existence. Only Raijin Masamune, with the help of the Gotei 13, can stop this from happening. All of their efforts are now focused on apprehending and executing Sosuke Aizen for good. With the help of each of the divisions among the Gotei 13, everyone is now underway to learn more about Aizen's activities and find information taht will conclude what his plan to enter the Soul Society is.

Filler Arc: The Kasumioji clan are being manipulated from within by a man with a powerful intellect and a major hatred of the Shinigami from the Seireitei. While this is going on, the other noble houses are protecting the existence of the Diadem, a powerful artifact, that could possess the secret of Kido and knowledge of Futo Minoriko, the first person to develop Kido. Together these two occurences will shape a new destiny for the Soul Society.

[Just to make a note, but the Third Arc will be Aizen's dramatic return... It will be called Aizen: Revenge Arc. Should be interesting. XD]

Rules

1. In a battle, there are to be no cheap shots that result in a one-hit kill.

2. No ridiculous over-powering of characters and abilities, otherwise there is no point in having a fair RP.

3. Play fair.

4. If you want to be a Visored, then you really have to spin me an exceptionally good story of how it occured and it really has to believable, otherwise I'll tell you to get naffed.

5. If you want to leave the RP for good, or you anticipate being away for a few days, try and work it into the story.

6. Follow my rules, otherwise I'll ask you to leave.

7. No trolls! I hate people who go on forums just make a nuisance of themselves. If you do that on here, I'll get rather annoyed and ask you UNKINDLY to leave.

8. If someone is going to be away for more than two days and cannot post, then we skip their turn and they get to post on their next turn. This is to make sure the forum doesn't get held up too much. We still have a fair bit of stuff to cover and I'd appreciate some good stuff coming in consistently XD. But, seriously, this will help keep the forum up and running. Cheers everyone :)

9. Listen to Whiteflame, he's the most experienced at RPing on here.

10. If you wish to join, don't just start posting on here. Ask first, then post your character onto 'New Characters for the Clan War' forum.

We are now in the depths of re-visiting Sosuke Aizen and his deviant slaves - the Arrancars, Espada and Hollows. From this point, until the filler, the forum will be completely focused on the fighting between the Soul Society's Gotei 13 and Aizen and his Arrancars.

[PLAY MUSIC]

Anubis spread his arms, looking to the sky as the billowing flames surrounded him. More flames erupted, this time not only from his staff, but from his body, until he was almost completely surrounded by a swirling twister of fire.

Ma'at: It's over, Anubis.

Anubis: So you would like to believe.

Like flower petals, the feathers gently, yet quickly, flowed through the air towards Anubis. He evaded the first attack, watching as they rejoined the wall of wind and feathers that surrounded the two. Without another thought, he dashed towards Ma'at, his black fire snaking through the air to his left and right. As he approached, the wind gently blew on him from all three flanks, and sure enough, three thick streams of feathers followed. The God twirled in place, blasting black flames at each of the tentacle-like streams before dashing forward and swinging at Ma'at. She bent backwards, ducking underneath the arc gracefully as she had the wind blow even more feathers into the fray.

Anubis: Saisho Kaso!

As the feathers neared their mark, they were sent backwards by a pillar of red and black fire. It quickly cleared, allowing Ma'at to regain her feet just in time to be pressed to avoid a lunge from Anubis. His staff passed by, not even grazing her, but his left hand came in unexpectedly. Ma'at's eyes widened as his hand closed around her throat. She felt herself weaken upon his initial touch, and immediately had the tornado cease and had the wind blow each and every feather towards him. Snarling, he leaped backwards while the feathers formed behind Ma'at like a tidal wave.

Anubis: Combining Menhed with that technique... You are a formidable opponent, Ma'at.

With a gesture from her hand, Ma'at sent the mass of feathers towards Anubis. He bared his jagged teeth, dropping to one knee as black bandages erupted from the ground, forming a semicircular dome around him. The wave crashed down onto the dome, allowing the massive impact to take its toll on the shield before reforming into several snake-like appendages. The dome burned away, revealing Anubis, and each string of feathers struck out at him. Tumbling out of the way, he extended his hand and sent out three bandages. They dug into the ground three meters away and pulled him away from his spot just in time to avoid the impaling impact of the feathers. He then got to his feet.

Anubis: You manipulate the wind with your Menhed to control the feathers' movements. You will be given a grand funeral, I promise you.

With that, he reached out and snatched a feather out of the air in front of him. Ma'at's mouth dropped.

Ma'at: You would resign yourself with such ease?

Anubis: Hardly, Ma'at. This is to demonstrate how foolish you are to believe you can defeat me. I will put a stop to your vain perspective of good and evil. Saigo Kaso!

He thrusted his staff towards the sky as a stream of golden light traveled downwards, sending a colossal helix of black fire upwards. The two forces met with a deafening crash, and stalemated. Finally, the fires actually began pushing the purifying ray back into the sky. Anubis stepped quickly out of the area threatened by the golden blast before dispersing his technique. Golden energy rocketed downward, searing the ground as he turned back to Ma'at.

Anubis: Know this, wretch; your purification will not so much as touch me. This should symbolize that. I am not going to cease what I am doing, for it is the right path. No matter how much denial you go into, that fact will not change. I-

The God of death stopped suddenly, sighing audibly.

[STOP MUSIC]

Anubis: Apparently, there has been a casualty on our side.

Ma'at frowned at him, readying her feathers for another attack.

Anubis: Ma'at, I will not forget this encounter, and neither should you. Once I am finished with whatever it is I must do, I will hunt you down and we shall finish this.

Anubis flashed backwards, turned about, and began to escape with a speed even greater than that of Ma'at herself. Soon, he had disappeared into the distance, leaving Ma'at panting as the feathers reformed on her arms.

-End-

BP: Don't try to run! I'll find you!

Exorcist: Never!

Exorcist's echo: Never....never....never...never....HOOPLAH!

It was all so confusing.

First there was this black fire, then there were feathers, and now the dog-headed person was gone! Just like that, their fight was over. She stood, dumbfounded, next to Johan, who looked similarly disheveled by the whole situation. They had been protected by some bird woman. Some… god.

She looked around herself, awestruck by the damage they had inflicted. The landscape had practically been flattened. Large depressions of burnt earth dotted the landscape, many of which were slowly filling with seawater. All of the island’s iconic heads had either been knocked over, thrown into the sea, or shattered into small pieces. She couldn’t help but feel sad for them. Even if they weren’t alive, they didn’t deserve to die like that!

Still, she was in no shape to help them, and neither was Johan. Both had been in manifestation too long, and they were suffering severe fatigue, Johan all the more so as a result of the damage inflicted upon him by the dog-man.

What’s worse, she had no idea where to go from here. She hadn’t realized it before, but this was an island, and there was no land in sight anywhere! Cadence found herself looking to the bird-woman, hopeful that she might be able to fly them somewhere else.

Ma’at stared after Anubis, watching him fade into the distance and for some time after he had long since ceased to be in range of sight. When she turned to face the pair of pseudoshinigami, there was a tired cast to her eyes.

Ma’at: He won’t give up so easily. None of them will.

Johan: Listen, we appreciate the help, but who are you?

Ma’at: It seems I have forgotten myself. My name is Ma’at, I’m an Egyptian god like the one you just met, though we are on different sides.

Johan: Well, he’s apparently on the side that’s trying to kill us, and we can assume you’re not trying to do that. But why are you protecting us?

Ma’at considered her answer for a moment.

Ma’at: We all have our reasons. For me, the effort of these gods to kill mere mortals is barely restrained chaos. Their intervention will only cause more bloodshed. Although…

Her gaze turned to meet Cadence.

Ma’at: It seems we may have the reverse effect in some areas. Isn’t that right, Eris?

Cadence met her gaze dumbly: Who?

Ma’at: You… can’t be serious. You just used her powers, the Greek goddess of chaos resides within you.

Cadence cocked her head: Well, I’ve never met her. I’ve heard another voice in my head recently, but I always thought Shiei had gotten better with voices.

Johan: And the manifestation? The massive power surge?

Cadence shrugged: You mean the second bankai? Can’t all captains do that?

Johan looked puzzled, then suddenly lost in thought. When he spoke again, it was like he was having a conversation with someone who wasn’t there.

Johan: No, I think she’s serious. That’s the sad part.

Cadence: Hey! Don’t you talk about me behind my back!

Ma’at sighed: We don’t have time for this. I can’t do much for you two without disrupting the delicate balance of this world. As far as I’m concerned, none of us should be here. But I will help you get to your fellow pseudoshinigami if you wish.

Johan: That would certainly be a help, we’ve been having issues finding them.

Ma’at: That’s not surprising. They appear to have disappeared from this plane of existence somehow. However, I imagine they will return to the same place eventually. I can get you to the same country, but after that, my involvement with you will be at an end.

Cadence: Well, we really appreciate it Matt.

Ma’at: …It’s Ma’at.

Cadence: Ma’…ate?

Ma’at sighed: Close enough. Let’s go.

Johan: How are we going to get there? Do the gods have some sort of Senkai Gate?

Ma’at smiled: We don’t require such… primitive means. Let me introduce you to our version of your “Flash Step.”

Yeah, it's shorter than I usually do, but as I said, sort of short on ideas.

Renee: So now I'm not good enough to talk about anymore?

Whiteflame: No, I didn't say that. It's just-

Pele: And not even a mention of me? You've hardly introduced me at all, let alone utilized me in a group post.

Whiteflame: Alright, I'm a failure, a horrible horrible failure!

Exorcist: No disagreement there.

Wantadog: I second that.

BP: Me three.

Whiteflame: ...You guys suck.

Zordaik: Duly noted.

[Kronos Gets Mad.]
[Storyline Post]

Kronos allowed himself a small grin. This would only last a minute. These “Pseudo-Shinigami” would pay for their insolence, followed by the rest, and then his traitorous kin. Maybe if he was still angry, he would eliminate some more. Toku snapped him out of his musings.

Toku: “Bukimi, Makoto, Isaac…step back.”

Isaac: “Don’t be a fool!”

Bukimi: “We know you’re strong, but this guy is stronger.”

Makoto: “Get your head on straight!”

Toku: “STEP BACK!…Don’t worry.”

The others hesitated for a moment, but did as he said.

Makoto: “I hope he has a plan.”

Kronos: “So you are going to fight me on your own? To think you would be so cocky! I sense Loki…that would explain it.”

Toku: “Give up.”

Kronos’ eyes widened: “Excuse me?”

Toku: “Give up. There is no point in fighting. You still have time, you can change your ways, begin anew. You can-”

Kronos: “NO! You dare insult me? Do you really think that if you say not to fight, that you will be spared?”

Toku: “You misunderstand me. I am giving you a chance to survive. You waited millennia, all because you wanted to survive. You probably thought of nothing but revenge. What would that gain? Would that really bring you happiness?”

Kronos: “Yes, it would.”

Toku’s eyes darkened: “Is that so? You truly believe that your puny revenge is worth the elimination of so many lives? Very well, If you will not reconsider, come at me, try your best!”

(Play Music)

Kronos: “I plan to!” Kronos charged Toku, swinging his sickle violently at him, the force of that blast would even kill a god if it wasn’t blocked. All Toku did was raise one finger and calmly start to chant.

Toku: “Fires of Hell; Light of Heaven; Tame the thunderous roar of the underworld; Release the power of the hidden; Engulf the unworthy with your searing flames. Hado 120; TENKA!” The moment Toku finished, Kronos’ sickle slammed into Toku’s finger with incredible force. The entire area exploded violently. Easily covering an area 200 feet in each direction. The fire quickly engulfed Bukimi and the rest. Isaac covered his face with his arms before realizing the fire wasn’t affecting him.

Isaac: “What on earth did he do?”

Makoto: “I don’t know, I have never seen that Kido before. I did hear rumors about some really talented Kido user in squad 4, but I never really put stock in them.”

Bukimi: “Whatever it is, look!”

The fire and subsequent smoke cleared away, revealing Kronos to be lying facedown, a hundred yards away, Toku stood in the same position, now in manifestation form. Bukimi gulped. She had never seen his manifestation before. It was by far the creepiest one she had ever seen. There were several small flames floating around in midair. Kronos stood up, growling angrily.

Kronos: “I underestimated you. That won’t happen again. I forgot about you Shinigami and your Kido.”

Toku’s eyes stared at Kronos without speaking. The eyes were completely different than before and were by far the most intimidating part of his manifestation. He slowly drew the red longbow that was strapped to his hip and pointed it at him. Kronos understood the message.

Kronos: “So…You intend to end this? You have much control over Loki’s power, but that will not be enough to-” He grunted in pain and looked at his shoulder to see an arrow sticking out of it.

Toku: “I thought you said you were not going to underestimate me anymore?”

Kronos chuckled: “That I did.”

Kronos seemed to disappear, reappearing behind him, already in mid-slash. Toku spun around, slamming his bow into Kronos’ sickle. The resulting force caused a shockwave that nearly blew the others away. Toku jumped in the air and Kronos followed. They exchanged a devastating series of blow with each other. Toku managed to get behind Kronos, firing several red arrows at him. Faster than Toku could blink, Kronos spun around, spinning his sickle with inhuman speed, deflecting the arrows. Kronos charged one of his Distortion Beams and fired it at Toku. Toku dodged the attack with a flash step, but couldn’t completely evade the attack, he gripped his arm, which was bleeding pretty bad, and continued to stare at Kronos, his eyes drilling into him, unblinking. Kronos growled as his expression remained the same. All of this happened in the space of 20 seconds. Bukimi gulped.

Bukimi: “Man…that’s insane.”

Isaac: “No…it’s not. Remember, Bukimi, and you too, Makoto. You can do that as well. I’m not sure how, but Toku just seems to be a natural at these types of fights.”

Makoto: “I remember a conversation I once heard about Toku. A bunch of squad 4 members were talking about how his zanpakuto was purely combat based. They said he used to be a member of squad 11 for a short time, but requested to be put in squad 4. I asked them why, but all they said was he didn‘t like it there.”

Kronos: “You’re very strong. I will fight you with everything I have. Can you keep up with a god level fight?”

Toku’s eyes continued to burn through Kronos, as if he was seeing every sin, every thought, every memory that Kronos has ever had. His expression remained as he spoke. “No…I probably cannot, you are infinitely more experienced than me, but you are out of practice, and I have friends to back me up.”

As if they could hear him, Bukimi, Makoto, and Isaac all flash-stepped into the air, surrounding Kronos. Toku calmly began to heal his wound with Kido. Due to him being in manifestation, he was able to do it in only a few seconds. Kronos looked around at them.

Kronos: “Very well, let’s go.” The hourglass on his sickle flipped again, speeding up time. Kronos attacked Bukimi first, appearing in front of her before she had time to react. He slashed down only to have Makoto block it. He used his Supidosesshon to get there in time to block it, responding with a quick barrage of attacks, the attacks were extremely fast due to the mixture of Supidosesshon and his Supidomasuta, which increased his melee attacks by 100%, despite all this, Kronos seemed to block each one by once again, using his time effect to double his speed. He blocked an attack with his sickle and slammed his fist into Makoto’s gut, sending him flying. A bit of blood flew out of his mouth as he landed.

Bukimi: “MAKOTO!” She quickly headed towards Makoto. Kronos took aim at her, preparing to fire his distortion beam at her, Kronos barely started charging it before being hit in the gut as well, by a large thick log. He grunted and grabbed the log, throwing it at Isaac, the one who had created it using his Logos ability. Isaac thrust one of his axes in front of him, slicing the log cleanly in half. Kronos charged him while he was distracted. Isaac cursed and raised his other axe to block, Kronos slammed his sickle through his guard, his sickle slicing into his side. Isaac grunted in pain, somehow managing to stay standing.

Kronos: “You’re good, but this is it!” As he said it, a fire arrow pierced his back, one eye twitched, the only reaction to the pain. He turned to see Toku standing there, his bow pointed at him.

Toku: “Don’t tell me you forgot about me?”

Kronos: “Not at all, I was saving you for last seeing as you are the most irritating of them.”

Toku: *Switches to his crossbow* “We’ll see how annoying I can really be.”

Kronos thinks to himself: “That bow…it’s made of leaves? What is he playing at? How is it different from the red one?” Kronos growled and fired his distortion beam at Toku. Toku didn’t dodge, like Kronos thought he would, he quickly fired 3 green arrows into the ground in front of him, in the shape of a triangle. As the blast passed through the triangle, several hundred green arrows shot out of it, chipping away at the blasts power, the blast slammed into Toku, knocking him back a step.

Toku: “Ugh…so that’s it. You’re distortion beam is your biggest weakness. You need all your concentration to use it.”

Kronos: “Grr, so that’s what his plan was.” While this was happening, Makoto was safely taken a little bit away. Bukimi flash stepped behind Kronos and began to slash at him furiously.

Bukimi: “You…aren’t…going…anywhere!” She continued to slash at him. He blocked the attacks. Isaac quickly got his momentum back and joined the assault. Kronos fought with the two of them for a few minutes. Bukimi and Isaac managed to land several blows to him, only to have him shrug them off and respond in kind. Toku watching from a few feet away.

Toku: “Almost…”

Kronos fired another Distortion Beam from his sickle, forcing the other two to retreat a few steps. Kronos suddenly gasped and fell to his knee as wave after wave of agony flashed through his arm.

Kronos: “What…the hell! What…did they…do?”

Toku: “Dadoku. Any wound inflicted by my bow causes intense pain after a few minutes. There is no way to stop this and it will double in only a few more since I injured you twice.”

Isaac: “Impressive.”

Bukimi: *Readies her swords*

Kronos laughed: “You think it’s that easy?” He released an incredible amount of spiritual pressure, enough that the Pseudo-Shinigami had to step back to avoid the brunt of it. “I am an ancient deity! I am Kronos and you think I am going to lose due to a bit of pain? You foolish mortals have underestimated me for the last time! I shall show you what happens to those that anger the strongest of god’s! I shall-” He was cut off as the area under his feet turned blood red. He looked down to see a red arrow sticking out of the ground in front of him. An instant later, he was engulfed as several thousand arrows shot out of the ground.

Toku: “That one is called “Yoyuta Tsunami” He smirked. “You call yourself the strongest god, but you aren’t, not anymore. You are stronger than each of us individually, but your anger betrays you. The longer this battle progresses, the lower your chances of winning become as we learn more and more about you AND your weaknesses.”

Bukimi and Isaac once again surrounded Kronos. Makoto recovered himself and flash-stepped back to join the fight, pointing his blade at Kronos, who was unharmed by the arrows, and glared at them.

Kronos thought to himself: “These shinigami are pests. To think that they still believe they can win.” *Out loud* “These are your last words, make them count.”

Bukimi: “Like we said. We aren’t planning on dying anytime soon.”

(Meanwhile)

Lushi: “Mishiranu!” She ran towards her, climbing through the rubble. “Are you okay?”

Mishiranu allowed herself to be helped to her feet: “Yes, I’m fine, he must have known he would be hard pressed to win under the circumstances. He probably has somewhere to be. It really sucks though…after all the trouble we went through to get a winning combination.”

Bluebell nodded: “I agree, it’s too bad.” She looked down at the ground, underneath which was several hundred copies of Kowareta’s cero-like blasts. Bluebell had managed to tweak the attack enough to be able to use them as mines. At her command, the cero’s would fire straight at Odin. Of course, that was only if they could force Odin into the exact right spot. “Still…I wonder why he left.”

Shiva: He sensed the death of one of his comrades.

Mishiranu: What? What do you mean?

Shiva: The god Takemikazuchi has died.

Mishiranu: When? Who?

Shiva: It was by the hands of Shenlong and it was just a little while ago.

Bluebell: “What happened?” she could easily see the odd look on Mishiranu’s face.

Mishiranu: “One of the gods is dead.”

Lushi: “That’s good right? That’s why we came here.”

Bluebell: “Who did it?”

Mishiranu: “Another god by the name of Shenlong. This helps us, but it is a little odd to have so many god’s fighting at the same time that we come here.”

Lushi: “Could they be helping us?”

Mishiranu: “I doubt it goes that far, but it’s obvious they disagree with the god’s that are trying to kill us. Either way we should follow the god’s that were fighting.”

Bluebell: “We’re not going anywhere until sleeping beauty over there wakes up.” *Motions over to Kowareta*

Mishiranu nodded: “Okay, everyone rest for now, we will get moving as soon as Kowareta is healed.”

Lushi sighed: “We need Toku for this kind of thing.”

It's BP's turn, but he said he'll be gone for a while, so if there's no word from him in the next day, I'm gonna post.

Isaac: So you're finally going to show how I fight properly?

Exorcist: You be quite. Your Logos ability is difficult to use against other characters without utterly being uber. Why do you think you're the only one who is yet to master your manifestation? Thank god it's Cronos with his time manipulation. You can go all out for once in your brief life.

Isaac: Am I finally going to master my manifestation?

Exorcist:......Stay tuned to find out.

Isaac: That's a no.

Exorcist: I said stay tuned!!!

Guys, I've decided to leave the RP. You may kill off my chars if you wish, or make them run away whichever. The reason is, is I can't think of any more ideas, and other things keep distracting me from Fanpop too. I'm sorry for keeping you waiting this long time for nothing. I may come on still to read your posts at least, and mabey comment on the side, if that's alright with you guys.

Sounds fine to me. Sorry to see you leave. I liked your characters.

Toku: "So you gonna call dibs on any of em?"

Wantadog: "Shush!"

Mishiranu: "I wanna take a crack at Kronos!"

Wantadog: "You heartless wench!!!!"

BP: "Wantadog...why does this have plans already written down?"

Wantadog: "NOOO that's my dia....journal..."

Whiteflame: *grins* "Dia? Dia what Wantadog?"

Exorcist: *Confused expression* "Ya...Dia what?"

Wantadog: "Dia...dia....Die all of you?"

BP: "Like anyone would believe that!"

Gaia: "How could you! What did we do?!"

BP: *Facepalm* "Facepalm"

Whiteflame: "Why did you say facepalm?"

BP: "The situation required a verbal confirmation of facepalmification."

Wantadog: "Facepalmification?"

BP: *Nods* "Facepalmification."

Whiteflame: "So what were we talking about again?"

Frost: "Fazoodle."

Wantadog: "Oh...that........why are you even here? You haven't technically rejoined yet."

Frost: *Casually* "Wantadog, you bastard, silence!"

Whiteflame: *Hands Fazoodle gift* "Take it."

Fazoodle: "What is it?"

Whiteflame: "Hair...from a unicorn."

BP: "That was not a unicorn, that was me, you jerk!"

Whiteflame: "Don't ruin the gift!"

Fazoodle: *Puts hair down* "Uh....thanks?"

Exorcist: "Dia...dia...dia....hmm...."

BP: "Here's my gift."

Fazoodle: "I don't want hair..."

BP: "Hahaha, I know. That's why I got you the whole head!"

Whiteflame: O_O

Fazoodle: O_O

Wantadog: "Don't ask about who's head....you don't wanna know..."

Fazoodle: "What's your gift?"

Wantadog: *Hands sword to you* "There...a real life zanpakuto."

Fazoodle: "WOW! REALLY!"

Wantadog: "Nope, it's just something I found lying around..."

Fazoodle: "No special properties?"

Wantadog: "Every so often, it turns into a white little thing that goes on long rambling speeches."

BP: "Oh, come on! Who would think of something that far-fetched?!"

Whiteflame: "Ya, not realistic at all."

Sword: "FOOL!!"

Whiteflame and BP: O_O, O__O, O___O, O____O

BP: Wow...he's so distracted by the Soul Eater refference that he hasn't even finished his post.

Whiteflame: He'll get around to it...eventually.

[Isaac achieves Communion!] Play Music

Cronus lifted his scythe and leaned it across his shoulder as he took a deep breath, holding his free hand out toward them.

“Come on.” He said as he curled his fingers toward himself in a provoking fashion. “I’ll show you why the Pantheon fears the Titanomachy as the greatest war they have every faced. I will show you why time cannot ever be conquered.”

“Don’t be so sure of yourself.” Bukimi warned as her form appeared from the sand below Cronus, rising like long tendrils to wrap around the titan. Cronos swung his scythe around with incredible speed, splitting right through the sand, scattering it. In the same moment, Makoto appeared lightly behind Cronos in midair, jabbing out with one of his weapons. Cronos whirled around just then as well, swinging his scythe along with him. Makoto managed to block this strike, though barely, and made sure to lock the blade of the sickle in between his weapon’s hilt, keeping Cronos from moving. Toku appeared directly above Cronus, aiming his crossbow down at him, and fire three arrows that formed a triangle that surrounded the titan. A stream of arrows showed upward like a geyser that enveloped the titan, but the three were surprised as Cronos appeared directly behind Toku, barrel rolling slowly as he swung his scythe around with incredible momentum.

“Hainawa!” Bukimi called as a rope of gold energy wrapped around Toku’s ankle. She yanked downward and pulled Toku out of the way just in time as Cronos’ scythe cleaved the area where Toku had been a moment before.

“You won’t be able to out speed time, child.” Cronos muttered as he continued his midair revolution and swung his scythe around once more. Toku held his hands up as he landed on the ground with Bukimi.

“Bakudo 81, Danku!”

The invisible wall of energy erected just in time to block the distortion beam as it flew down on them and a cold sweat went down Toku’s forehead as Cronos vanished from sight once more.

“That beam distorts time…” Toku muttered with a dry smile. “Doesn’t it?”

“Right you are, shinigami.” Cronos replied as he lifted his scythe to press the blade against Toku’s neck. “You are moving as slow as sloths from my perspective.”

“Really? Well then, I guess we’ll just have to make you move just as slow, huh? Shibireyubi!”

Toku raised his fingers to hover above the bridge of Cronos’ nose as a pulse of energy emitted from his fingers, and Toku ducked immediately as Cronos swung his scythe, barely missing Toku’s neck.

“I thought so.” Toku muttered as he quickly hopped away. “You’re moving twice as fast as us, aren’t you? There is no way you would have nearly hit my like that otherwise.”

“Knowing this won’t help you.” Cronos muttered as he prepared to give chase. But suddenly, a thick glowing yellow rope wrapped around Cronos’ wrist, stopping his advance. He raised his other hand to rip the kido spell apart, but the same spell wrapped around his other wrist, forming him to hold his arms out like he was pretending to be a plane. Bukimi and Makoto stood on either side of him at a good distance, holding the other ends of the spell taut. Toku held his hands out.

“Hado 64, Rikujokoro!”

Six bars of light slammed into Cronos’ body, holding him in place, completely paralyzing, him. He stared at Toku with a bored expression.

“What are you after?” He asked carelessly. Toku grinned.

“Ask Isaac.”

Cronos turned his attention to the bleach haired boy standing nearby, glaring at Cronos with his eyebrows scrunched together in concentration. He needed to get this right. I couldn’t have a mix up like last time—he needed to completely seal the titan without messing up. He needed something he was sure would work…

“Logos!” Isaac called as the air suddenly froze around him. Everyone, including Cronos, was surprised as a huge metal safe suddenly appeared around Cronos’, completely encasing his body. The Hainawa ropes seemed to still be attached through the walls of the container as the door to it shut and the large wheel on it spun rapidly as the sound of several locks clicking echoed through the air. Seven spired of metal also appeared in the air and slammed into the safe, piercing through the center, where Cronos was. Isaac let the breath he was holding out slowly as he lowered his arms. Had he succeeded?

“Nice one, Isaac!” Bukimi called with a big smile. “You stopped him!”

Before Bukimi could finish what she was saying, a figure burst straight from the side of the safe, standing slightly in midair as he swung a large, deadly scythe in a complete circle. Makoto called out desperately in warning as Toku fired several arrows in Bukimi’s direction. The arrows managed to graze Cronos’ arm and the titan flinched slightly, just enough to mess up his aim. The scythe split right through Bukimi’s side, but didn’t cut through completely. Bukimi fell to the ground as blood spilled from the gash and Cronos raised his scythe over his head and pierce Bukimi’s heart.

“Stop it!” Makoto cried as he charged forward, spinning fiercely like a tornado. Cronos whirled around like a whip, slashing out at Makoto. Horus’ battle instincts had taken over the shinigami’s instincts, however, and Makoto narrowly evaded what should have been an undodgeable attack as he quickly lashed out at the titan in anger. Toku backed up Makoto with a salvo of arrows, but Cronos was moving so quickly that he was able to deflect Makoto’s attacks and dodge/block the arrows at once.

Isaac could only stare in awe as the fighting ensued. His trap hadn’t worked. Cronos had someone managed to break out of his bonds despite being layered with sealing techniques. Which meant Isaac’s Logos hadn’t been strong enough. He needed to think of a more powerful seal—

Isaac was surprise as a hand clapped over his eyes, blocking his vision as he focused on Cronos, who was moving rapidly around the flying Makoto. He couldn’t see a thing—how could he aim?

“Stop thinking.” A female voice ordered. “Stop worrying. Stop rationalizing. Your thoughts are cluttering your creative mind.”

“Who are you?” Isaac demanded. He couldn’t move his body at all, and the sound of fighting was gone. For all he knew, he may not have been on the field where the others were anymore. He was scared now. Had he been caught by the enemy?

“I am an ally.” The voice assured. “And perhaps your only hope for survival.”

The hand suddenly lifted from Isaac’s eyes and Isaac was surprised to see a woman with long dark hair wearing casual human clothes staring at him without expression. For a moment, a nagging suspicion that he knew this person tugged in the back of Isaac’s head, then he remembered.

“You’re that woman I killed back on my last mission as part of the 2nd squad.” He said in awe. The woman smiled slightly.

“You never killed me, actually. It takes more than that to take the life of a goddess.”

“Goddess?”

“That’s right. Don’t you remember what I told you?”

Isaac’s eyes widened as the woman morphed into another person—an elderly man with halfmoon glasses and sky blue eyes. It was the same man that Isaac had met years ago. He was the one who had introduced Isaac to the world of mythology and helped him figure out who his deity was. Isaac had thought it was a normal, kind mortal…

“Pallas Athena, daughter of Zeus, favored heroes.” The man said with a bright look in his eyes. “She helped Odysseus reach his home once more despite Poseidon wishing to see him dead. She helped Perseus slay the Gorgon, Medusa. She even assisted Dionysus to find his dead mother. She helped many more, no doubt, but they never knew it was her. Athena’s mother can change forms at will—into anything. As such, Athena can change her form into any human, allowing her disguise her appearance quite easily.”

“Athena…” Isaac’s eyes widened in awe. “You helped me all of those times?”

“It was for the sake of this war with the radicals.” The old man sighed. “And we Greeks knew that Cronos would awaken once more. We cannot allow him to meet with the other radicals—it would be most hazardous. That is why I am entrusting his sealing to you.”

“But I can’t! I tried, and he broke out of it easily!”

“Don’t be ridiculous. The only reason he managed to get out was because of how unoriginal your plot was. A safe? My grandfather is no treasure to be protected from the outside elements. You must create something meant to hold a titan in place. There are numerous sources for you to use, so use them. You are my pride, Isaac Minene. I know that you can succeed if you put your mind to it.”

Isaac grimaced. He was still far from sure. He’d poured all of his concentration into that safe. How…

Dear god, he was stupid.

It was conceptual. Of course! It was glaring him in the face. As Athena said, the safe could not hope to hold something in, as its purpose is to keep things out! He had been thinking too much! The obvious things were exactly what he needed to pay attention to—the details would only hinder what he creates! He needed to be creative, eh? Well, he could simply use what was already given to him. He thought that sealing a titan would be nigh on impossible, but he’d seen it done. Cronos had TOLD them it could be done.

“I understand.” Isaac sighed, his tense body finally relaxing. “Thank you, Athena. I finally understand why my Logos has been acting up.”

“Of course you do. You’re smart.”

Isaac was surprised to see the woman standing before him now. She had long fair hair and a shape gaze that dug into his sole. She wore an elegant Greek dress that shone with energy. Was this beautiful woman the goddess’ true form?

“Go.” The woman said shortly. “You allies need you. Only you can hope to keep up with Cronos’s speed. I assume you know why?”

“Yes.” Isaac knelt on one knee before the goddess, bowing his head. “If he is quickening himself by altering time so that he moves twice as fastest, than I shall half to simply move twice as fast in order to keep up. I won’t let you done, Lady Athena. You have my word—I shall stop your grandfather.”

“It’s already been foreseen.” Athena sighed as she turned away and began to walk off. “Do not disappoint me, Isaac.”

The next thing Isaac knew, he was standing in the same spot where he’d been previously. The fighting had not progressed for a second—the same scene he’d seen before Athena had blinded him was before him. Bukimi was hurt and Makoto was angry. If nothing was done, Makoto would sustain a serious injury, trying to keep up with the titan on instinct alone.

Isaac inhaled deeply and released it slowly as he held his two small axes out at his sides. He could feel the power of his manifestation coursing through his body. He had finally become one with Athena. They were no longer two halves, but one whole. He felt light—as if he no movement could fatigue him. He was in the best shape he’d ever been in.

“Enough of this!” Cronos said fiercely as he swung his scythe around, knocking Makoto’s weapon out of his hand with the shaft of the scythe. “You’re finished, shinigami!”

“Then it’s time to swap out your opponents.”

Cronos was surprised as Isaac appeared before him, one axe raised to block the scythe’s blade. That speed…this shinigami had performed a perfect god’s step?!

“Don’t get cocky, you brat.” Cronos swung his scythe around once more, slashing toward an open area underneath Isaac’s arm. But rather than severing Isaac’s arm off, Isaac blocked with his axe. He’d barely managed to keep up with the strike, but that was shocking as it was. But as Cronos continued to attack, Isaac’s movements sped up as well. This boy…he was becoming faster with every strike?!

Cronos glared into Isaac’s eyes and was surprised by what he saw. Those hard, expressionless eyes that held no emotion…only a sense of duty and loyalty. He knew those eyes.

“Athena!” Cronos roared fiercely as he swung his scythe around, his energy flaring. “You dare to defy me?!”

“Do not be so impertinent, grandfather.” Isaac replied. His speech pattern changed, though it still sounded like his voice. “I am loyal to my father’s pantheon—I always have been. I care not for what you accuse me of; I will always stand in your way if it proves to be the best option.”

“But to side with these shinigami, of all people?” Cronos demanded as they continued to trade fiercely blows. “You should be ashamed! Where is your pride as an immortal?!”

“Sometimes…there is more pride in assisting those outside our ethnic group. I see no reason to oppress humans. They are just like us, if not more engaging. Their creativity transcends my own, in some cases.”

“If you really wish to be with humans, then become one and die like one!” Cronos roared as he swung his scythe out at Isaac’s neck. Sudden, an arrow sprouted from Cronos’ shoulder and he began to roar with anger as pain shot through his body.

“Your anger is slowing you substantially.” Isaac warned as he drew back. An owl was standing by Makoto and Toku, who were keeping their distance. Both seemed to be speaking to themselves—chanting. “You failed to notice something quite significant.”

“And what would that be?” Cronos demanded as he ripped the arrow from his shoulder.

“Well, for one, you’re outnumbered. But even worse than that, you’re outmatched.”

“Don’t be ridiculous.” Cronos growled. “You think you are stronger than me?”

“Alone, never. But together? Teamwork can put us worlds above you.”

“Hado 88, Hiryugekizokushintenraihou!” Makoto and Toku called out at once, and the blasts of energy fired from either side of Cronos. The titan snorted.

“Far too slow to even touch me.” He muttered as he vanished. Isaac sighed.

“Logos.”

A small genie lamp appeared directly either of the blasts and sucked them directly into them, catching every bit of energy. Isaac hurried forward and caught the lamps and whirled around, pointing them both in a single direction as the blasts fired from the lamps, heading directly toward Cronos, who appeared right at the spot Isaac predicted. Cronos cursed aloud as he saw the two blasts approaching. Could he make it?

The explosion shook the ground as the two blasts collided and smoke filled the air. Isaac glanced to his right and saw the injured Cronos standing not too far away, his body covered in wounds.

“You’re far too weak after spending so long sealed away.” Isaac murmured calmly. “You can hardly take a goddess along with two god-level fighters.”

“Why don’t you fight me in your true form, then?” Cronos demanded. “Rather than possessing that host?”

“Possessing? From the start, you have been fighting five people. Bukimi, Makoto, Toku, and me. I am both Isaac and Athena at once. This is what you might call, a ‘perfect manifestation’. I believe I shall name it ‘Communion’, as we have finally communed as one. I am two minds that share the same goal and intent. My powers are that of the shinigami Isaac Minene, and the goddess, Pallas Athena. You would never understand ‘empathy’, I would guess.”

“Do you think you can kill me, then, Athena? You’ve always held the unborn desire to become a mortal. This is the closest you will ever get. Now that you have achieved that goal, do you intend to use it to your advantage to do away with all that oppose the gods?”

Isaac trained his eyes on the ground melancholically. “No. Once this war is over, I will become two beings once more and never come to exist again. Isaac will go his own way as his own person, and Athena will continue on as an immortal goddess. There is no to take away the life that Isaac has for Athena’s own selfish desire.”

Isaac sighed as he focused on Cronos again. “That aside, I never intended to fight you from the beginning. If I simply fought you, I’m sure that I might lose. No, rather than that, I decided to trap you.”

“Trap?”

“Indeed. Observe. Logos!”

Cronos’ eyes widened as a strange substance began to swirl around him, encasing his whole body in a spherical mass.

“What is this?” He demanded as he swung his scythe out. The blade didn’t even scratch the shell that was forming. It looked just like…an egg.

“You say that the egg you used to survive cannot be hatched for millennia. In that case, if I recreate the substance of the egg and trap you in it, I can create an egg with will keep you inside for all eternity, and will never hatch.”

“Impossible! You’ve never had the chance to figure out what the egg is made out of!”

“Exactly. I never needed to actually see it. That gives me an advantage. When a person imagines what something is like, it turns out to be a lot worse and more drastic that it is in reality. That is where fear comes from. If I imagine something without having actually seen it, I can create something much more powerful and absolute than it is originally. That is the power of Logos.”

“NO!” Cronos roared as the egg began to form solidly around him. “I will not have this! I cannot lose!”

“I would prefer to simply kill you, but the prophecy forbids me from killing my grandfather. I do not know if you should be grateful for this or if you should mourn…but your eternity shall be most uneventful.”

The sound of Cronos’ screams vanished as the egg encased him completely and fell the ground with a heavy thud. Isaac sighed as he pressed his fingers to his temple.

“Are you alright?” Toku asked as he rushed over. But Isaac waved him off briskly.

“Just a little headache. It’s the side effect of using Logos. More importantly, Bukimi’s life is in jeopardy. He’s lost much blood and he’s on the brink of death.”

Hey guys, so I have a bit of time to go on the net today... So I figured I'd write my own farewell skit for Fazoodle, and then write a couple of posts.

Wantadog: And, where have you been?

Bp: A story is required?

Wantadog: Yes, darn right... Beats having to listen to that stupid sword, anyway.

Bp: Fine, I'll- *Sword interrupts*

Sword: A story? Well, I have story for you. A fine story, one that was born off the steppes of Mongolia, on a sunny afternoon - wait, a wintry morning... No, no, it was the middle of the day, cloudy, and a certain warlord was contemplating a long battle, of the like that had never been s-

Bp: Oh, hell no! Shut up you decrepit, old relic!!! *writes sword out of skit* That's better.

Wantadog: Anyway, your story?

Bp: Oh yeah, that stupid piece of crap distracted me. Well, it isn't much of a story... My laptop broke, so I had to fix another one in order to use the internet.

Wantadog: You were right... That wasn't very interesting.

Bp: Oh, shush.

Exorcist: Finally, that sword is gone... I was beginning to lose my mind.

Bp: That's assuming you hadn't already lost it.

Exorcist: Heh, Bp's back... The comedy begins once more.

Wantadog: Silence! I had not yet finished my story. I was telling about a certain warlord from Mongolia-

Exorcist: NOOOOOOOO!!!! Wantadog has been possessed by the sword!

Bp: Okay. *Writes the sword out of Wantadog's body*

Exorcist: Whew... Hey! Wasn't this meant to be a farewell post to Fazoodle? There isn't much farewells going here.

Bp: Quiet! The farewells customarily come at the end, not the beginning...

Exorcist: That doesn't make any sense! Why at the end?

Bp: Well, why the hell would I write a 'farewell' at the beginning, that makes no sense at all. A farewell is to say goodbye and that always comes at the end of a friendship, or time of knowing someone... and also, at the 'end' of a skit...

Exorcist: Mhmmmm, whatever...

Whiteflame: Well, look what the cat dragged in... If it isn't Bp. Actually, the farewell thing does make sense, Exorcist.

Exorcist: Oh, be quiet *Goes off to sulk*

Bp: Whiteflame! Long time, no see.

Fazoodle: Hey, Bp...

Bp: Fazoodle, my man... So, your leaving, are you? What a shame... We'll all miss you.

(It was great having you on this forum, and getting to over a thousand posts with you, Fazoodle. Good luck on your endeavours, my man.)

[Catastrophe! Kasumioji Takeover] - Side Story

(A normal quiet day, but there was something slightly ominous about it, as though something unexpected was to occur; Lady Rurichiyo sat upon her throne, her thoughts distracted and her eyes glancing off into space. Lord Shu sat next to her, his eyes also distracted and thoughts also running through his head, babbling like a rocky brook. Both were tired, but also wired, as neither had slept the previous night.)

Shu: A penny for your thoughts?

Rurichiyo: Nothing. I'm worried, that's all. Where is Ciela, she was meant to meet with us...?

Shu: I haven't seen her.

(Finally Masahi entered the chambers)

Masahi: My lady, my lord *He bowed courteously*

Rurichiyo: Have you seen Ciela?

Masahi: No, my lady, I'm afraid that I have not.

Rurichiyo: Well, then I'll say my piece to you, too. I did have something I needed to talk to you about, Masahi...

Masahi: As you wish, my lady.

Rurichiyo: I am conflicted, Masahi. You are sneaky, conniving and infuriating, but you also make very good points at times, and you are an excellent advisor. I wish you to stay on as my advisor, under the condition that you are considerate to Ciela.

Masahi: So, you see through me, my lady? That was to be expected... So, I'll list my demands now. You will do as I say, or else your precious Ciela will suffer the consequences. I have been creating new and improved Bakkoto in secret, and I will use them to have my revenge on the Shinigami. You will keep this a Kasumioji clan secret, until I am ready for the Shinigami to know about the power of these new weapons. If anyone finds out about this, I will let you take the blame for these weapons. I will simply claim to know to nothing about them and the Shinigami will blame you for the crime and incarcerate you for it. Do I make myself clear?

Rurichiyo, a vein throbbing on her forehead: YOU BASTARD!!! How dare you?! Blackmail me? I'll go along with your little plan for now, but I will find a way to stop you!

Shu: You sneaky bastard, Masahi... You'll pay for this!

Masahi, grinning: This couldn't have gone any better... Anyway, I also want one other thing from you; I wish you to obtain the Diadem for me, then I'll also have Kido to use against the Shinigami and take their Kido away from them.

Rurichiyo: No!

Masahi: If you don't, I'll have Ciela killed... I believe she is fighting with my subordinates as we speak.

Rurichiyo deflated: Whatever, I'll find the Diadem for you... Now get out of my sight, you worthless traitor.

Masahi: My pleasure.

-Meanwhile-

(Ciela is fighting a bunch of assassin-looking men, who are wielding strange swords, that oddly resemble the Bakkoto, weapons that had been forbidden many, many years ago. She knew this had to be the work of Masahi and she feared for the Princess's life. Ciela swung her Zanpakuto around and parried another blow from a Bakkoto. The men she were fighting were weak, even though their powers had been augmented by a huge amount.)

Ciela: Die!

(Ciela cut through another assassin, kicked him backwards, just in time to parry another blow. Ciela parried the blow, kicked out the one who struck the blow, knocked him backwards, then pirouetted, spinning int oanother assassin and cutting him deeply. Ciela looked up, as the assassins suddenly disappeared. Masahi appeared in front of her, a weapon attached to his arm.)

Masahi: Dear Ciela... I'm afraid, you are no match for me. (His reiatsu flares around him, an eerie purple colour)

Ciela: We'll see. Stab, Toukenyari!

-To Be Continued-

(Anyway, I'm going to make another Kido, I think. Lol. Check Characters clan in about ten fifteen minutes.)

[The Assault Begins...]

(Ajisukitakahikone, Odin, Izanami, Anubis and Ares gathered for one last final meeting. The idea was to decide the battle plan, in order to prevent any more casualities, as well as a decent of the tactics they would employ. They had been arguing about it for some time and each God was growing impatient, A-kone the most of them all, which was understandable, given recent events.)

A-kone: I say we await our new comrade, then we attack in groups of two, rather than individually... That way, we stand a greater chance of victory, especially if we manage to catch the Unradicals off guard and minus some of their members.

Ares: I don't fight with anyone else!

Anubis: I don't really care, but if I have to be partnered with someone, then I want it to be Odin - we understand each other and fight with somewhat similar styles.

Izanami: I can fight alone... I don't need anyone's help.

Odin: I agree with Anubis.

A-kone: Screw this! I'm done arguing with you... if you want to be cowards, Izanami and Ares, then do it someplace else! (A-kone stalked off, a infuriated look on his face)

Odin: Seriously. Can't we just help each other? We all have the same goal, so what is the problem?

Ares: It's against my code of honour.

Izanami: I hate fighting with others, they always get in my way...

Odin: Of course... Well, you are just going to have to get over it, because this is growing tiresome. Come, Anubis, we'll discuss our tactics and leave these two to come to some agreement-if that is possible.

Anubis: A good idea.

Ares and Izanami: WAIT! Don't leave me alone with- (stare at each other with dislike on their faces, then turn away from each other)

Izanami: Brutish man...

Ares: Devilish, conniving woman...

-Meanwhile-

(Ajisukitakahikone is pacing his chambers, wondering what to do with Ares and Izanami, when suddenly, Kronos stepped in to his room.)

A-kone, looking surprised: I thought you were sealed away?

Kronos: Not at all. I am an elder God and control time to a portion, at that... I would not let some silly, little egg bring me down. I have a plan, if you wish to hear it.

A-kone: Yes, of course I do.

Kronos: (Whispered plan in A-kone's ear) Well, what do you think?

A-kone: Great! That is what we'll do then. I have a request of you.

Kronos: Yes?

A-kone: Do you know how we would convince Izanami and Ares to work together? They seem to be having 'loner' issues at the moment. In other words, they refuse to fight with any others.

Kronos: I'll see what I can do.

(Kronos left, looking somewhat bored)

Ares: Stupid bitch!

Izanami: Fucking bastard!

(Kronos appeared from the shadows and flashed between them, holding his scythe to Ares throat)

Kronos: Don't jeopardise the mission! You two will work together, otherwise you'll have to deal with me. You realise who I am, do you not?

Izanami: You...

Ares: Kronos, God of Time... I guess we have no choice, though I do not like this. I'll go along with it for the time being, however. But, Izanami, do not piss me off, or you will regret it.

Izanami: The same goes for you, my dear Ares. (Walks away)

(Kronos and Ares rejoin A-kone in his chambers.)

The kido lady's name is "Futo Minoriko", thank you very much. Stole both names from various Touhou characters. XD I can go into deep, devastating detail with her, sure. I might post a side-story where Ada enters part of Futo's subconscious and sees some of her past, or something. There are lots of possibilities.

And Kronos escaped my egg that I ripped off of Fazoodle's own creation? MADNESS! I'll just have to try again, and use a BIGGER egg! D:<

The following post uses name from Sengoku Japan and the appearances/personalities of them come from Sengoku Basara (great anime). The base of it follows what I believe Soul Society was like over 3,000 years ago. (see question that was asked in this fan spot under question, a LONG time ago)

[Side Story: Memories of a Harsher Climate]

“Einsberg-sama.” Samuel’s voice was ragged as he looked up toward the dark haired woman, who stood over the diadem of Futo Minoriko at the center of many layeres of high class barriers. “Perhaps it would be best to take a break now. After that last rampage, you and I are the only ones conscious.”

Adelheid looked around at the men all unconscious on the ground underneath the shrine gates. They were all exhausted with their spiritual reserves tapped. Every so often, a spell within the diadem would burst from the crown as they peeled away the seal on it, and they would contain it once more with their own seals. Apparently, the effort of doing it eleven times within twenty-four hours was too much for her subordinates. Only Samuel was competent enough to last so long, eh?

“Fine then.” She said as she waved her hand indifferently. “We’ll begin again within five hours.”

Relieved, Samuel allowed himself to fall back with a sigh and within a few minutes, his breathing eased and he was fast asleep. Adelheid simply snorted in mild amusement at this before turning her attention to the diadem. Lately, she’d gained a bit of an attraction to it. Such devastating knowledge and power hidden in something so small and beautiful…of course something like that would appeal to her. What bothered her, however, was that the diadem seemed to be rejecting her. Every time she attempted to dive into the diadem’s conscious (yes, it actually had one! The stored memories of Futo congregated to mimic an inactive conscious within the diadem!) she felt herself pushed away. It wasn’t violent, but no matter what she tried, she could not enter. But what was the reason? Did she not have the proper requirements? Was it mental? What it physical? There must have been something she was failing to see. She considered having Samuel touch it with his right hand, but it was still too unpredictable to take the risk. Besides, having multiple people tampering with the diadem at once might cause problems.

Adelheid reached forward with her hand slowly and stroked the diadem gently, her finger tips gently grazing the surface. Power and energy hummed against her elbow length gloves, tickling her body. It was strange. When she did it like this, without forcing her way in, the diadem seemed benign and almost friendly. However, she still could not enter its consciousness. It was as if the diadem had set up certain boundaries.

Adelheid ceased stroking the diadem as the thought occurred to her. Boundaries…? Of course! She had been trying to enter the diadem’s conscious for so long, and was rejected. But what if it was not the piece of jewelry that was rejecting her? Rather, it was Adelheid herself that was unconsciously pushing away the diadem! She was naturally wary, so even though she was eager at first, she knew that a certain caution remained behind.

Adelheid raised her hand and stared at her slender fingers for a long moment. Boundaries could indeed be mental, but could manifest themselves physically, according to psychology. Telltale signs were everywhere—had she been so slow as to not notice it until now?

Adelheid pulled the fingers of her glove off one by one, loosening them until she could pull the entire glove off with a single pull, baring her right hand completely. She grinned with slight humor as she realized that this was the exact thing that she wanted Samuel to do, albeit with different goals. She tossed the glove aside and sighed as she touched her hand to the diadem lightly.

And then she was no longer on the hill.

One moment, she was staring at the diadem, the next she was sailing through what must have been a blur of motion so quickly, she couldn’t make heads or tails of it. Though the situation might have intimidated others, she simply took a deep breath and looked down at herself. Her body was slightly transparent, as if she was some sort of ghost. She considered the possibility that she was slipping through time and space, but found it much more likely that’s she was simply entering a memory. Considering whose diadem she had touched, either was easily possible.

The blur of motion around her abruptly came to a standstill and Adelheid found herself standing in a place that resembled a street within Feudal Japan. Was this Soul Society, or somewhere else entirely?

“Get out, you obnoxious kid!” A sharp voice attracted Adelheid’s attention and she looked around. A large looking man was standing at the door of what must have been his home. “The next time I see you around here, I won’t hesitate to have you beheaded!”

The boy who the man had thrown to the ground whimpered miserably as he struggled to stick something into his mouth weakly. The man noticed and rushed forward, grabbing it out of the boy’s hand.

“So you managed to hide a piece from me, eh?!” The man glowered at the piece of bread. “You thieves have no honor or shame!”

The man kicked the boy in the gut, but the child didn’t even scream. Though he looked weak, fading scars on his body showed that he’d been abused before.

“It’s time you learned some manners.” The man began to draw a katana from his belt. Another figure suddenly rushed forward and threw themselves in front of the boy on the floor, throwing their arms out as they crouched on the floor. This one was a girl, and like the boy, she wore nothing but rags and was barefoot with dirt smudged her cheeks and old wounds very apparent on her skin. However, this girl was clearly different from the boy. She had short white hair the color of snow that had been haphazardly cut by a knife and her eyes were a deep scarlet that made you wonder if all of her tears resembled blood. Her face was fierce, unlike the whimpering boy she protected.

“Stop this!” She said as if ordering the man. “Can’t you see that he’s injured and starving to death?!”

“I plan to put this thief out of his misery.” The man growled angrily. “I don’t have time for kids who don’t even know any manners!”

“You’re being too cruel!”

“You’re just some stupid children who don’t even have enough spiritual power to wield a zanpakutou! Your lives are meaningless! But if I let you steal my food, I would have nothing to feed my family!”

“Just because you have a zanpakutou doesn’t mean we’re worthless! We’re just some people trying to live through this era of war! It is Nobudaga’s fault that this ideal that those with higher spiritual pressure are superior! We can only worry about our own well-being! Lord Hideyoshi only wishes for everyone to be in peace, so we should all live up to that ideal, not oppress and abuse a hungry kid!”

The man grimaced as several people nearby turned their attention toward the three, curious about the yelling. Clearly, he did not want to cause such a big scene.

“Shut up!” He growled as he kicked out fiercely, knocking the girl in the gut, throwing her over the boy. “Idiots like you are better off dead! This world has no need for idealistic children!”

With that, he turned around and slammed the door shut behind him. The girl slipped off of the boy carefully and shook him to make sure he was conscious.

“Here.” She said as she held out a large portion of bread. “Since you’re starving, you can have some of my food.”

Adelheid frowned as the scene began to change rapidly, everything a blur of motion once more. It was different to see things as if you were there yourself, but that scene was similar to the beginning of Futo Minoriko’s epic. In other words, she was really seeing the legendary woman’s memories? But the event was different than what she had read. There was no mention of the boy having stolen the bread to provoke a vindictive war veteran. Clearly, the legend had been altered from truth.

The next thing Adelheid knew, she was standing in an alleyway between the buildings. She could hear the bustle of a market on either side, so she knew she was nowhere near where she’d been last. Sitting against the alley wall was a young boy wrapped up in heavy clothes, looking frail and pale. He was being fed a bowl of soup by a young girl, baring the same resemblance to the girl earlier.

“Futo,” The boy mumbled as he pushed away the spoon gently. “You don’t need to keep doing this. If you’re going to work, use the money for yourself. I’ll just find a job—”

“Not while you’re sick.” The girl said firmly. “Besides, I’m saving the money I get from work. I stole this soup.”

“What?” The boy frowned at her angrily. “Futo, you know that it is wrong to steal!”

“You used to do it all the time.”

“I was hungry then! Now we can work for our food. There is no need to steal from others.”

“There is always a need, Hibiki. We’re going to need our money for important things. If we can avoid paying for things like food and clothes, they we shouldn’t bother. It doesn’t matter if we inconvenience someone else—odds they, they deserve it. There is nothing wrong with doing what we need to survive. You have a pretty face, Hibiki. Why not try selling your body?”

“No way!” Hibiki cried in surprise. “That’s worse than stealing! That’s just unethical!”

“Everything can be justified to be ethical, and vice-versa.” Futo assured as Hibiki began to cough due to getting too excited. “But don’t worry, you won’t need to do something like that. I’ve almost figured it out.”

Hibiki’s eyes widened in awe. “You’ve been digging up books in the homes of the high class families for a long time. Did you actually—”

“Yes,” Futo grinned happily. “I’ve almost figured out the reiryoku.”

Adelheid couldn’t help but feel excited as everything turned into a blur once more. She’d figured out the reiryoku at such a young age? No wonder Futo Minoriko would have been able to create something like kido on her own. Her personality was different than Adelheid had imagined, but thus far, she’d seen exactly what she wanted to see.

The next thing Adelheid saw was a scythe flying through the air right in front of her face so close, she almost flinched. The scythe smashed into a several rings of golden light that scattered and flew around the scythe and the chain it was attached to. The controller was a young man with dark hair wearing thick robes and a hood. His eyes narrowed as he clenched his hands and the rings shined brightly with rays of light that scattered through the air and rained down on the person holding the chain attached to the scythe. This man hopped in the air to dodge and yanked on the chain holding the scythe and the scythe soared up toward the man, nearly splitting through Hibiki’s neck. Hibiki quickly ducked to evade without even turning to look, keep his eyes on his opponent. The enemy was a gothic looking man with grayish colored skin, long unkempt white hair, and black lipstick smeared over his mouth. He wore black traditional armor, even though his weapon was clearly foreign.

“Mitsuhide, why did you betray your allies?!” Hibiki demanded as he swung his arms out and blasts of pure red flames flew through the air toward the man named Mitsuhide. Mitsuhide swung his scythe around with ease, splitting through the flames.

“They were your enemies, so what do you care?” Mitsuhide snickered. “Masamune was lucky to survive—why don’t you go and tend to him? Or would you like it if I simply slayed you here?”

“You sicken me!” Hibiki clapped his hands together and a spinning wheel of electricity and flames materialized before him.

“You’re one to talk.” Mitsuhide snickered as he swung his scythe in a wide arc, splitting right through the spell with ease. “You’re a failure! I heard that you went to that Daimyo named Kuchiki and told them that your mother continually told you before she died that she had had an affair with a member of the Kuchiki house, and that you were rightfully a member. Poor kid, they didn’t hesitate to deny you and kick you out, huh? I guess your appearance was hardly beneficial for their image as the perfect noble family.”

“Shut…UP!” Hibiki snarled. Mitsuhide smirked as he swung his scythe out and it went sailing toward the unguarded Hibiki’s neck. But a small orb of energy appeared in its path and deflected the scythe as the blade collided with it. Mitsuhide chuckled as he drew his scythe back into his hand.

“Couldn’t find Oichi, could you?” He said as he looked toward Futo, who now stood beside Hibiki. Adelheid was surprised by what she saw. She had the same pale skin, scarlet eyes and snow colored hair. Futo had grown up into a beautiful, tall woman that fit the description in her story perfectly, if not better. A woman with eyes of blood that looked as if she manifested out of a snow angel a princess left behind. With no blood of a noble, anyone with title mistakes her for nobility above themselves. A stoic face that could intimidate even the fiercest of Daimyo, referred to as the ‘Archmage of Hideyoshi’. The Daimyo were the strongest versions of a shinigami in this time, so Adelheid could now assume that she was just as strong solely with kido, despite not having a zanpakutou. The energy radiating from Futo now as beyond anything before. She wore pure white robes with a gold colored haori and her hair now reached her hips like a cascading water fall. In her hair was the silver crown that I would never mistake. The diadem glistened beautifully, burning with the power of its owner. I was surprised, though. I knew that she used the diadem as her main tool, but I had imagined that she would have something else, perhaps a wand or staff, as a medium for her kido. But she was completely bare-handed.

“Hibiki, don’t let his words cut into you.” Futo warned as she stepped directly in front of him. “Though he may be a general, he does not have the same principles the others do.”

“You harm me.” Mitsuhide snickered.

“Mitsuhide, right hand of Oda Nobunaga. As an enemy of the Warring States, you should understand the consequences for betrayal of your own allies. While you zanpakutou may allow you to cut through anything, even egos, you should never allow it to cut down a Kenkaku who you call ‘comrade’. Your punishment for doing this is death.”

“Care to cast judgment, Archmage?” Mitsuhide grinned as he swung his scythe around, picking up speed and momentum. Futo held one hand up slowly and crackling black energy formed in it. Mitsuhide shot forward as he swung his scythe out, letting it fly toward Futo’s neck. But a black wall shot up, blocking the scythe. Adelheid glanced around in surprise. In a single moment, a black cube had been erecting, entrapping everything in an alternate dimension. It looked incredibly different, but…was this a Kurohitsugi?

“Like I said,” Futo sighed as she swept one hand out. A thick spire of darkness shot down and impaled Mitsuhide’s foot, keeping him from moving. “Your punishment is death.”

She swept her hand again and another spire flew down and impaled Mitsuhide’s thigh while another impaled his gut.

Mitsuhide gave a masochistic blood covered grin. “Such beautiful pain…you do not show mercy when you judge the evil, eh, Futo? Do it come from your hatred for we Kenkaku?”

“I know longer feel hate toward you people.” Futo said sadly as she raised her hand. Several hundred spires rained down from above and below to lacerate every inch of Mitsuhide’s body. “I simply feel jealous.

Adelheid gasped as she felt a tugging sensation in her gut and the next thing she knew, she was sitting where she had been before, right in front of the diadem with one hand touching it. She blinked and looked around. Evening had arrived. How long had she been gone?
No, more importantly, she needed to record what she had seen. That Kurohitsugi was the only thing she’d managed to recognize. The spells had really changed over the years. That kurohitsugi had been completely different, able to completely surround the opponent and the user and trap them in an alternate dimension where black spired could strike infinitely. And the golden rings from earlier…the wheel of electricity and fire…

Adelheid raised her hand and a barrier of kido surrounding her zanpakutou formed. She took it, muttered the release, and gripped the grimoire in her hand as she wrote quickly on an empty page of the book, the letters she wrote glowing slightly, fresh and interesting to Adelheid.

To think, Adelheid thought to herself. That there would be so many inconsistencies with the story and what Futo remembers. Perhaps Futo Minoriko even knew the root of all knowledge.

Date Masamune: another shogunate general and daimyo. That was a reference to a betrayal that really happened in Sengoku era. To understand half of the references in that post, I suggest you watch Sengoku Basara. It's a samurai anime that I personally like more than Samurai Champloo, or Samurai Girls XD

Ares: How troublesome... I've been paired with the smuggest fool I've ever laid eyes on. And a woman, no less...

Kronos: Did you say something?

Ares only then realized he'd been muttering complaints under his breath. He didn't bother to change the look on his face as they entered their leader's chambers. A-Kone lifted his gaze from the floor to the two.

A-Kone: You managed to settle him down effectively, Kronos. You're becoming an invaluable asset already.

Kronos: It wasn't a difficult task. I merely had to appeal to a side of his emotions that most Gods should have forfeit long ago...

Ares' eyes widened. His knuckles whitened, and his teeth clenched. Then, clutching the hilt of the massive, chain-wrapped sword on his back, he glared at Kronos.

Ares: You're in some delusional fantasy if you think you intimidated me! I don't practice the pathetic self restrain the others do! Want to fight?! GRA-

A-Kone: Settle yourself, Ares. Kronos is joking.

His grip on his blade loosened, and his arm fell back to his side. He still wore a frightening scowl upon his face.

A-Kone: Now, go to Izanami. You don't have to get along with her. But don't outright battle with her.

Soundlessly, Ares removed his presence from the room.

A-Kone: That was risky to have done, Kronos. You may have just made an enemy within our alliance.

Kronos: Oh, we've been enemies for a long time.

A-Kone made no reply, waiting for the silence to tell Kronos to elaborate.

Kronos: Ever since he was born the son of one of my infernal children.

-Meanwhile-

Two Gods of death sat across from each other at a large, stone table, filling the room they resided in with a dark reiatsu. They spoke, but each word was swaddled with silence and seemed only audible to the other. Occasionally, the name of a Nonradical God could be heard throughout their discussion, followed by a faint description of the abilities of the God in question. Finally, each rose from their respective seats. All noise that there was before flowed out of existence.

Odin: Anubis. I've never seen you yearn for battle before.

Anubis: This is my only exception. I have unfinished business with that accursed woman.

Odin: And you really wish me to neglect interfering?

Anubis: That, I do.

Odin nodded slowly and hummed in affirmation.

Odin: Very well. If that is what you desire, then if we confront this Ma'at, I shall not assist in the ending of her life. This is war. We cannot expect the enemy to show the same honor that we do.

Anubis: I'm aware. And given the zeal of our opponents' for their blasted cause, we cannot expect them to remain idle while we strategize.

Odin: But we needn't worry... In the upcoming battle...

A-Kone: There is no doubt in my mind...

Izanami: That we will fail to...

All Radicals (in their respective locations, speaking loudly): Slay the Unradicals!

Alright, this is a bit of a long one. Inspiration hit, and it just couldn't be sated until this was finished. Renee and Isamu have gotten scant little play so far, about time they got some of the action.

Pele had taken her new residence in the moment she arrived, and she was bored by it. Her home had contained any number of natural wonders – constant volcanic activity, endless pristine oceans, glorious waterfalls and rivers, and a lush landscape. This place was a sterile room, relatively large but uninteresting. The walls were made with thick sheets of some unknown metal, all painted a boring beige. The beds and chambers were austere, containing no pleasantries. It almost made her want to return home immediately. Almost.

Then again, she hadn’t come for the lodgings.

Pele: I was made to believe that my role in all of this would be more… substantial.

Ganesha seemed to rouse himself. He had immediately planted himself on the ground and started writing intricate symbols on the wall before him. She had startled him out of his train of thought, which seemed to have nothing to do with those writings.

Ganesha: Beg your pardon?

Pele sighed with exasperation: When are we going to fight with these other gods?

Ganesha gave her a sidelong glance, continuing his work. His mind wasn’t at all focused on the present, and he made it distinctly obvious that her concerns were of little merit to him.

Ganesha: The other gods have been fighting for quite a while. I imagine they’ll return shortly, though I have not received an owl as of yet.

Pele gave him a quizzical look. What owls? There was one perched above them, staring down at them. Why send an owl? Do they send messages, like in Harry Potter? Her family had thought it strange when she picked up human literature, but she wanted to be apprised of what was going on in the human world, not a shut-in like the rest of them. Ganesha didn’t respond to her obvious befuddlement. She didn’t care enough to keep at it.

Pele: And what prevents us from participating?

Ganesha: My role is to remain here and facilitate their transport. That is all. I already went further than necessary in reaching out to you directly. If I were to be captured…

He trailed off. The Hindu god was obviously the gatekeeper for this place. There were no doors or windows, no obvious ways in or out. His power was the only entry and exit point. Perhaps he knew where they were as well. But surely, some of the other gods and goddesses knew as well. Didn’t they?

Pele: Well, if you can’t leave, why not send me?

Ganesha: You have yet to be apprised of the situation. Right now-

Pele cut him off: I can sense them as well as you can. Massive battles are going on, and you would have me sit on my hands?

Ganesha sighed: I cannot keep you here if you do not wish to be kept.

Pele: Then send me to the god realm.

Ganesha raised an eyebrow, making his already comical face look all the more so. She had to stifle a giggle.

Ganesha: The god realm is where most of the current fighting is occurring, and I can sense Athena’s presence there. It would be best if you remained-

Pele shook her head: Not to her location. To Vishnu’s.

Ganesha’s eyes widened.

Ganesha: He is not to be disturbed.

Pele: From the feeling I’m getting, he’s about to be, whether you want him to or not.

Ganesha frowned: I will not be a party to any action that would disturb Lord Vishnu’s tranquility.

Pele: So you’re willing to allow those two pseudoshinigami or whatever you call them to die?

The Hindu god’s frown deepened in thought, and for once, it seemed to be about the current situation. Then, he turned back to the wall, erased his current markings and started furiously writing others.

Ganesha: I will send you to a neutral point nearby. You are not to tell him that I did this.

Pele smiled: Your respect for your fellow god is admirable.

He didn’t respond. His attention was all focused on the writings before him. That was for the best – she might get herself into trouble with more conversation. Her respect for her elder gods had faded, but she had no reason to pass her hatred onto him. Still, she couldn’t help but bounce on the balls of her feet. A fight was coming, and whomever was with those pseudoshinigami, she would relish the opportunity.

A field of grass stretched out around them in seemingly endless miles of verdant pasture. On and on in a flat landscape it stretched, so far that the horizon itself seemed to be tinged green. Nothing but grass, and the cool wind that blew over it.

Both Renee and Isamu had long since grown bored of it as they tromped through those innumerable acres in search of… something. Renee had not been made aware of the plan, and despite asking multiple times, she’d been shut down on each attempt. And always with the same response: you’ll know when we get there. She was beginning to doubt whether even he knew.

Neither of them had noticed when they crossed over from the normal god realm into this zone. All at once, the grass formed beneath their feet, and stretched out around them infinitely. Every step had been the same since, or at least it seemed to be. They had tried to flash step to increase their pace, and Isamu had tried to god step, though both had surprisingly resulted in… nothing. The power would come to them, be directed correctly, and fizzle when they tried to use it. The same was true for all of their kido spells, and neither of them appeared to be able to activate their shikai, nor anything beyond it.

This was a strange place, and it made Renee’s skin crawl to be here. If they were attacked, the only way they could defend themselves was with their sealed blades.

As a result, they had spent most of their time running, hoping to escape this accursed area. Or at least, that’s what Renee hoped. With Isamu’s intentions here unknown, she couldn’t say whether he was trying to lead them out, or further in. Her suspicions only deepened as they went further. Each blade of grass seemed to taunt them, and her normally enduring patience seemed to thin quickly. Or perhaps it had been slowly. She couldn’t tell how long they’d been here. Time had lost all meaning. She couldn’t even sense the others.

In frustration, she ground in her heels and halted. Isamu took a few more steps before stopping, and glancing back at her with annoyance.

Isamu: We have to keep going.

Renee: Not until you tell me where we’re going.

Isamu sighed: You’ll kn-

Renee interrupted: I’ve had enough of that. We may no longer be in Soul Societys, Isamu, but I need to be informed. Where are you taking us?

Isamu frowned: You just have to trust me, Renee.

Renee: I’m running low on trust these days. Where is this place? Why are we here?

???: He can’t tell you because he doesn’t know.

Both Renee and Isamu whirled around in a panic. The man they saw sitting there was certainly an oddity. He had long, flowing black hair, a serene expression on a handsome face, a bare chest covered with beads and gold bands from several dozen necklaces, two large golden earrings so long that they draped on his shoulders, and loose yellow pants. That’s where his human aspects left off. He bore four hands, each with 2 gold bracelets on them. His skin was a sky blue color throughout. Each of his hands and feet bore 2 extra digits, bringing each to 7.

They had not passed him, and yet there he sat, only a meter behind them. His eyes were closed, his smile close mouthed and knowing. He didn’t regard them as they stared confusedly at him. It took a while for Renee to find her tongue.

Renee: Who are you?

The man chuckled: Interesting that that would be your first question, Renee Chevalier. Weren’t you more concerned with Isamu’s motives a moment ago?

Renee glowered: I think a deity appearing in our midst is cause for a change of focus.

???: Oh? You think I “appeared” do you? I’ve been here all along, as have you. You are standing in Preservation after all. Time and space apply differently here.

It was only then that Renee noticed. She could easily sense the power of Isamu, who stood right next to her. However, this god had no discernible power. None. It was as though he didn’t even exist.

Renee: Are you a projection or something?

The god ignored her question: You have invaded my sanctuary. Tell me why you have chosen to do so without knowing who I was or that I was even here, Isamu Sato.

Isamu: I… Gong Gong gave me information on-

He interrupted: No, I asked why YOU have chosen to come, not the god who has chosen to make you his vessel.

Isamu thought a moment, then spoke: I trust him.

The unknown god raised an eyebrow: Oh? And you trust him more than me?

Isamu: Obviously.

???: And why is that? Because you know his name? Because you’ve talked to him? Because he’s given you power? You trust him, despite the fact that he wouldn’t even inform you that you were heading to me?

Isamu: I don’t trust him completely, but more than I do you.

The unknown god smirked: You know of the power of my fellow gods. Did it ever occur to you that I could have killed you at any moment? And still you don’t trust me?

He had a point. If they had truly been running in place this whole time without feeling his presence, it could have been over in an instant. Why did they trust their gods, even a bit? The thought was disturbing to Renee.

Renee: We’re not here to banter with you. Who are you, and how do you know us?

???: Impatient, aren’t we? My name is Vishnu, the Preserver and Sustainer of Life. I know your names because they are who you are. They are as obvious as your faces to me. I know your gods for the same reason, though since they don’t stand before me, I refer to you as your mortal selves. I assume you both would appreciate that?

He paused, as though waiting for a response. When none was forthcoming, he sighed.

Vishnu: So, you have come to me for a reason you do not know. I do not pretend to know Gong Gong’s wishes, though I believe the reason you came here is apparent enough. Your fear of the Radical Gods’ powers is well founded, but I cannot help you.

Renee was puzzled before, now she was flabbergasted. They came here for his help ? He was a god, likely in league with the same gods trying to kill them! Thankfully, Isamu answered her concerns.

Isamu: If that’s the reason we’re here, then you must not be a Radical God. You’re the god of Presevation, or so you say. Why do you refuse?

Vishnu: A wise observer would understand why.

This time, it was Renee who answered the unspoken question.

Renee: Whichever side you join, you would preserve nothing. You obviously don’t support the death of gods. However, that means you don’t wish to protect our gods, who are obviously more vulnerable.

A sad look crossed his face.

Vishnu: Sadly, that is a loss I must accept. The gods and goddesses of order seem to have sided with protecting you, but I am not one of order. I am one of preservation. To preserve, I must allow. I will preserve nothing by obstructing, as so many have chosen to do.

Gods protecting them? This was news to her, though she had suspected as much. The clash of gods she had sensed so heavily before had to have a reason. This was probably it. Still, maybe she could use this.

Renee: But if you believe in preserv-

???: Don’t waste his time with your drivel. He wishes to be separate from this battle. Believe me, we tried.

She hadn’t felt the presence of the woman who appeared to her right until she was right on top of them, which seemed impossible, since her reishi was incredible. Strangely, she exuded no reiatsu, though perhaps that had more to do with the space in which they were standing. She was tall, standing almost a foot taller than Renee. A young, Asian woman, she sported long, flowing black hair, black robes with navy blue trim held in place with an intricate broach, and eyes of impossible colors.

Vishnu opened one eye lazily, glancing at the new arrival with a look of mixed disdain and boredom.

Vishnu: Izanami, I’ve made it very clear that no god is to use their abilities within this space.

Izanami smirked: You think I would kowtow to you? I’m not like those other sniveling wretches.

Vishnu sighed: At least Odin had some respect for the pantheon. Just the same, within this space, you will respect my wishes, or you will be forced to leave it.

Izanami raised her hands: Fine. I’m not here for you. I’m here for them.

She pointed at Renee and Isamu, both of whom reflexively went to a defensive posture. The tension in the air was palpable.

Vishnu: Come now, there’s no need to be on guard here. She cannot fight you here, not now.

Izanami: Much as it pains me to agree with him, Vishnu’s powers are indisputable. Nonetheless, he will kindly leave us b-

Vishnu: No.

A vein popped out of Izanami’s forehead.

Izanami: What was that?

Vishnu smiled: These mortals have come to me for a purpose, have they not? I patiently listened to your envoy and to Themis when she came, and gave them each polite refusals. You’ll have to exhibit the same patience.

Izanami: Oh, and here I thought this conference was over when you said you wouldn’t interfere.

Vishnu raised an eyebrow: But they have not been dismissed. You, on the other hand…

Her eyes widened: No, wai-!

Izanami vanished without a trace. It was as if she had never been there at all. Vishnu opened both eyes, regarding Renee and Isamu evenly.

Vishnu: I cannot assist you in this matter, at least not in the way you ask. However, perhaps I can impart something of myself to you that would not be recognized as involvement, something that will make it possible for you to survive the battles to come…

The god raised his hands before him, only touching the palms, thumb and pinky tips together. The rest of his fingers were raised.

Isamu: What are you-

Vishnu interrupted: This is Pankaj, or the lotus posture. My intention is to make it possible for you to bloom in the darkness.

He whispered to himself as though in meditation. Only the last few words he spoke were audible, and when he spoke them, he did so forcefully.

Vishnu: Chipi Shkti: Bala!

Nothing happened. Vishnu merely lowered his hands, and sat quietly for a moment.

Vishnu: It means Hidden Shkti: Power. Gong Gong and Anuket may provide you with incredible power, but neither can provide you with the means to wield it correctly. You don’t have their immortal bodies, their incredible experience, or their innate capacity to wield such strength. I cannot give you all of these things, but I can remove the fatigue you would otherwise feel from using their powers.

Isamu looked uncertain: Why give us this gift? I thought you were for preservation through inaction.

Vishnu gave a small smile: A wise friend once told me that inaction was, in and of itself, interference. I cannot directly take part in this war without compromising everything I hold dear, but I also cannot sit idle.

Renee: But why side with us, even to this extent?

Vishnu paused, closing his eyes. He appeared to be in thought, as though the question caught him off guard. However, when he spoke, it sounded as though he’d long since thought this through.

Vishnu: Mortals are such fascinating creatures. You create, build, modify, design and amalgamate. You fight, you struggle against all odds and forces of great power. And you kill. Species go extinct in the blink of an eye, often at the whim of humans, a species that likely won’t stand the test of time itself. I cannot change that, nor can any of the other gods. All we could do was languish and watch, and I have grown to accept that as our role. I wonder… will the precedent of Gong Gong, Anuket and the others lead to something greater?

Niether Isamu nor Renee responded. They just stared at him, taking in the contented look on his face.

Vishnu: Sadly, this is a small thing I have given you. It will not make you strong enough to face one of the gods, even together, especially not Izanami. However, I have faith in your ingenuity, and this is my one and only contribution. It is a shame only you two can receive it. Use it wisely.

The world became a blur around them, and suddenly, they were out. The green field that had surrounded them only a moment before was gone as though it had never existed. The only thing left in its place was Izanami.

Izanami: Oh? I thought for sure he’d spit you out somewhere else. Seems whatever business he had with you won’t prevent your untimely death.

Isamu: I guess it’s asking too much to let us walk away from this?

Izanami smirked: As if. If Kronos can’t control my actions, you certainly couldn’t. Ares refused to leave the Titan’s side out of some misbegotten anger towards him, but I’ll be more than enough by myself.

???: Don’t be so sure of yourself.

Another sudden appearance. The woman who appeared among them wore black and grey clothing with wilted flowers on the hem and wreathed about her head. Her skin was coppery and her eyes aflame, along with a number of glowing red stones on her person. She smiled with an air of excitement.

This one felt different than Izanami. Her power was tremendous, but it felt somehow… muted, as though it were being suppressed beneath a mountain and raging to get out.

Izanami frowned: And just who the hell are you?

???: The name is Pele. You’ll do well to remember it.

Izanami: Never heard of you.

Izanami moved like lightning. When she was right on top of her opponent, the fingers of her right hand extended and blasts of darkness struck hard into Pele’s body in five different locations. Strangely, blood didn’t eddy from the wounds. Instead, trickles of ash fell around them. Despite what should have been a debilitating blow, Pele merely retained her smile and shoved her hand into the other woman’s face. Izanami was thrown backward, but managed to stop herself with ease. To her surprise, the shoulder was already reknit, as though nothing had happened.

Izanami: …What the hell are you?

Pele grinned: Didn’t I already tell you? My name is Pele, and I’m… your worst nightmare.

So I'm thinking Bukimi dies from that wound Cronos gave her, what with Fazoodle leaving and such. I suppose poor Makoto will be next >.<
