Bones Article: Helping with Bones medals

We have a lot of awesome and addicted Bones fans in this spot, but I have noticed that many of them don't have a medal.

Of course, having medals isn't a competition or the most important thing in the world, I just would want to help the ones who want to have one here.

I try to rate things as much I can. But it's kind of difficult with school and everything.. But on holidays I usually come here and rate. I have noticed that other fans rate here too and I find it really awesome !

I tried to write a short article, but you know me ! So if you want to contribute to the Bones spot, please read this !

I'm not gonna rate things for you if you ASK it.

WHAT IS A MEDAL?

Medal is a reward that you get when you have added things to a spot. You can see your medals on your profile page. There are three kind of them:

Dedicated medal - Respect from fellow fans! This fan has made some good contributions to fandom.

Die-hard medal - Greater respect from fellow fans! This fan has made significant contributions to fandom.

Fanatic medal - Mega respect from fellow fans!!! This fan has gone above and beyond the call of normal fans. We have about 7(?) fanatics in the Bones spot !!

HOW DO I GET A MEDAL?
Medal is a reward you get for:

Videos

Images

Articles

Picks

Pop Quiz Questions

By starting an active forum

For active participation

Oh, and for you to get a medal, the content you add has to be highly rated. You COULD get a medal with low or no ratings, but it is definitely much harder.

The main points about adding videos/links to the Bones spot are:

The video/link has to do something with Bones

Don't add the same videos/links someone else did !

Use keywords !

And remember to credit!

HOW DO I ADD IMAGES?

Any images that don't fit in with the other categories should be added as PHOTOS

They can be promotial pictures, Bones actors' pictures, almost anything Bones-related

USE KEYWORDS AND CREDIT PICTURES !!!

Not using keywords = People can't find the images/videos/links that you have contributed !

Not crediting = STEALING ! . Really. Taking credits / not adding credits to other people's work is stealing. So when you add pictures, please, PLEASE credit them !

Use the WALLPAPER setting for large, high-resolution images meant to be used to decorate your desktop.

CREDIT!!!

[Any wallpaper uploads smaller than 800x600 will be re-categorized as photos]

Select ICON if it's a small image (100x100 pixels, for example)

CREDIT!!!

[Any images 200x200 and smaller will be automatically re-categorized as icons. ]

Fan-created mashups, drawings, sketches, posters and the like go in the FAN ART category.

CREDIT!!!. Many people spend a lot of time on their fanart. So I truly hope that you will credit people for their amazing job !

[How would you feel if you'd spend like a week doing some fanart and see it on another page without credits? Not good I guess]

HOW DO I WRITE ARTICLES?

Okay, I really suck at writing articles, so don't turn to me if you have problems with it :D

If you want to write a fanfiction, you can turn to link or to link - They have written the best fanfictions here !

Articles can be a lot of things: opinions, reviews, guides, fan fictions, lists or something else

Just remember to be reasonable with it - We don't want any "Bones sucks" articles here !

Picks - You can ask people's opinions about things

Please make reasonable picks and make your sentences understandable

Please don't repeat picks

Pop quiz questions - Ask factual questions about Bones

Again, please don't repeat them & write them in a way we all can understand them :)

The last thing I want to say:
- I know I talked a lot about crediting and keywords, but they're really important !
- I won't (and nandacavalieri won't) rate your photos if you don't use credits/keywords
- Don't make random picks - Me and nanda will report every single one of them. SO IF YOU MAKE SOME RANDOM PICK AND IT'S DELETED ON THE NEXT DAY - BLAME ME

misanthrope86 The LiveJournal thing gets tricky, because if a LiveJournal user comes over here and sees that there icons have been posted but not credited to them, you better prepare for battle to the death! And that has been happening more and more as Fanpop grows. On other sites, I have seen people banned because they haven't credited LiveJournal users. It seems pathetic, I know, but it happens. That was just a random aside. LOL! I talk too much.

heeeresjoyce I hate things with bad/no keywords and no image credit. I rate them low, but if there is a very long long stream of them, I usually just give up and skip over to the properly added images. :p

nandacavalieri I won't spam this saying you are more awesome... you already know that :)

Cladra I wouldn't want to livejournal users to come here and see it... some people really don't know what credit is ! I'd hate if the world war III would be going on here :ss

nandacavalieri true Clich... well, I don't care much about the icons I make, if people use them for something and don't rate, but I'm still learning so maybe I would care more if the people used it... I have an idea that maybe will help me to remember where I took them, I'll start it today :D

misanthrope86 I always save them in folders and label the folders with the LJ users name. That way I know exactly where I got the icons. Yeah, some people don't care if you credit them or not, but I always feel better when I credit people. That way it shows that I respect the work that they do.

nandacavalieri This is smart thing to do :) I save them in folders but each folder is a spot... I'm now saving them with the LJ name I respect them so much, really! They do an awesome job!

You know I am a totally obsessed fan, totally crazy but I can`t find the time to do all the things....you know, old woman with a daughter, garden, house....I only can dream of a medal....

ebathory Great article! I agree with heaps of stuff you said, I get annoyed with people who constantly don't rate other's contributions and then whine about not having a medal. It's karma people! If you rate other's work, you will get ratings back in return. And I can't stand it when people pass icons they have found on livejournal or other sites as their own! All in all I think the users on this spot are great though, this article is very helpful to new-comers (I wish I had have found something like this when I first joined fanpop!) On a different note, some users have messaged me (not so much from this spot, but from the SVU one) and said that they thought posting heaps of comments would give them medals also. It doesn't, but in doing so you will get more fans, props etc. Just thought I'd throw that out there :)

antitheft This article is helpful. But for the fanart category, I would suggest saying that people should either upload their own fanart or get permission from the original artist before uploading it. Crediting just isn't good enough. Did you know that all the images here show up in google? People search google, find the images here, and then post them elsewhere, like on deviantArt. So permission from the artists would be a good thing to keep the cycle of art theft down to a minimum.

The Hero in the Hold - SPOILER [Grave Digger Episode.]

The Grave Digger is back, and this time he's managed to make it look like someone took a few important materials out of his FBI case file. Hodgins is revealed to be obsessed with his case. This time the Grave Digger has Booth buried in a submarine, and it's up to Brennan and the squints to save him. Meanwhile in captivity, Booth's old spotter, the already-dead Teddy Parker, returns to help him (this is where the origin of Booth's son's name is shown). Agent Peyton Perrota and Jared Booth also appear.

Umm, A Bones Fanfiction?

Sorry about the title, I couldn't think of anything. Anyways, I finally got an idea for a new Bones fan fiction (hence the title). Now, it may turn out completely terrible, and I am very sorry if it does. But hey, you never know unless you through it out there I guess, so here it is:

Where is she? She's late! She's never late. Never! Well, except for that one time when she slept with...Oh crap! She didn't even tell me she was seeing someone! Now what? My plans are completely ruined. She'll think I truly am a loser. And...
