and den wen ur don read ' what my mother doesnt know' and 'what my girlfrend doesnt know' by sonya sones hope it helps!!
garth nix's books are good, try kim harrison, patrica briggs, fatih hunter, misty massey, richelle mead, phaedra weldon, maria snyder, jim butcher, rachel caine, lilith saintcrow, marie brennan, christopher moore(very funny books), alice borchardt, greg keyes, wen spencer(the tinker series), pc hodgell, carrie vaughn, ce murphy, laura ann gilman, kat richardson, michelle sagara, ilona andrews, or brent weeks, just to name a few authors that write good fantasy.
Try the Harry Potter series they are addictive. It has all three of the above; Romance: Ron and Hermione, It's unexpected so watch out! Unexpected Twists: Well I can't tell u that because you will exspecting then! Magical Powers: Well just read and you will find out!
If you like vampire books try The Vampire Diaries series or the Vampire Academy series(both really awesome). Or if you want something like teen drama try the Gossip Girl series. One of my favourites is Stephen King's It which is kinda scary and I also like Tolkien's Hobbit and Silmarillion they have lots of magical creatures in them and they're awesome. The Chronicles of Narnia is really great too although the movies are better than the books and there isn't much romance in them. And... have you read the Lord of the Rings? Best book I've ever read!!! I hope this helped!
PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS ARE MY FIRST RECOMMENDATION!!!! I LOVE THEM!!!! <3<3<3!!!!!! then The Vampire Diaries..also Harry Potter Series..IM A WIZARD!! The Prophecy of The Stones...The House of Night Series..
I have been reading The fourth realm trilogy. Author is John Twelve Hawks, first book is The Traveller, second the Dark River, and the new one is The Golden City. There are some special powers, but nothing like you may expect. It has a special look on the world in which we live, or will real soon :)
You really need to read Tamora Pierce, her books are awesome. In the first serie (The song of the lioness) has a maincharacter (and many other characters) with magical skills, lots and lots of romance (that goes for all of the series in the universe of Tortall) perhaps there is a low on the twists but you'll probably never guess who Alanna (the maincharacter) ends up with in the end.
And of course there is Susan Carroll! She is brilliant and her books about the Chevey-sisters are phenomenal! The eldest Chevey sister does magic and so does the French Queen. And all of the sisters have romances to die for! Totally worth the read.
Read one of the Dan Brown books!!!!!!!!!! they are full of mystery and when you think you ahve the answer there is an unexpected twist!!! there is romance in most of them too. The books are...
The Da Vinci Code
Angels and Demons
The Lost Symbol
I would recomend to read Angels and Demons, The Da Vinci Code and The Lost Symbol in this order because they use the same main character and , for example, in the lost symbol he refers back to the other two books. But Dan Brown is like my fave auther. The other books can be read in any order
u should read Fortune's Journey, gd romance novel, Pendragon the Merchent of Death(5 other books) secret of nimh(the first one)sisters of the sword, dolphin island, twilight series, and sherlock holmes.
The Kingkiller Chronicles Trilogy by Patrick Rothfuss. Only two books have been writen so far, but they are superb!
Book one is called the Name of the Wind and book two is A Wise Man's Fear. The story is about Kvothe, a retired hero, telling the true story of his life.
Magical powers? Plenty of them!
Unsuspect twistd? Even more! As for romance... well, let's just say I absolutely LOVED the chemistry between Kvothe and Denna.
Quick summary(may contain spoilers, though I'll try to steer clear of these); in book one, Kvothe is a trouper whose father is working on a song about an ancient evil group, almost legendary, known as the Chandrian. I won't go into details, as that would be a spoiler, but he ends up living on the streets. When he sells a book given to him by an old teacher of his, he finds himself with enough money to go of to the far-famed University. On the way he meets a young girl named Denna, who tells him where she's going and asks him to go looking for her again one day. He gets into University, and eventually meets up with Denna again. But Denna isn't one to stay put, and often disappears in the middle of the night. At one point, Kvothe hears rumors about the Chandrian in Trebon, and goes over to find out more. I won't go into details as to what happens next, as that would mean a few spoilers, but I WILL say he meets Denna again. The book ends when Kvothe summons the name of the wind in a fit of fury when Ambrose, a boy at University with whom he shares a mutual hatred for each other, breaks his lute. This results in a broken arm for Ambrose and almost expellion for Kvothe.
In the second book, Kvothe leaves the University for a while. On his adventures he travels to the kingdom of Vintas, where he yet again bumps into Denna. The two of them end up arguing, and then Kvothe leaves without even saying goodbye to her. I won't say what happens after that without giing away some MAJOR spoilers, but this book is if possible even better than the first.
Ps. I should probably warn you, the plot MAY go a little bit slow at times. The story is epic, however, so try to bear with it. By the way, I suck at summarizing stories. Some other good books are the Hunger Games (superb book, but no magic), The Magician's Guild (Due to your requierments, I would strongly recomend this book and its sequels to you. Magic powers, check, plot twists, check, and some excellent Cery/Sonea romance!), His Dark Materials, and The Little White Horse.
Hope you read at least some of these, and enjoy them.
THE 39 CLUES! there really great boks! it's about 2 kids (brother and sister Amy and Dan Cahill) who find out they are members of the most expansive and important family in the history of teh world, and go on a wprldwide scavenger hunt to find the 39 clues (which are ingrediants in the recipy to make you the most powerfull intelegent human being ever). it has adventure, humor (though not as much as Percy Jackson which is really awesome), all sorts of stuff. IT'S ALSO WRITTEN BY A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT AUTHERS. the first one (the maze of bones) is written by Rick Riordan. there are 10 books in the series, and when you get to Vespars Rising (the book that brings the first series the 39 clues into the next series Cahills Vs. Vespapars) is written by 4 differnt authers. the titals of the books in the series are (In order): The maze of Bones by Rick Riordan, book 2: One False Note by Gordan Korman, book 3: The Sword thief by Peter Lerangis, book 4:Beyond the Grave by Jude WAtson, book 5: The Black Circle by Patrick Carman,
book 6: In Too Deep by Jude Watson, book 7: The Vipers Nest by Peter Lerangis, book 8: The Emporer's Code by Gordan Korman, book 9: Storm Warning by Linda Sue Park, book 10: Into The Gauntlet by Margret Peterson Haddix, book 11: Vespars Rising by (in order of appearence) Rick Riorda, Peter Lerangis, Gordon Korman, and Jude Watson. These books are really great. HOpe you like them.
Well ummm there is romance in this book but it is VERY weird and there are unexpected twists in this book but I'm not quite sure if it is considered fantasy.Anywho, the book is called I Am NOT A Serial Killer. It's a series, mind you.I'm not sure if you would like blood, gore, mentioning of death, and dark humor.I'm not finished with the book even if it is very short because during the Summer I get very lazy, but,it is very good.
Not sure if it's what you're looking for, bout you should check out Neil Gaiman's books. The series Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Children Of The Red King are also recommended, since I see from your profile that you like Harry Potter.
These are some of my favorite books:
Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling
Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
Artemis Fowl by Eion Colfer
The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Johnathan Stroud
The Hunger Games (sort-of...) by Suzanne Collins
Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan
you should read theise books :the percy jackson sieres, the khane cronicals, the heroes of olympus sieres, the twilight sieres, narnia, the hunger games, the harry potter sieres, and the may bird sieres i reccomend all of theise
Ohh well I bet you've read Harry Potter and all that chiz like Hunger Games, but I really enjoyed the Vampirates series if you like fantasy, but if not, then just read all the books by Sarah Dessen they're realistic fiction but not a series: almost XD
I recommend the Maximum Ride series. I'm very picky in books but this book really caught my attention. It is about action and a little romance and people who can fly and other stuff! I really think you'll like this book
If you like magic, I'd recommend the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, and Inheritance.) It has a little romance but not any that really keep you on the edge of your seat. A really good romantic one would be the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. (Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise, Spirit Bound, and Last Sacrifice.) Even that series has a little bit of magic, and a Lot of Romance. My sister recommended it to me.
If you like fantasy and romance, The Shiver Trilogies are a great series! Maggie Stiefvater, author, wrote this story in both of the main characters', Sam and Grace, points of view alternating chapters. Synopsis: For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow eyed wolf - her wolf - is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has two lives: in winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human... until the cold makes hime shift back again. It's a wild ride of love, suspense, and hope. I read it and I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with Sam and I empathized with Grace. Highly recommended book from me.
Hi! I really enjoyed harry potter and The Mortal Instruments. But a less popular series I think is the best series I've ever read is GONE. It's by MIcheal Grant. He is an awesome author. Its about how all the adults disappear and how the kids survived. their all in a dome so they can't get help from outside. There is romance and a lot of action and magic. I'm on the fourth book
There is a brand new Vampire series out called A Vampire Queen's Diary by P A Harrell. The books are full of twists and turns, romance and many creatures. I have read book 1 and 2 and I am waiting on book 3 to be released on 11/20/14. If you love vampires and other mystical creatures then you need to read this series!
If you can be patient, I would highly recommend "The Stormlight Archive." A relatively new series by Brandon Sanderson. There are currently 2 books out ("The Way of Kings" and "Words of Radiance" but they are both over 1200 pages long and they are DENSE. I am NOT kidding when I say it has everything! Romance, horror, war, drama, crime, murder, fantasy, mystery, political backstabbing (like game of thrones), it tackles topics like slavery, racism, high class/political corruption and it even delves into the debates of religion and atheism, It has one of the biggest scaled plots out of anything I've ever read (bigger than Game of thrones, lord of the rings and Percy Jackson combined!) it introduces intricate yet simple powers, very diverse subplots and characters (most relatable power I can think of would be the force from Star Wars and some) It's very well written, It's not afraid to be bold, mostly pg-13 however, it can get pretty damn rated R quite often (violence). Has a very interesting world and world building, VERY smooth reading. You will love it!
If you want to read something magical , read The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. You will never find a magical book like this. In this books , alphabets are sold in markets. It is very funny and interesting + it gives a moral.
