One of the best parts of being a serial columnist is that I get invited to all kinds of cool events, most of which have an even cooler celebrity or two either officially or unofficially in attendance. Last April I'd slipped into The Eden Roc to catch Lil’ Wayne at the Black’s Annual Gala when a mutual friend introduced me to Burn Notice’s Jeffrey Donovan. The night was well underway by the time we’d met, and the temperature was suitably spring-like, so when Donovan and I adjourned outdoors for a quick Q&A the interview went swimmingly. In fact, you might say we hit it off like proverbial gangbusters. This time, outside of Temple House, where we were celebrating TAG Heuer’s 150th Anniversary, the particulars weren’t so accommodating. Not only did Donovan and I both fall sway to the peculiar swelter that comes upon those who wear suits on a hot August night, but, nice guy that I am, I let a few lady interviewers go ahead of me. So by the time it was my turn to chat up the star of cable’s most popular show, we both were basically melting.
