Cat Food?

Can cat food that's quite cheap, cause Cats to increase in weight?

Sometimes...if you feed them too much then they can get fat. We have to feed my cat science diet cuz we fed him too much and he got fat-ish. But if you dont feed them too much they usually dont. I volenteer at an animal shelter and we feed them science diet.

I agree with HuddyBrave. If you feed a cat too much of anything, just as in humans, it can cause them to gain weight. One of the bad things about cheap cat food, dry or wet, is that it's cheap for a reason. A lot of times they don't add as much nutrients as some of the more pricey brand. They tend to use more fats and "scraps" to bulk out their product. I personally use Purina One. It is a middle cost food that works quite well in my opinion.

On a slightly off topic comment I use to buy cheap food for my cats and found they would come down with urinary track infection more frequently then they should have. I was told by my vet that a lot of the cheaper brands did little to prevent, and in some cases, added to the chances of them getting them. Purina One is one of the best foods to prevent that.
