Not sure what it is about Rossi, but it'll take a pretty great story line for me to like him. No one can ever replace Gideon.

i think rossi and gideon are too different to be compared, in any case rossi brings an elegance to the show that gideon could not have done, likewise gideon has his own unique contributions

they replaced gideon bcoz he had issues about his character that the producers etc disliked. which was about showing gideons background and past, mandy p liked the fact that gideon was so mysterious and that made him exciting.

Rossi is a pretty good character, actually. I thought I was going to hate anyone who replaced Gideon (Did he actually replace Gideon...?), but he's done a fantastic job. I just love Gideon more.

I'm afraid Rossi is just a stereotype and doesn't show his intelligence, which should be a crucial point. Also, the show seems to have gone downhill with him, like the episode with the three kids with ax murder parents, 20 years old? Very disappointing- "oh its cool Rossi, we will turn our lives around now for sure from being a stripper, a user, and a punk-no problem". Just a unrealistic plot line

By a very tiny difference, I prefer Gideon. But, he was my least favorite character, I barely liked him, and I wasn't sorry to see him go. But, even that puts him ahead of Rossi, since I didn't outright hate Gideon and I hate Rossi.

I agree with nlp, Rossi is just -I don't really know what he is, I'm going to miss the way Gideon used to talk to Reid particularly about his problems, and the way he always slaughtered him in chess :)

I love Gideon! Rossi was amazing with Messing in the Starter Wife, but something is missing in Criminal minds. He needs more intensity and believability...

Gideon was definitely special, but he was too intense. Rossi is smart and I think he is also more of a people person - he helped Emily through "Demonology" and was kind to Jordan when she was losing it during "Normal" - he turned out to be a team player.

I miss Gideon, but he wasn't my fave. I started watching the show on Rossi's first episode, so I kind of feel like I was inducted with him, lol. Gideon was a great profile, but I feel Rossi is more connectable while Gideon is very.....just above everyone. But I like both.

I totally miss Gideon, his character was truly awesome :).

I haven't watched the ones with Rossi. They stopped showing Criminal Minds where I live cause hardly anyone watches it. D= I'm watching the DVDs but I'm not up to S5 yet.

He was like, a man that you just HAVE to trust the second you meet him. Plus whenever he's got a hunch it's right and he presents it in such a way that you totally back him up!

Plus he reminds me of a teacher I used to have and who I like.

Rossi is mean sometimes.

gideon is mean and depressive but beside this i don´t have anything against him.but i do like rossi.though i didn´t like him first but as the time went i got used to him and now i like him.especially in 07x02 :)

I must say at first I was mad cause Jason Gideon left and I did not like David Rossi at first but I grew to love him in the show but Morgan is my favorite then the rest of the crew is my second favorite.

I think Rossi adds a flavor to the team of accessability, vulnerability, and genius in a not so matter of fact way that often times Gideon presented himself.

No Mandy left because he felt television was showing too much violence for mainstream network. So he left to work on his comedy until homeland came calling.

But Rossi and Morgan are terrible actors. You can tell there acting in every scene. Mandy was 100% better. Easily and he would of stayed had he not opted out. Rossi got handed the job he didn't take it

Gideon. Hands down. Mandy Patinkin left the show because he hated seeing all the rape victims. He has said this in a few interviews. Morgan outright said to Rossi that Gideon was the best and Rossi never said anything about the issue. Plus, in the first episode, Gideon was ready to give a profile in a few hours. It takes Rossi at least a day on his best episode. I would like to see Gideon and Rossi come together in a 2 episode special to catch a particularly smart un-sub.

I just think Rossi adds spunk to the show. He is defiantly one of my favorite characters. Gideon never interested me :/ Sorry Gideon fans!

I have to go with Rossi. I've always thought that his overall being (appearance, demeanor, etc.) has always had a better fit for the role of an FBI agent. He is actually my favorite character on the entire show.

Jason gideon

I have to say both. Gideon was the "parent" figure and Rossi is the "friend". Either way they each have their respective spot in the team. Gideon was and always will be the glue that brought me to watch the show but there is no way to compare them.

I picked Rossi. Gideon had a way of making every case about HIM and was arrogant in some ways. Rossi has a personality that compliments everyone else on the team. He's deep and sensitive and a great agent, but he's more easygoing and balanced. Gideon was very intriguing though, and I wish they didn't have him die off-screen.

I definitely prefer Rossi. Didn't really get into the show until he joined so when I watch reruns with Gideon it's just weird.

I like Jason, but David has really grown on me.
