maryksand Because Spike and Buffy had a build up. Soulles Spike was a monster like all the other soulles vampires, but he was willing to change for the one he loved and he went through trials of torture to get his soul back and to become a good person. He ended up dying a hero to save the world and his loving one. He didn't leave her when she asked him to stay. He didn't take decisions for her. And Buffy didn't act like his shallow obsessed fangirl. They where both equals, warriors and champions.
