There is (sadly) no canon yaoi in Death Note or couples really... unless you count the one-sided Misa x Light or Naomi and Penbar...

His romantic interests were never shown in the anime, so we may never know if he liked boys or girls or both or neither. To say he was or wasn't can't be backed up by the canon in any way, so neither side can make a real argument.

Umm... I dont think he was. I mean, he was close to Light, but that was because Light was his only friend. Wouldnt you be close to someone if they were your only friend? You would want to do anything for them so you would stay friends.

I believe that Lawliet is actually asexual, because he has never actually formed or expressed anything feelings that may hint at wanting sex. Only once when watching Misa Amane's comercial. Even still someone can be asexual and find someone "aesthetically pleasing". Lawliet has really never even expressed romantic feelings, although he does notion that Light might've been his only friend. Which compared to actual romantic feelings isn't anything. So just to remind you I think L is asexual. Also L loves cake, there's a joke in the asexual community that people would prefer cake over sex.

I think it is possible. Sadly. L's sexuality is never talked about in the series or manga, but I think he is demisexual. In the show, he does find Misa Misa attractive and it is not until she kisses him in the check that he says, "I can actually fall for you." It wasn't until there was an emotional connection between them that he said that. With Light, he may have been liked him but we will never know. However, the bisexual theory is interesting and I would not disagree completely.
