Ancient Egyptian history is very complex, as the region was conquered and colonized by several different civilizations and nations. I assume you are asking about the race of Pharaonic Egyptians, before the Greek and Roman invasions. Judging by hieroglyphics and geographic location, as well as presence of Nubians (from what is now Sudan) and Assyrians (from Mesopotamia), the Ancient Egyptians were probably dark or tanned skinned, enough to be African or Middle Eastern. Keep in mind that Hellenistic hieroglyphs show subjects with the famous "Greek" noses, but these were probably made when Egypt was part of the Ptolemaic kingdom (Cleopatra's time).
