Debate : assisting Japan

This has been discussed quite a bit in other fora, so I thought I'd open it up to debate arguments both pro and con.

Thesis: It is wrong for people in the United States to provide aid to the Japanese.

Definitions:
people in the United States: either specific individuals (eg, you, if you're a citizen of the US), citizens in general, or government
wrong: morally, ethically undesirable or unthinkable
aid: financial or material assistance for recovery in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami
Japanese: individuals and/or government residing in Japan

Sounds like you might want to argue the CON position? Weirdly, no one has posted any PRO arguments here, but they're all over the web elsewhere.

I don't think anyone should be forced to do it, but it would be nice to help out.

I don't understand why it would be considered wrong.
