"Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference." -Winston Churchill
It doesn't take much to create a shift in your attitude. It just takes a simple desire and some focus. Make that simple effort and magic will happen!
No, I'm not going to get mystical on you or talk about the power of positive thinking. When I talk about attitude, I mean a desire to be happy.
Looking around, you'll see a lot of people who don't seem to want to be happy. Some have a lot going for them and still find things to complain about. Others are a bit down on fortune and spend so much time wallowing in self pity that they miss the good things that happen every now and then.
Then there are the people who seem to crave sympathy so much that they almost seem to want bad things to happen just so people will feel bad for them. And, of course, you have those who play the martyr routine for the same reason.
I bring all this up just to make you aware that, perhaps, our biggest struggle as a society is developing a true desire to be happy. It seems many people would rather "be right" or attract some kind of attention than be happy. I know this seems ridiculous but I'm sure you know a few people who fit this mold.
But this message isn't going out to those people. It's going out to you. I'm challenging you to spend some time focusing on your attitude.
Do you really want to be happy? Do your actions align with this desire?
If you really want to be happy then open your eyes. You will find many reasons to be happy with yourself and your life just as things are right now. Then close your eyes and you'll find reasons to be excited for the future for its potential to be even better.
Today, with each action you take and with each word you speak, focus on whether the attitude behind them speaks to your desire to be happy.
This is a little thing that can make a big difference in your day.
