Preface:
Just when you think there is nothing to live for you realize it was right in front of you along and you would do anything fight for it or even die to protect knowing it would be your biggest sacrifice.
Chapter 1: Nothing Left
Things haven't been the same since Papa died this last winter I'm glad he's no longer suffering and with mother again he missed her so much he had been sick before but it was nothing like this I thought he could pull out of it fight to live and stay with me but he was needed in heaven more I can still here him say "I love you my sweet child and when your mother comes for me know that I will watch over and protect you always."
I know he is here I can feel him but it still hurts I feel like there is nothing left I just want to be reunited with my family but I knew Papa wouldn't want that he'd want me to live my life not here though its just to painful to stay in my little town and in this house everywhere I look or turn I see Papa.
He left me with the house, its belongings, and very little money slowly I started to sell things my beloved books were the hardest for me to part with except for one my favorite about far off places, daring, sword fights, magic spells, and a prince in disguise the rest of my collection in the local library where I know they will be well cared for. I also decided to keep a few of my mothers things some of her dresses, hair brush, and hand mirror and for Papa I decided to keep his favorite pocket watch that mother had given him as an anniversary gift.
The last thing I sold was my beloved home it was so hard to keep up with the taxes with the money I had and it was to big for just one person to manage not only with the inside but the outside as well managing the fields and taking care of the animals but it was what the right thing to do. I had everything I needed and packed in a small bag I cleaned the house wiping down everything all the shelves, sweeping the floors, washed the sheets, and made the beds one last time tomorrow the new family would be moving in I had the pleasure of meeting them very sweet the couple had two small children a son and a daughter I knew in my heart they would love growing up here and have such fond like memories just like I have I would have to be gone by late morning as I crawled into bed I realized that this would be my last be my last night here but this would always be home no matter where I go.
The next morning I woke up early, changed into my blue dress, tied my hair back, and ate all the food we had left afterwards I took a slow walk around the house one last time etching it into my memory thinking back on my life to this moment feeling such peace. I then headed outside to the stable to go and get Phillipe my oldest and dearest friend. I brushed and groomed him before I put on the saddle "Well Phillipe its time to go boy are you ready?" he nodded " Good" I gave him a pat on the neck with my bag in one hand I climbed up onto the saddle I grabbed my cape and fastened it around my neck just in case it got stormy and placed my bag between me and the saddle horn looping my hand through the handle grabbing the reins.
"Let's go Phillipe" I said as I softly kicked him in his side so he knew to go as we came around to the front I took one last look at the house I decided to head to Paris about a days ride I knew that it would be easier to find a job in the city than if I stayed it in the country the change of scenery and lifestyle would be a good change for me I had it all planned out I hoped to find a small house with a stable that I can rent and maybe find a job at the local library but anything will do I didn't know where this chapter in my life would lead me but I'm curious to find out.
