Seriously guys, I’m pretty new to the crossover thing but even I know that this guy has been shipped with everyone. EVERYONE!! So why ship him with so many people besides matchmaking being a fun pastime? Well as the matchmaking comment before suggests Jim Hawkins is one of the few to end his movie single. No shame in that. But being single gives the shipping community a bit more leeway to the possibilities on the match that would have been made with Jim because not only did Jim not have a match but its kinda fun to wonder what is his type. The shipping community here on fanpop seems to avoid shipping merely for photogenic appeal or flimsy reasons like “Oh they have that one thing in common”…. Which kinda makes me bit my lip in shame because I actually don’t mind those ships and might even ship 1 or 2 based on those sole reasons… but the point is that when shipping people we seem to like it more if the personalities mesh a bit more or in one comment I saw that the personalities can have a yin/yang thing with the crossover couple completing each other so they can’t be too alike or it just ends in friendship.
One of the other reasons I think Jim is shipped a lot is because he is actually a tad bit likable. OPINION!! But mine so I’ll defend. So here are some of the things that I take into consideration when shipping Jim.

He is a bad boy- seriously the first teenager scene we get from him is a solar ride through restricted area ending in an arrest and a personal escort home. When he gets home he blames it on the police. Throughout the movie he rolls his eyes at authority and just has this “whatever” attitude whenever he gets an order before actually following out
He is adventurous- his bad boy status already established that he is into extreme sports and when he gets a treasure map you bet he wants to go and get it. Another thing about this side of him is that he’s kind of awestruck by new things. At the station he’s just grinning and looking around just taking everything in. I mean even when he is on the ship he’s just kinda looking at all the things the galaxy has to offer. When Silver takes him on the little ship he goes straight for the comet, hehe who cares if you die? The comet was shiny. And when on the comet trail he just starts rocking and puts a “we should go faster!” face and at the end he just like. That was fun.
He is intelligent- he is fast learner and actually very good with mechanics, his mom was talking about how he was building his own solar surf thingy when he was just a kid, he learns the rope tricks and the how to ride the dinghy from Silver after one quick “here’s howdo”
He is a good listener- this is one of the qualities that really stuck out to me in the movie because even when he was rolling his eyes he is actually a good listener. When his mom was chewing him out (for good reason) he actually listens despite the lack of eye contact for a while before trying to get his way out of it and shuts up when he gets the evil eye. When the captain talks to him he actually pays attention too and doesn’t object until near the end, same with almost everyone, he actually lets them talk. I actually like how he rarely makes eye contact. I hate it when people ask me to do it because as a multi-tasker/ADD, I like to look at something else besides what in front of me to the person speaking so I think this makes him relatable for me (sorry people who think this is rude but I just can’t sit down and look at someone straight in the eyeballs for 30 min. I would go crazy…also sorry if you still think it’s rude I bow my head in shame) but again he’s still listening despite his habit of looking at something or doing something else at the same time. And his mini arc in the story was reformation from his bad boy ways. He actually takes what these adults tell him and lets it sink in, especially Silver’s speech. And even if he’s grumbling all the way he does take orders from immediate authority (those robo-cops don’t count). This reminds me…
He is a hard worker- beginning of the movie, clearing the tables, the whole” I’m still here montage” working on the ship, cleaning those dishes, getting those barnacles (by the way how does that work in space?), wiping the poop deck. One of the things that keep him from just a regular bad boy is when people give him jobs he works hard to get it done and done right… unlike my lazy self who looks at the counter I wiped down, squint and say “ yeah that looks okay, let’s call it a day”

Speaking of my lazy self…. Eh I’m done for the day. Here are a few reason I like Jim and I hope you enjoyed reading and this is why I do hope that Jim gets a happy ending. He has some really nice qualities about him and would make someone very happy. With this crossover couple community he certainly has a lot of options.
P.S
Ooh! Ooh! He’s also decorated!! With a shiny medal and has a uniform for…????.... Whatever he looks handsome.

If you’re still reading comment on your favorite Jim ship and why or if you don’t like shipping him explain why too! It’s always fun to hear from you guys
