We all voted and the results are in! I really liked the idea princesslullaby had by putting in peoples comments, so I decided to do it too :)

13. Aurora thinks she’ll never see Phillip again.
Not long after her romp in woods with a cute boy, Briar Rose discovers that she is Princess Aurora, and betrothed to marry Prince Phillip. She is utterly devastated by the news that she will never again see the boy she danced with in the forest. Voters agreed this was sad, but she should get over it…there are worse things in life.

12. Jasmine discovering the boy from the market has been put to death.
Yearning to discover life outside the Palace walls, Princess Jasmine runs away in disguise, meanwhile befriending a boy in the market. He is soon arrested. The Princess takes off her hood and reveals who she is, in hopes to release the boy. She later finds out that he has been put to death. She is utterly devastated, overwhelmed with guilt and heartbroken. Voters felt for her, but she barely knew him at that point.

11. Mulan left behind.
Disguised as a man to protect her Father, Mulan joins the army. We all rooted for her, wanting her to succeed. At first she struggles trying to fit in and appear to be “manly”. After much hard work and determination we find that she is at last on the right track. While saving her Captain’s (and love interest) life, Mulan is left wounded. After receiving medical treatment, her troop discovers that she is in fact a woman. The penalty would have been death, but Shang spared her since she saved his life. The army packs up and moves out headed toward the Imperial City, leaving poor Mulan behind and all alone.

10. Tiana denied of her dream.
When I was in the process of writing this article, I still hadn’t seen The Princess and the Frog…so I asked princesslullaby if she could lend some of her expertise and write this part for me. By now I have seen the movie, but totally agree with what she had to say…
“This scene is so heartbreaking because Tiana has worked so hard to finally gain her restaurant, and loses to something she can't change- her background and gender. The Fenner brothers tell her it would be better if someone of her "background" didn't take the restaurant, implying that either her class or race will always be a boundary to her. Anyone who deals with these struggles can really feel for Tiana's heartbreak." Thanks princesslullaby for your help…you my girl!

9. Aurora pricks her finger
The three good fairies kept Aurora safe for many years, and then in one night everything goes wrong. They feel horrible that Aurora is so sad about never seeing the boy she met in the forest again because she is already betrothed. Maleficent puts Aurora in a trance and makes her touch the spinning wheel. Flora, Fauna and Merryweather frantically try to find Aurora and save her, but they are too late. Aurora is lying on the ground, dead; well, until Prince Phillip kisses her that is!

8. Cinderella's Mother's dress being torn apart.
We all know the story by heart, and dearly love this Princess. Forced to be a servant in her own house, Cinderella remains angelic and pleasant. Abused and mistreated by her evil Stepmother and Stepsisters, Cinderella still clutches tightly to her dreams. When the news of the Grand Ball surfaces at their Chateau, Cinderella frantically tries to finish her chores in time to renovate her Mother’s pink dress for the Ball. Her nasty Stepmother keeps piling on the chores to keep her from getting ready. Little does she know that Cinderella’s animal friends are there to back her up and finish the dress for her. They surprise her with the finished product and she is finally able to go to the Ball! Rushing downstairs, blissfully excited, Cinderella joins her family. In a jealous rage, her stepsisters rip up her precious dress to shreds. Feeling pretty good about themselves, they prance off to the ball. Little do they know that someone is watching over Cinderella and is about to make all of dreams come true.

7. Cinderella locked in her bedroom
After a glorious romantic night at the Ball, Cinderella leaves nothing behind but a glass slipper. She didn’t know that the hunk she spent the whole evening with was indeed the Prince. The next morning he and the Grand Duke search the kingdom for the mystery girl. When Cinderella overhears her Stepmother saying that the Prince is searching for her, she drops a tray. Afterwards, she is in a dreamlike trance and starts to hum. Lady Tremaine puts the pieces together and discovers that Cinderella is who the Prince is desperately looking for. In order to destroy Cinderella’s happiness forever, she locks her in her bedroom, and puts away the key. Cinderella cries out and begs her Stepmother to let her out. The old bitch just grins and walks away. Little does she know that Cinderella has reinforcements that are going to break her out of her room.

6. Mulan comes to the destroyed village
Mulan spent a whole lot of time training and preparing for battle. She struggles to fit in and appear “manly”. Shang gets a note from the General, his Father, (which is actually a note Mushu & Crikee wrote) telling him to gather up his troops and move out. So, Mulan and the boys start out on their journey. Mulan finally has made some friends and is beginning to fit in. All is well until they approach a village that has been brutally attacked. Shang doesn’t understand, because his Father should’ve been there to prevent such a disaster; then he finds his Father’s helmet. He had been there, and had been defeated. There was nothing left in the village; no houses, no people. Mulan finds a doll that belonged to a little girl. It is a very chilling moment.

5. Belle doesn’t get to tell her Father goodbye.
After Belle discovers that her Father is missing, she sets off to find him. She finds the castle in the middle of the forest and finds his hat outside. She goes inside to search for him, and finds him in the dungeon freezing to death and coughing. She tells him that she is going to get him out of there, and about that time the Beast appears, startling her. She begs him to free her Father, but the Beast refuses. Then she offers for the Beast to take her in her Father’s place. Before she can hug or tell her Father goodbye, the Beast has him taken away. Belle is terribly distraught.

4. Pocahontas chooses not to go with John Smith.
Throughout the entire film, Pocahontas and John Smith struggle to be together. Both sides of their people are at war with each other, while they are stuck in the middle demanding peace. When they succeed by not going to war, we all thought that they would finally be able to be together. But to our surprise, John Smith throws himself in front of a bullet that was meant for Pocahontas’s Father, saving his life. He is deeply wounded and must return home to England in order to survive. He asks Pocahontas if she will come with him. Instead of packing up and moving along with the love of her life, she makes the very difficult decision of staying with her people, because she felt she was needed there. So, she lets him go in one of the most bittersweet endings.

3. Snow White Dies
After the Evil Queen falls off a cliff, the Dwarf’s rush home to check on Snow White. When they get back they discover she is dead. They are heartbroken. They all mourn over her, Dopey whimpers and even Grumpy sheds a tear. They love her so very much, that they can’t find it in their hearts to bury her. So they make her a coffin out of gold & glass and place her in the forest. They keep eternal vigil at her side. You can tell how much they love and care for her.

2. Eric decides to marry Vanessa
Ariel had gone through SO much to be with Eric. She gave up her voice and her freedom just to have a shot at him. And she only had three days to make him fall in love with her. He starts to fall for her, even though he is still obsessed with finding the girl with the “voice”. Ursula sees that Ariel just might pull it off, and she transforms herself into a woman named Vanessa. She uses Ariel’s voice to trick Eric and put him in a trance. Well, it works. He is so brainwashed that he decides to marry Vanessa. As Ariel watches them sail away into the sunset she starts to sob. You can tell how hurt and devastated she is just by looking at her.

1. The Beast Dies
Love slowly blooms for Belle and the Beast. Just at its peak, the Beast releases Belle so she can go save her Father, proving the theory that when you really love someone, that sometimes means letting them go. Belle goes home and is confronted by an angry mob who wants to throw her Father in an insane asylum because he told them about the Beast. In order to prove he isn’t an idiot, Belle gets the magic mirror and shows them the Beast. They lock Belle and her Father in the basement (but are later let free by Chip) and head to the castle to destroy this “monster”. The Beast doesn’t fight back with Gaston until he realizes the Belle has returned. Then it’s on. He fights back with all of his might. He holds Gaston by the neck, letting him hang over the ledge. But, he puts him down and simply says “get out”. He then rushes to be at Belles side, but out of no where Gaston stabs him, and then falls to his death. Belle pulls the Beast up onto the balcony as he struggles to breathe. He lovingly looks at her and says “at least I got to see you one last time”, and then he’s gone. Belle shakes her head in disbelief and starts to cry. She cries out “don’t leave me…I love you”. And according to the voters (and myself!), that is the most heartbreaking Princess moment.
.... Or Are They? I keep hearing this massive distortion that Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora and sometimes others are "unrealistically perfect". Well first of all, they're not actually "perfect" but yes they strive for it and come pretty close. The number one reason? The earlier DPs were made in a time where families were still valued as well as good morals and they were on their best behavior in front of children, hoping that the kids would learn to embrace positive traits and reject negative traits so they would be more positive people. They cared more about well-roundedness, being modest...

I wanted to write an article on things and concepts from DP movies that struck me with awe, left me speechless, inspired me and made me believe that magic is for real. The things that truly symbolized all the charm of magical world.

10. Cinderella's transformation and waltz with Prince:
This is what the dreams should be made of, this is what heavens feel like. Everything poor and dirty will change to new and shining, on flick of a wand. That silvery blue gown and crystal white carriage and moonlit path to a castle makes me sigh. And the waltz was so pure magic, with unbelievably gorgeous moonlit...

Okay so I know I got off on the wrong foot here with some users so I wanted to give a peace offering (to those who want it) by telling about myself so others will get the chance to understand me and see where I am coming from. This is my attempt to:
1) Formally apologize: To those who I lost my temper with, I sincerely apologize for the way I conducted myself. I truly did not come here to start arguments but to get the opinions of others. I humbly ask that you forgive my passionate responses and know that I promise to work on not losing my temper. No matter how threatened or attacked that I...

All right, this doesn't count as a real article by me. This counts as a random blurb...addressing the DP stereotype that all of the prior Disney Princesses save the Revival/ Modern ones... all married their guys the same day they met them.

Broken down, as I have watched all thirteen movies... this is what I FOUND out is the ACTUAL CASE.

Snow White meets Ferdinand within the first five minutes of the film, and he woos her so to speak. But many, many, many DAYS PASS before he comes upon her in the coffin in the woods, figuratively "dead" from a poison apple bite. At the end of the movie, Snow...

Hello All! Due to my life interfering with my time these days, I took a hiatus from article writing. I also took a hiatus, because KataraLover and Cruella stepped into the void, and took on the “these are horrible characters argument” in a set of ongoing video discussions that can be found on the video links page of The Disney Princess Club. (My hat goes off to them, as they were dispelling the myths and stigmas surrounding certain unbeloved characters). Great work, guys!!!
Since this is the last article on the Vices of the Disney Princesses, I want to at least say...
