So I decided to write a heartfelt review of this movie that honestly I hold very dear to me.

The Movie:

Beauty and the Beast I must say is one of the darker Disney movies. The theme is a bit more mature then stuff like "The Little Mermaid" but in a sense that's one of this movies most appealing qualities, you can watch it over and over and you can see something new each time and really watch at how much effort truly went into this film with every movement.

"Once Upon A Time..." I admit when I heard those words I nearly rolled my eyes, really isn't that the most original beginning ever(*Sarcasm*) But after a few seconds I stopped my train of thought and looked with interest towards the screen as it showed different sets of stained glass windows, this in it self was a very unique idea that instantly set this movie apart from others, within the first 2 minutes of the film we already knew that the story was going to involve a Beast/Prince looking for love before the last petal falls on the rose that was presented to him by an enchantress...but after seeing his personality you really begin to wonder "Who could ever learn to love a beast?"

"Little Town It's A Quiet Village" The screen brightens up to a young girl who walks out of her house singing about the town she lives in, could this be her? In one song that describes the town and herself you already know her personality and her views. She's kind, well read, and in a sense a bit odd. Like the Beast she too is an outcast but because of who she is, not because of her looks. This shows that even the people with good looks or whatever can be tormented by society.

Belle's very relatable, I think thats why so many people enjoyed this movie. She isn't a beautiful princess waiting for a Prince, no she's an outcast looking for adventure with love as far from her mind as she can be. Belle takes care of her father though and she realizes that she must stay with him even if that means the ultimate boredom for her.

We soon learn that the town's most "famous" man has his eye on Belle, but for every selfish reason in the book. "For in town theres only she who is beautiful as me!"...He's making the Beast look better and better. Gaston does turn out to be the villian in the end but it's different from most disney villian's up to this point. His evil demeanor comes more from his jealousy and hotheadness than anything.

Maurice(Belle's Father) is an inventor, or he kinda is. Nothing he makes ever works...until he succeeds! Then he's off to a fair!...Happy Right?
Wrong...on his way he walks down a dark path which leads him right to where the wolves are. Making a narrow escape but losing his horse in the process, Maurice runs to wherever he can find shelter and what do you know?...It's the Beast Castle! Woohoo!...Right?

Opening the doors he peaks in and you hear whispering...but what you don't expect(...Well if you didn't look at the cover of the movie) is that it's the candlestick and clock talking in the background, Lumiere and Cogsworth about as opposite as two men (Objects?) can be. Debating on whether to make their presence known we can already tell by the few lines of dialogue they have already delivered that Cogsworth is the more nervous, loyal type while Lumieres more...well opposite!

They take him into the den after her ofcourse is shocked to see that they can talk and you meat a lovely bunch of characters (Mrs.Potts, Chip, Etc)
Everythings very light until...The Beast walks in.

He looms over the room scanning every inch with his piercing blue eyes filled with bitterness until he sees the old man who by now is shaking in his seat, The Beast picks up the man and throws him in the dungeon.

Meanwhile in the village Gaston has tried proposing to Belle which she turned him down flat, while daydreaming in a field about the great unknown the family's horse runs up and she instantly knows that something has happened to her father. Without thinking she mounts the horse and takes off.

Arriving at the castle she walks in calling out to her father or to anyone who will listen, this ofcourse causes quite a stir when the servants see that there is a girl in the castle...their that much closer to the awful spell being broken. Well she ends up finding her father..and in return she offers her freedom for his.

Upon seeing the Beast she's horrified and they instantly have a certain "Hatred" towards each other.

The Beast presents her with a room...and forbids her from ever going near the west wing.

In the village Gaston comes up with an evil plot after Maurice comes in screaming about a Beast, he plans to throw Maurice in the asylum unless Belle excepts his proposal.

Back at the castle theres a dance number and a bit of a fight between Belle and the Beast, Cogsworth and Lumiere take her on a tour of the castle and she wonders off and finds herself in front of the west wing. By this time you could already tell Belle was overcame with curiousity and ofcourse she walked into the west wing.

Fasinated by the room she looks around, and becomes captivated by a glowing rose under a glass dome. Reaching out and pulling the dome off she tries to touch the rose..and is found by the Beast. The Beast yells at her to "Get out" and she did..promise or no promise to stay there forever she runs off into the forest on horseback but is quickly chased by a pack of ravenous wolves.

Right when all hope looks lost for Belle, she is rescued...by none other then the Beast! He pulls the wolves back and keeps them from hurting her but gets hurt in the process. This is a true turning point in the movie...the Beast has a heart? He rescued Belle right? Belle had to make a decision...escape?...or help the creature who saved her life? She choose the second.

Back at the castle she offers to clean his wounds, and even though they are having an intense conversation over who's fault it was..everything changes the moment Belle says the words "Thank you..for saving my life" The Beast eyes go wide and he looks at her with an almost gentle expression and replies with "Your welcome"

Maurice has no set out to rescue his daughter while Gaston has contacted the head of the Asylum, Monsieur D'arque. He puts his plan in action but is dissapointed when he sees that Maurice is not home...Lefou(Gaston's right hand man) is told to stand watch.

When we get back to the castle...things have changed you can tell. The Beast is watching Belle play with the little foolstool from the balcony when suddenly he admits to "I have never felt this way about anyone before" Well who knew? The Beast has already fallen for the girl...now all he had to do was get her to fall for him. He claims he wants to do something for her and Cogsworth and Lumiere help him out by suggesting he give her the Library, due to her previous interest of it and love for books.

Beast is excited to give this gift to Belle, yet Belle is skeptical...what changed this creature in front of me all of a sudden? He leads her into the library and the look of sheer joy on his face reminds you of a little boy on his birthday...Belle ofcourse is greatful for the gift and we see a little spark between them.

From here there's a song showing them slowly falling for the other and actually having fun and learning from each other...it was nice to have one of the Disney couples really get to know eachother before just jumping into love.

Then theres the Ballroom scene...I will have a description of that below!

Beast ask Belle the question he's been wanting the answer to "Belle..are you happy here...with me?" Such a simple question...you can tell he's getting ready to ask her the ultimate one of "Do you love me?" when Belle answers that she does miss her father, wanting to make her happy Beast realizes that the mirror can show her what she wants to see.

"This mirror can show you anything you wish to see..." And with that Belle takes the mirror from his grasp and is shocked to see her father out in the bitter cold, and sick. The Beast then realizes...that to keep Belle happy he would have to set her free. After telling her that she may leave there's a gentle caress of the hair and she smiles sweetly up at him...come on where's the "I Love You"s! But thats when Cogsworth walks in and ask the Beast why he let her go...and simply and heartbrokingly he replies with "Because...I love her."

Taking the mirror with her she rescues her father and takes him back to there cottage, with none other then Chip, the little teacup in her bag. Belle tells her father of the Beast changes when suddenly a knock on the door interupts her. Lefou had gone to the village and told Gaston of their return.

The village has formed a mob and wish to take Maurice to the asylum "For raving like a lunatic about a beast" Gaston offers her father's freedom...if she agrees to marry him. Belle refuses...but is soon faced with the fact that to keep her father out of the Asylum she must show the town the mirror...and show them the Beast.

After doing so...a frenzy begins. The people begin to freak out while Belle tries to calm them by explaining that he's gentle and kind and a friend...Gaston accuses her of having feelings for the "monster" which Belle doesn't even deny just replies with "He's not a monster Gaston...you are!" That's more then he can handle so he decides to take this mob and go kill this Beast that seems to have taken Belle's affection.

Belle and Maurice are locked in a cellar while the Mob marches on to the castle, the servants soon see them coming and form a plan to keep them out with no help from their master who simply tells them to let them come.

Chip breaks Maurice and Belle out of the cellar with the invention introduced earlier in the movie, they are soon on their way to warn the Beast.

Fighting has broken out at the castle between the villagers and the servants...the servants are winning but Gaston has slipped of to the west wing..where the beast is sitting heartbroken. Upon being found, the look the Beast gives Gaston of total defeat is definatly heartwrenching. Especially when the arrow pierces his skin..and still he doesn't try to fight back.

At the edge of the roof with Gaston yelling at him the Beast lies, defeated and ready to die, when Belle rides up on her horse screaming at Gaston to stop, finding a new found strength he begins to fight back and suddenly it's almost like a game of cat and mouse. Gaston conceitedly tries to bring down the Beast's ego but miserably fails when he is grabbed by the Beast and held above a massive drop.

"No let me go! I'll do anything! Anything!" So the all powerful ego maniac Gaston gets scared huh?

Beast is glaring at the man, but suddenly he looks shocked at what he's about to do. A serious change has taken place in him...he lets Gaston...because he knows it's the right thing to do and tells him to "Get Out," to which Gaston quickly begins to make his escape.

"Beast!" Belle exclaims sticking out a hand to the creature as he climbs the roof...their hands meet and you truly see the contrast between the two. But looking at their faces...neither could be happier just to see each other.

Suddenly the Beast roars and we see that Gaston has stabbed him in the side...sadly(Yeah right I was waiting for this moment!) Gaston falls from the castle and dies a harsh painful...death...yay.

Pulling the Beast onto the balcony Belle gently and lovingly lies him down on the concrete...he's dying and she knows it but she doesn't want to admit it. Sweet loving dialogue is whispered out as the servants watch sadly from the sides. With his last breath the Beast smiles up at Belle and caresses her cheek "At least I got to see you...one...last time" With that his head falls back on the ground.

"No! No! Please Don't leave me...I love you" Belle cries collapsing on the Beast huge unmoving chest...at that moment the last petal falls and the servants are devasted.

But wait...suddenly streaks of light begin to fall and the Beast rises from the ground...Belle's shocked and so are the sevants! Right in front of their eyes that hideous Beast is turned human! Belle broke the spell!

Falling to the ground the now prince stands up looks at his hands in disbelief then turns to Belle who's having a hard time figuring out what is going on. "Belle...it's me!" He exclaims Belle though is still skeptical..she touches his hair then looks into those clear blue eyes..."It is you!" She smiles as he gently cups her face and they kiss.

The castle turns back to being bright and beautiful..the servants are once again humans! Everyone's excited! The joy on every one of their faces is truly enough to bring tears to your own eyes.

The Prince picks Belle up and were in the ballroom again...they kiss and look into the others eyes looking like they will never look away again.

In the end..what you see is another stained glass window...but this time to figures are dancing and theres a beautiful red rose right above their heads.

The Songs:

Belle
Favorite Line: "Oh isn't this amazing?"
Great intro song...you meet the main character/hereione of the story and the villian(even if at the time you don't know that's who he will end up being) you see that Belle is an outcast because of superficial reasons but you also see that she doesn't want to fit in with these people...she would rather live a life full of adventure.

Belle(Reprise)
Favorite Line: "I want so much more than they've got planned..."
I think this is a great reprise..you see Belle's try desire to leave the town and also it is funny when she is making fun of Gaston's proposal, it shows that even though she is more serious she can have fun.

Gaston
Favorite Line: "Lefou I'm afraid I've been thinking..."
This also has a reprise but I just count them as one, this is a fun number that has some funny lyrics and rymes in it...you really see how superficial Mr.Gaston truly is and how highly he thinks of himself. Lefou also gets a little more personality in this song.

Be Our Guest
Favorite Line: "After all miss...this is France!"
This is a great number...it's fun and Lumiere is absolutly enchanting. The kitchen objects are beautifully drawn and chereographed and it's hilarious when even Cogsworht begins to lighten up and dance along with them.

Soemthing There
Favorite Line: "New and a bit alarming who'd have ever thought that this could be?"
This song shows the real change in the Beast and the love that is slowly starting to form between them, in a sense also Belle is beginning to realize that she is in love with this creature she just can't admit it just yet.

Human Again
Favorite Line: "On that glorious morn when were finally reborn!"
The movie just doesn't feel the same without this song in it...this bridges a huge gap that I always felt was present in this movie. We also get to see a cute scene of Belle and the Beast reading "Romeo and Juliet" Beast admits he can't read and Belle offers to help...the smile on her face as he attempts to say the words can only say one thing...Love!

Beauty and the Beast
Favorite Line: "Both a little scared...neither one prepared..."
This song never fails to make me cry...the music is beautiful and the scene unfolding is so simple yet so romantic that it makes you just want to cry and smile. There's a moment in this song that is so short yet so sweet, the part where Belle looks up at the Beast lovingly then lies her head on his chest completly content and the look of triumph on his face...gosh it's just...a masterpeice truly.

The Mob Song
Favorite Line: "Here we come were 50 strong and 50 frenchmen can't be wrong!"
This is a much darker song compared to the others..but it is a masterpiece within itself. They needed something to take the characters to the castle...and assing a mob song really perfected the transition and gave more tension to the scene.

Some Words:
So this is my favorite Disney Classic of all time and I just wanted to share it through my eyes as I see it. Something special about this movie is that...it isn't the songs that draw you in...without them this movie would be just as amaazing...for some Disney movies thats all the appeal but this movie just simply has a wonderful sotry and wonderful characters that go along with it. No it's not perfect...but if everything was perfect...nothing would be perfect...everything would be boring and alike and this movie is so different from the others that to me that makes it perfect.
