• Moana - New Disney Princess?

    Fan of it? 1 Fan

I guess everyone heard about this upcoming movie. Well, heroine from 'Moana' is probably not princess, but since Frozen there is so huge criticism about Disney's ignoring Princesses of Colors, that there are already rumors that Disney would add her

Hope it's not true. Sure, we don't know anything about her. We may loved her in the future. But 14 princess, seriously? And I highly doubt that Disney is planning to add another princess, when they didn't even start making a movie.

I agree that Disney has been ignoring princesses of color. Since Tiana, there's been Rapunzel, Merida, Anna, and Elsa (and Sofia if you want to count her [Though Sofia the First has princesses of color in the show]). They're all White. And I'm still waiting for my Hispanic princess.

Actually, Disney already has started making the movie. From the few details released, Moana is the daughter of a chief, not exactly a princess, but in a position where Disney might consider her a Princess the way Pocahontas is. I mean, they are both in the exact same position nobility-wise. I don't know if she will become a part of the lineup, though. That's years away. I heard that they are considering making this movie in the same animation style as Paperman, so it could be kind of interesting to have a Princess who's both 2D and 3D combined. I don't really mind if they add her, but I don't really feel like we need more Princesses. But anyway, here's a link to the article with the story details:

WisteriaMelody's comment has me thinkin'. If Moana IS the daughter of a chief, we could have another Native American princess. I don't know about her nationality, but that's just a thought.
