"I like this view." House said as he sat a top the roof of Ariel's apartment building. She sat down in the chair beside him and handed him a beer.
"Thanks...I use to always hide on the rooftop at the hospital." He said.
She smiled as she drank some of her own beer.
"Your own hidden sanctuary?"
"Sort of, but I was always found."
"It's chilly tonight... maybe we should have stayed for the 11:15 showing." She said as she leaned further back into her chair.
"No movie can match this." He said as he pointed the the lit up skyscrapers and the full moon above.
She turned to look at him. He had a soft smile playing on his lips. He turned his attention away from the skyline and on to her. He took off his blazer and handed it to her.
"Thanks." She said softly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Why did you disappear last night?" She asked him as she handed him a bowl of popcorn. They both had retreated from the roof to her apartment living room.
"Well, this place is a real dive." Ariel stated as she sat down at the booth.
"One of the best dives in Princeton." He said as he sat across from her and lay his cane against the table.
She opened up a menu and began to scan for something to order. House merely watched her for a moment. He already knew what he was gonna get. The same thing he always gets when he comes here; chicken souvlaki platter, a beer, and bakalava for dessert.
"So, those test results you were picking up..."
She looked up at him with a challenge in her eyes.
"Am I gonna need to double bag it tonight?" He asked with his usual snark.
She looked at him half amused and half irritated.
"It was a blood test for iron deffiency and you won't be bagging anything tonight. This is only a casual outing." She said as she closed her menu and leaned back against the booth cushion.
"Outing? That's an interesting word choice. Why not call this a date? Those batting lashes of yours just scream come and get it."
Ariel Harrison(as I envision her and also as close to getting LG on the show as I'll get)
It was an overcast morning when House awoke the next day. His pain was an eight on the pain scale, and his head was fighting to push it to a ten. Letting out a harsh exhalation, he propped himself up and began the daily drudgery.
**************************************************
"You have two hours of clinic today House, and I don't want to hear any argument about." Cuddy said as she handed him the green chart for exam room 3.
He looked appraisingly over her form. She was wearing a dark purple v-neck blouse that fit snug against her breasts. Her skirt stopped above her knee revealing her shapely calfs. He noted her rosier than usal cheeks. He surmised that Lucas had made her quite happy before work this morning. She never could keep that silly with sin look off her face after sex.
"Whatever, Cuddy...the sooner I get done the sooner I can get to eating Wilson's lunch." He said gruffly as he pulled the file from Cuddy's hands. As House began to walk away he suddenly felt a soft hand pulling him back.
Once the waitress had moved out of the way, House could once again take in the mystery woman that sat across the room. He wondered if she was a professor at the university or possibly a 'mature' student.
The woman looked up from her notebook and caught House staring. He barely bristled at being found out and instead unabashedly continued to stare.
"Hon, you want anything else?" The waitress asked House once more. He kept his gaze on the mystery woman while answering.
"Another cup of coffee, but send it over to the woman at the end."
The waitress looked back and forth between House and the woman and sighed.
"Of course, sir."
The mystery woman rolled her eyes at the man from across the room and decided to simply ignore him and get back to work. She had a deadline to meet and she didn't need to be bitched out, once again, by her editor about the twenty pages.
"Miss?" The waitress asked.
The woman looked up slightly startled by the woman's sudden appearance.
House sat in the darkness of his bedroom thinking over the turn of events that had recently occurred within his life. Cameron had left. Cuddy was with Lucas. He didn't know how to feel anymore. After all the positive strides he had made he still was no closer to having a different life. As he pondered his situation he looked around his bedroom and took in the pictures of Wilson and Amber gleefully smiling. He enjoyed being roommates with his best, bud but he knew it was time to go home...no matter how nervous he was about falling back in to his old patterns.
"You're sure you want to move back?" Wilson asked as he handed House a plate of pancakes. House nodded in response.
"What does Nolan think?"
"He thinks that if I feel ready then I am ready." House said as he drizzled syrup on his pancakes.
"Well, I hate to say it but it won't be the same without you here."
"Oh, Jim don't make this harder than it has to be." House said in a mockingly dramatic manner. Wilson smirked.
I'm talking of course about the lack of explanations given for House's supposed attempt to kill Chase on the episode House Divided.
My first reaction to that scene was "what the hell?!?!". It has never been hinted that House either likes or dislikes Chase any different than any of the other ducklings (old or new), so why on earth would he ever want him dead? I thought it was really lame at the momment, and since I couldn't find a good explanation for it I decided to ignore it and pretend it never happened.
But weeks later, after watching Both Sides Now, I finally found an explanation that not only made sense to me but also fit perfectly and could've been a hint of what was going to come (if you squint :P).
House doesn't do well accepting other people's joy and contentment, he's not the type to be happy for you, he almost seems to find it comforting to know that most people have some degree of misery, probably because then his even bigger misery isn't so out of place, would mean it's practically a human condition to have a bit of misery, he might be more miserable than the majority of the people but not by much.
Hugh finally woke up after two days of coma. He had a bike accident and was rushed to the nearest hospital in Century City. He ran his fingers on his beard, feeling some facial hair and knew he was still alive. He sighed before noticing that he was alone in his hospital room. Does his family know what happened? His co-workers, why aren’t they here? But then he doesn’t want them to know anyway. He tried to got on his feet after knowing he could sit up and he was surprised to know that the nurse behind those glass window doesn’t care but still he tiptoed out of the ICU leaving his IV behind.
A few walks had been made before he decided to rest on a hallway bench and stared at the room where he was awhile ago. A figure suddenly sat down next to him, a few inches apart. A man with matted brown hair, dressed with in suit and pants and with a cane. Gregory House. Both of them didn’t bother to look at each other since they’re too focused on the ICU room before them. House was twirling his cane and a cell phone was Hugh’s. The cane accidentally slipped out of House’s finger and it landed on the floor making a quite loud noise.
Another Week went by.
Didn´t hear anything from Wilson or Cuddy or somebody else.
Dr. Travis and i went out for a walk. Today we talked about my childhood.
It was not easy talking about my Dad and Mum.
But i think we´ve had a good start at this chapter of my life.
There are often moments i´m jsut a little afraid about talking in this intimate way to Dr. Travis. Normally it´s Wilson i talk to like this. And there are many things he didn´t know yet like Dr. Travis.
My leg hurt a little when we were back. Emma brought me my pill and i swallowed it down.
I had some French Toast and two or three cups of coffee.
Frank had a girlfriend since three days. Her Name is Sally. She´s nice...for Frank. She had the Asperger syndrome, poor little girl.
So, this evening is damn boring. I played the guitar, listened to the singing birds outside, fighted with that Zombie-Bitch and.....
by tomorrow, ít knocks.
Finally! This morning i met Dr. Travis. He´s a small fat man with brown eyes and mustached. We talked a lot. First about Wilson, then about my hallucinations in the end about Cuddy.
He gave me some mystery files. Now the jail felt like i´m in school.
But it´s ok....i like him and the way we built dependence to each other.
After Lunch i was tired. It was the first time since i ´can´t really remember that i felt like this. God thanks for this sleep.
When i woke up this damn stupid nurse came into my room. She brought me a new pill and stared at me till i swallowed it down.
I´m not really sure which of these bitches i hated more. Emma the silly nurse or Amber the Zombie.....BOTH!!!
When i met Frank this evening, the Zombie was still staring at me. She grined devlish, but i tried to ignore her like Dr. Travis said i should do. But it doesn´t work. Her voice stormed my head like an earthquake.
So i went back to my room in silence.
This was a cool day! After i lost a hundred times this damn game.....i won!!! Frank wasn´t really happy about this, but...who cares!
After Emma found my pills she called Dr. Snyder. Oh my god, what a stupid monster-wife!
I´m detoxed and i don´t wanna get back on some other shit, i told her. She didn´t care.
Dr. Snyder tried to talk to me about my hallucinations, but i won´t. I´m still waiting for Dr. Travis.
While i watched TV, a guy sat down next to me. He didn´t say a word so i didn´t care. After a few minutes he began to ask me a tone of questions.
"What´s your name?"----Greg.
"Why are you here?"----Checking the Hotel.
"What are you doing right now?"----Find a way to kill you.
"Are you Killer?"----Maybe.
"Could i be your friend?"----No!
"Would you like to be alone?"----Yes!
"What are you watching?"----General Hospital.
"Should i be quiet?"----AHHHH! YES!!!
God damn this guy played a risky game with my nerves.
First Night is over. I slept not very well, maybe an hour or two. A nurse brought me pills---i stashed them away right into this nice cactus behind me at the window.
After i took a shower and have some breakfast, i went to my first meeting with Dr. Snyder. God Damn! Hot Woman!
Breakfast was nasty---i felt like i´m in jail!
Dr. Snyder is hot, but she isn´t very professsional...hope the ohther Doctor is coming back right soon. Wilson told me. His name is Travis, Dr. Travis, and he is the boss of this...hm, let´s call it jail!
So, hours went by and this fucking bitch is already by my side. She laughs at me. She stares at me. God! I hate her...
Well, i met a man. About sixty years, grey hair, little smaller than me, without a beard. He´s funny. His name is Frank. We played this game together. He´s nervy but quiet. I like that! Not like that bitch who interrupt me all the time.
In the evening the nurse came back and brought me some new pills---ha! stashed them away anew....the nurse´s name is Emma, she´s an idiot!
Summary: Every neighborhood has its legend, Boo Radley, “the town witch”; God knows what the Princeton children all think of House.
Lame Excuse: I’m barely 13 years old, all I can say is to not expect the works of Shakespeare! Its also my first real project!
Disclaimer: I think the fact that I wrote disclaimer could pretty much say it for itself, don’t you think.
Neighborhood Legend
‘Baker Street.’ Tom Wiggens thought as he pulled the suitcase out of his dad’s Honda.
“Baker Street,” he whispered to himself. “What an original name.” he rolled the heavy suitcase onto the sidewalk and proceeded to drag it to the door of his new apartment, 220b Baker Street. He looked at the red brick apartment complex. And then he looked at all the other red brick apartment complexes. He’s been living in a hotel for a while until they moved a lot of their stuff in. ‘And I thought Jersey was mainly a forest covered place,’ The young teenager looked around Baker Street, noticing couples jogging, people walking their dogs, and a group of kids talking in the alleyway across the street. He snickered to himself,...
Chapter One
A Changed Man
Loss changes a person.
Wilson had seen his share of loss in his years as head of oncology at the hospital, one family after another passing through his doors with the news that there was nothing to be done to help their loved one - that they were going to lose them.
At least they had some warning...
Chapter Three
Shocking Admission
By the time Wilson returned pushing the gurney, House appeared to be sound asleep, lying down on the sofa. He frowned, biting his lower lip as he considered his options. He hated to wake him when he had just fallen asleep, but he knew better than to think that he could lift him onto the gurney by himself.
Positioning the gurney beside the sofa, he crouched down in front of his friend, reaching out a hand to gently shake his shoulder.
"House...come on, I need you to wake up for a minute..."
Chapter Two
An Ugly Truth
"House? House! Come on, now, buddy, stay with me here, okay? House!"
Wilson found that he was nearly yelling, struggling to keep his friend conscious. Unsure how much blood he might have lost or how badly he was injured, he was afraid to allow him to pass out, for fear that he might slip into a coma. House's head lolled backward, and Wilson could feel his body growing slack against his supportive arm around him. He shook him slightly, fighting to keep his panicked emotions in check.
"House! You've gotta stay awake, man, come on!"
