The memory haunted me as I was parking to go to a party with my good friend.

"Yeah, so, Duncan's gonna be here. It doesn't matter, we are mature adults. It's not like he's gonna like...try to make us get back together or something." I said.
"Are you gonna sing?"
"No...but I am gonna dance and get crazy. I mean, this is one of Geoff's parties."
We laughed and walked into the large hotel and straight to the ballroom where the party was being held.
It was crowded as hell in there. I saw Duncan and he was flirting with some girl, and it made me the most pissed off girl in the room when he looked straight at me, then kissed the other chick.
That. Tore. Everything.

After I walked away from Courtney that girl I kissed earlier showed up...what was her name...oh, her name's Karolina or Kristina or something of that nature...
"Duncan! Come on, let's go dance or something!" She was obviously wasted more than a lotta people here.
"Hey....you! I'm sorry, but I gotta go!" I held up my police badge, "duty calls."
Now, I know what you're thinking! I was a total delinquent, and now I'm like my folks. A police officer. Long story short, I wanted to be with Courtney without jaily interruptions. And my parents had a good relationship with some police people, so I could stay with her.
Look where we are now...
"Hehe, I always loved a man in uniform," She purred as she put her hands on my chest.
"Woah there, chickie, haha...gotta go!" I said as I speed walked off into the hall to think.
I saw Courtney sitting there with her head down and I asked, "You okay?"
She raised her head for a moment, grimaced, then put her head back down, "What the hell do you want, Duncan?" She spat the words as if they were a wretched curse at me.

Now that made me even more wanting to annoy the heck out of her. And yet it made me even more scared of her, not that I'd ever give her that pride.
"Princess," I said the name so sincerely and sweetly that it was hard not to give me a chance. A trait of mine that I can't say I hated.
"Don't you dare 'princess' me! I'm no longer your princess. You ruined that when you kissed that damn girl!"

I walked into the lobby of the hotel and sat down in the waiting area that overlooked Niagara Falls. I even have to admit that it was beautiful.
It reminded me of back at TDWT, where it all broke down.
I meant it, I loved Courtney. All the other girls were just there to edge off the curve of it. You know how when you're hungry, and you eat something small to curve the edge of your hunger? That's what other girls were for me.
I know it's rude, but Courtney....Courtney...,"Duncan," Courtney's voice said.
I thought she was in my head for a second, but then I looked up and she was standing there, looking all beautiful.
When I said nothing she said, "You were right."
"About?" I asked.
