EastEnders’s starts have used their creative talents to support Keech Hospice Care’s adult and children’s hospices. Rita Simons (Roxy Mitchell), Thomas Law (Peter Beale), Kara Tointon (Dawn Swann), Lorna Fitzgerald (Abi Branning), Madeline Duggan (Lauren Branning), Lucy Speed (Natalie Evans) and Martin Kemp (Steve Owen) have each painted a butterfly – a theme which was chosen to represent the beauty of all lives, however short they may be.
The special group of paintings, named ‘The Chrysalis Collection’, will be auctioned off on eBay in March.
“We have been overwhelmed by the generous response of so many celebrities,” Keech fundraiser Laura Devine said.
“We’ve not only had people who have a local connection to our hospices painting a beautiful butterfly, but stars from all over the entertainment world have come forward to show their support. It’s great to see the young Eastenders’ stars helping us and we were lucky enough to have Thomas Law visit our adult and children’s hospices earlier this year.
“Thomas really enjoyed his visit and spent time with many of our patients, telling stories from his time on the show and answering the many questions people had. We are delighted he has shared his experience with his fellow soapstars and encouraged them to create a butterfly for the charity.”
The auction will run from 19th to 28th March and there will be a public exhibition of the star-studded artwork throughout the month at the Stockwood Discovery Centre in Luton, nearby the site of the hospices.
All proceeds will help Keech Hospice Care continue supporting adult and children with life-limiting illnesses, and their families.
