On Sentimental Journey, actress and singer Emmy Rossum brings her irrepressible personality and stellar voice to songs popularized by some of the most beloved artists of the last century — from Bessie Smith to Frank Sinatra, from Judy Garland to Connie Francis, from Eddie Cantor to Edith Piaf. The result is not only a charming stroll through the American Songbook but also a thoroughly inspired passion project.
Rossum, who was in the Children’s Chorus of the New York Metropolitan Opera (performing with Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti), made her film...
When she was younger
Stood staring at the door
Waiting for the day that she knew would surely come
Tied bows in her hair
Dressed as she thought you'd like
But as time ticked away
Promises fade one by one
And now she's all grown
Made it through on her own
Now strong enough to see
That you've been where you want to be
No longer dying inside
I will not let you define
Everything I am by one thing that I don't have

“Inside out/Before you now/Bare these bones/And lay me down…Will you take me as I am?” “Inside Out”
“This music is who I am,” says 20-year-old Emmy Rossum of her self-titled debut on Geffen Records. “In the movies, I’ve always felt like one piece of the puzzle. But this is all me. It’s my baby. I get to write, direct and star. And that’s the most fulfilling thing. It’s everything I’ve always wanted to do. This music is so close to me. It’s something new… You can’t categorize it.”
Hi! Emmy did a GREAT job in "The Phantom of the Opera!" She is FANTASTIC as the new Christine! I actually love her and Sarah Brightman both. I hope Emmy does a album of ALW songs some day. I hope I am not the only one who has thought this: But I think Emmy would sing, "Don't Cry for me Argentina," from "Evita" BEAUTIFULLY!!! Also, if she ever does Broadway, I think she would be GREAT as Eva Peron! What do you think? Did Emmy win any awards for POTO? I hope she won a best actress award for it!
