I Was Thinking About Ways Fanpop Could Be Better (Not That It Isn't Good How It Is) And I Thought That More Personalized Would Be Great. I'll Explain What I Mean.

I Thought It Would Be Good If You Had An Option To Write More About Yourself On Your Profile Page.

Profile Design

It Would Also Be Good If You Could Give Your Profile Different Skins Or Themes Or Something Around Them Lines, But Made By Fanpop So That Bad Un-Neat Pixelated Skins Don't Get Put Up.

Applications

Having Applications Would Be Great, They Should Be On The Page The App Is Linked With e.g For The Fanpop Spot, There Could Be An Application 'Which Fanpop Employee Are You?' And There Should Be A Option On The App 'Add To Profile' So You Can Take The Quiz And Have Your Result Appear On Your Profile Page... By Applications I Don't Only Mean Quizzes, There Could Be Lots Of Different Apps Like Games. (e.g Tetris)

I Know There IS Already The Pop Quiz Feature But It Would Be Cool If You Can Make Your Own Personal Quiz On Your Profile With A Set Of Questions You Have To Do There And Then (Not Like The Pop Quiz Where You Can Fit It Around Your Own Time)

Oh Yeah, I Don't Want To Turn Fanpop Into Bebo, Myspace Or Facebook & I Don't Think A Little Profile Personalization Will Turn Fanpop Into One Of Them Because It Is Awesome For Its Spots & Everything Included On Them.

jighooligan101 Because all of these things are already on MySpace Bebo and Facebook. Alothough Fanpop is social networking its so much more then those other sites and by being unique it stands out and doesnt get thrown in with sites that arent as good as Fanpop.

Lunaste I would like the option of adding a little 'about you' text, because half the time I don't know who I'm friending (or what that person is like). Usually own backgrounds develop in unreadable profiles and flashing graphics, and apps like on FaceBook are so freaking useless. Btw, Am I The Only One Who Finds This Kind Of Typing Unreadable And Pretty Annoying?

I want the layout of the profile to stay the same but an option to write a little bit more about yourself or whatever you want! Also with a choice to change the theme but people shouldn't be able to upload there own skin like on bebo there should be skins or themes whatever you want to call it already set. The applications bit, why wouldn't that be good, only because sites like bebo, myspace have applications doesn't mean Fanpops turning into them... Well surely personality quizzes would be good, for example the Heroes spot could have 'which heroes character you? ' But anyway no i don't want Fanpops main thing to be the profiles but even if you could personalize them a bit they wouldn't take over the spots because the spots are awesome.

Cammie How much more personalzied do you want the profiles to be? As it is now, every user can have the following: their name their age the country they're from (which includes a cute little flag,lol) their motto their own icon plus their favourites like tv shows,movies,books,music,websites,etc. Man, that's plenty of user inforation as far as I'm concerned. To be able to write a a full page history on oneself (like Bebo does) only turns the profiles to smut ... most of the time. When I had an account with Bebo, some of the users' profiles were shocking. Nearly every second person feels the need to expose to the world details that should not be made public. Eg: "I'm a devoted alcoholic and full-time stoner. Luv to party and dance my fat assssss off and luvvvvv my sex." This is an actual profile description from a 15-year-old's profile. As for applications and skins ... they're overrated! EDIT: There is a lot more idiots on "them" sites, I agree, w2w.

hooch-is-crazy Applications can cause many problems because most people don't know loads about computers (me included) and can slow down computers and even cause them to crash if they are too overloaded and being viewed by someone on a slow computer.

knifewrench I get what you are saying Want2WatchHeroes. Some of us - including myself - are customizing-junkies. You must be getting rather angry with all the people saying "we don't want it to be like MySpace" but it's a concept a lot of people are afraid of Fanpop taking inspiration from. I think some customisations should be added, but new profile skins and such should be suggested to the F4 before it becomes an official and usable thingy-ma-jig. Someone on the Suggestions and Ideas forum page suggested making skins and themes viewable depending on whose account is being used. I do love personalty quizzes though, gotta have that on Fanpop at some point. Be warned though, if any noobpoppers decide to submit a poorly spelt, opinionated, mean, and repeated personality I'll have to get my matches out again (twitches) ;)

want2watcheroes I agree with you knifewrench, if they do the personality quizzes there will have to be a way of stopping the final piece of what you wrote; maybe only Fanpop can choose who they trust enough to make the quizzes... But i don't know how that would work.

germany123 lol..we dont like change here :P i strongly oppose custom made backgrounds because of the reasons given and most of the time it makes the content on the profile unreadable ( people think yellow writing on a pink background is a good idea etc). i would be okay with some colour changes..like you could change stuff that is now blue into other colours provided by the site. as for more info on your profile..well i didnt really fill oot mine since those self descriptions (even if they are not as bad as the one cammie posted) make me cringe. i also said this before..i really dont have trouble finding oot what another user likes when i see their profile. even withoot a giant sparkling vampire on their profile background you will spot a twilighter instantly. i dont normally doubt that people who have "OMG Brucas forever" as their motto are huge OTH fans...as much as i like new ideas i dont really see a [i]need[/i] for more personalization. but thats just my opinion.

spikes_girl i don't really care about the skins and quizzes, i wouldn't mind if we got either one, but i don't care if we don't get them either. adding more personal info on profiles though would be great. or more room for stuff in the things we can already say on our profiles...i don't nearly have all my favorite books and movies on there!

livi_wells Great ideas, but personally, I am only allowed to use fanpop because it is NOT in any way like facebook, myspace etc... It's much safer you young people like me.

papa I like some of your ideas. Will definitely take some of these under consideration! We've toyed with ideas like custom backgrounds as well as some other personalization options too.

Why I Left Fanpop

G'day Fanpoppers! Hope you are all well.
I've just swooped in to give you guys an explanation as to why I have left the site last week.
Firstly, many thanks to those of you who emailed me wanting to know what had happened to my profile. Some thought my account had been hacked,others assumed I had been suspended as a user. To be totally honest, I wasn't in any mood to reply to numerous emails indiviually nor did I want to bother with explanations.

I LOVE fanpop! I wish I was here years earlier ! It thrills me to no end that I can talk to people from all over the world! I have met some really lovely, charming, friendly people here! I met my new husband here! We can't be any happier! A fan of ours even made a club about us! (it's the Speter club!) Thanks sapherequeen! I fanned (and they fanned me back!) 2 of the fab 4, Dave and papa ! They found out about Peter and I meeting here then getting married! They were very happy and congratulated us! That was soooo cool ! Sorry I don't know the other 2 :/ Random is really fun because I can post random images! My favorite club is 'God-the-Creator' and of course 'Speter' ~LOL~ The only thing I don't like is the childish behavior of some of the people. And the hate :P Over all, there is more good than bad :)
