So obviously one of my favorite days of the year and I have to highlight my favorite movie series ever with a special article of my ranking of all TWELVE Friday the 13th movies. Enjoy!

For those who are (sadly) unaware of what Friday the 13th actually is, here's a brief history thanks to Wikipedia:

"Friday the 13th is an American horror franchise that comprises twelve slasher films, a television show, novels, comic books, video games, and tie‑in merchandise, as of 2017. The franchise mainly focuses on the fictional character Jason Voorhees, who drowned as a boy at Camp Crystal Lake due to the negligence of the camp staff. Decades later, the lake is rumored to be "cursed" and is the setting for a series of mass murders. Jason is featured in all of the films, as either the killer or the motivation for the killings."

Jason Goes to Hell

This movie was just...UGHHHH. I have so much love for this series, and when I have love for a series, I put on my rose colored glasses and refuse to hear anything negative about it. But this one...the criticism is 100% deserved, even if I don't really like hearing it from anyone but me. There's not really "Jason" in this movie, the characters are some of the worst in the franchise and I don't really care whether they lived or not. I liked some like John D. LeMay's character because I love the actor and he was also in the totally unrelated TV series of the same name. The deaths in this movie are some of the best though, so it's kind of like a lose-win. It's definitely the franchises weakest entry.

Number Eleven
Jason X

I don't really have a problem with this movie, I just kind of think space horror is dumb. When I think of Friday the 13th, I think of the woods. I think of a rusty shack in the woods. I think of Camp Crystal Lake. I don't think of a spaceship in the future. I mean, how he got there was kind of realistic-ish. At least for a horror movie, but it could have been better than what it was. Uber Jason was kickass though.

Number Ten
Friday the 13th (2009)

Again, I don't really have a problem with this movie it's just not everything it could have been. Everything was set up perfectly, and the atmosphere was great with killer (pun intended) music to boot. Jason himself was awesome and creepy and brutal, everything I wanted him to be. But the party of young friends (both of them) were just so damn unlikeable caricatures of former (and better) F13 series characters. I loved the deaths though and this one has the greatest soundtrack of all, I will frequently listen to it just because.

Number Nine
Friday the 13th Part 3

πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

Many years ago when I was first watching the series through, this was my least favorite of them all but I've appreciated it more as time goes on. I still see some flaws but I definitely appreciate it a lot more for what it is now. The last 20 minutes or so is pretty amazing and Chris was a formidable foe to Jason, her chase scene if the best of Friday the 13th.

Number Eight
Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

This is a great movie and a worthy addition to the series, but I just don't love it as much as the others. I like my movies (but especially my F13 movies) with a little bit of cheese, and this one just doesn't have enough of it for me. I didn't really care about any of the characters except grown Tommy, and the deaths weren't overly spectacular either.

Number Seven
Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

Like Part 3, I also didn't like this the first time around but now I really love it. I loved Pam, I thought she was a great F13 final girl and the death count is great considering it wasn't really ~Jason~. I didn't much care for this version of Tommy but thankfully he didn't speak so I didn't have to be that annoyed by him.

Number Six
Friday the 13th (1980)
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

With so many films in the series, one would think that the original would be kind of overshadowed but this is a legendary movie and the one that of course started it all. A great twist at the end and likeable characters with some pretty innovative deaths. What more could a horror fan ask for?

Number Five
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

Many fans really hate this movie in the series, and I can understand why they have a problem with it. But I think it's very fun and Rennie is one of my all-time favorite F13 girls. There's always one movie in a series, on season in a TV show that isn't that popular with fans and this is that movie but I'm very defensive of it. I thought even the characters we weren't supposed to like were somewhat likeable, except McCulloch.

Number Four
Freddy vs Jason
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

Oh my gosh, what a super fun movie! I mean, like really fun! My two all-time favorite horror bad guys battling it out. I do wish we had seen more Freddy kills, but other than that it was a perfect movie. I liked the characters, the battle scenes with Freddy and Jason were great and the soundtrack super amazing.

Number Three
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

I love everything about this movie. I love the deaths, I love the characters, but most of all this is my favorite Jason look. Both with and without the mask. The effects and makeup people did an outstanding job on this one, and after the ending of Jason Lives, this is really what I'd picture someone or thing to look like after coming out of that. The side of his face with teeth showing is so badass. This movie stands out among the best.

Number Two
Friday the 13th Part 2
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

This movie overall has the greatest and most memorable death scenes with my favorite being the 2 person spear in the bed. Totally iconic. Every character was likeable, the setting was great, and the end chase with Ginny and Jason was great. I also may be in the minority on this one, but I LOVED Jason's look here too. Sackface Jason is definitely creepier than masked Jason, although the mask is definitely more iconic.

Number One
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

Ugh where do I even begin with how much I love this one?! I don't even know! Trish is my favorite F13 girl, though every single character here was so damn likeable I didn't want ANY of them to die! The Jarvis house is a great setting and it's very atmospheric and really just the best there is.
