Usually your local library will have every book in the series. That's how I read fruits basket everytime I get them. And they can get the books from every library in the county. I don't know if this helped but its better than having to buy all the books for over 400$

I'm afraid I have no experience on how to get them digitally, but I managed to get the whole series (except for the ninth volume, which I have yet to read) from the library, which is saying something as my county library system has a miniscule amount of manga. If your local libraries are anything like here, you should be able to get a PIN code by asking a librarian, then you can place library reservations online and pick them up at your preferred library when they are available.
