Chapter 12: A Diamond From Black Dust
"Ugh! This is getting us nowhere!"
Edward whispered harshly as he slammed down yet another folder, empty of the information he was seeking.
"You're just lucky the Colonel had a meeting today with one of the commanders from the troops they sent to the North." Sheska said blatantly, setting another stack of papers onto Ed's desk in the library. Ling and Hayden were sifting noisily through random bookshelves, but no sign of a Solf J. Kimblee so far. Alphonse was babysitting Boston, playing with his tiny paws and poking his tubby belly.
"Thanks again for getting us in here unnoticed. I swear I'll repay you." Edward said, casting his eyes upward from his stack of papers. Sheska just grinned and sorted through another stack of documents.
"Ed! Have these, too." Ling smiled as he tossed more papers behind his head to Edward. Ed caught them angrily, snatching out of the air with a sharp snap of the arm. He cracked open yet another folder. This one was different though, stained yellow with age and torn up along the edges from burn marks. Ed slowly sifted through the papers, sorting them left and right....
