An English project?? Fun project! *jealous* Wow, there's really no way to coach holding your breath for a long time, except to be in shape and practice :P Good luck.

Yeah you need to have trainging to learn how to improve your breathing during singing, and constant practice, its not going to happen in a short space of time, Lea michele has been in trainging for god knows how many years, and then of course not everyone has the natural ability to learn how to sing properly, if you want to learn how to sing this properly you need to get into trainging no matter how good you think you are!

well, I don't know absolutely anything about singing (I suck:P).. but I was a professional swimmer, and I had to hold my breath as long as I could (makes u go faster), and my coach always told me that -sadly- the only way to hold the breath for a longer time was just to practice. So all I can say to you is to take a chronometer, see how many seconds you can hold your breath for, and then try to beat your own time:) good luck, hope you can make it! =)

Hi! I'm in choir and our music instructor says you have to breath like a singer. no don't get all self conscious, you have to push your stomach out or as my teacher says "make yourself fat" when you breath air in. it will allow more air to come into your lungs. Then, if you are struggling to hold the note to the very end, suck your stomach in. it will give you lungs a little "kick" because it forces the diaphragm to push up and let more air out of your lungs. But, as some others have said, practice helps to. :)
