Hmm, my opinion is that he himself will not return, in all his Jack Bass glory.

However, we do have an episode coming up entitled "The Remains of the J".

Of course, the instant presumption may have been that J is Jenny, however we do have a mystery that needs cleaning up and one of the two involved has a name that begins with J...

Okay, I shall stop talking in riddles now.

My opinion is that in "The Remains of the J", something surfaces that is a clue, or indeed a spoiler, of what happened; of course, this will cause grief for Chuck and Blair. It just wouldn't be Gossip Girl Season Two if it didn't.

Therefore, we have actual remains of J.

Well, not actual remains of him. That would just be sick.

Plus, I believe it was in the Basstalk promo we see Chuck looking into something then looking furiously up a staircase.
Now, we know for definite that those "Speak of the Week" promos had clips from 2x18 and 2x19, therefore it is possible there were also clips from 2x20 (Remains of the J). They had finished filming that episode when they released the promos.

Though, that's a wild stab in the dark. Nothing to support the guess at all.
My other presumption for that clip is that he found something in what he was looking at that is related to Elle and her Eyes Wide Shut mystery.
Now, if this is the case, I won't ever see that clip or Chuck's "angry face" within it ever again, as I do literally keep my Eyes Wide Shut in the scenes of the abismal storyline.

Anyhow, I've made my guess, but any other is as good as mine.

I do hope they clear it up though; if it's a storyline that they've just dropped (which really is possible, there was a "key scene" that we heard lines from in the 2x15 promo and never saw in the episode; though, they may have just been postponing the storyline and cut it out etc)... well, let us say it is not improving my confidence in the rather inconsistent writing we've been receiving this season at all.

Enough of my complaints anyway, I gave my guess at an answer and I hope it helps!

I think that he will show up in all his glory. Probably with a plot to take over Bass industries again, or to ruin Chair!

Seems how we still don't know what Blair and Jack apparently did on New Years (EW!) thats my opinion.
