Since TwilightGurl made an account and will be seeing my response, I decided I would respond because she doesn't know why people don't agree with her. So, here I go:
1.Theres too much swearing. Ron says “blo*dy H*ll” all the time, and Molly weasley calls Bellatrix Lestrange a B*TCH in the last book! Thats seriously unaceptable! I mean little kids are reading that stuff!!! That kind of language is really bad!
I don't particularly like Ron's swearing either, but he's the only character that excessively swears and I'm sure you know someone too who swears all the time, and you also know people who swear rarely or not at all. Ron's character is realistic because people swear in real life -- and it would be strange to make ALL 1,000 students or so not swear. When Molly called Bella that, she had a reason - she was horribly angry {Bella almost killed her child AFTER making fun of her now-dead son.} Some people curse when they're upset, it's realistic, especially if you're now angry that your children's protection is threatened.
2.Its too violent. Like people die in every book, i mean its just depressing! and good guys die too!! I mean lupin, fred (one of the best characters), tonks, etc. I mean little kinds and people shoudn’t have to read that kind of thing! that teaches people that death is ok and natural! I mean who WANTS to read about that kind of thing?
Harry Potter doesn't teach that death is okay - in fact, quite the opposite. When they do pass away, people mourn their deaths, but it's an important lesson - death does come, and when it does, you have to be prepared for it. Good people in the world die - everyone has to at one point. It's important for people to understand that no one will live forever, and you need to accept death with open arms. That was probably one of the biggest messages it sends - death happens, it's difficult and horrible, but you'll get through it. Twilight has no deaths, which isn't true in real life - research wars, the good guys had to give up their life to ensure everyone's safety. They didn't come out all happy dappy because they're good and therefore are immortal.
3.TORTURE. in HP, people torture other peopls JUST FOR FUN! thats WRONG! Its going to teach people that torture is okay and it’s not! I mean like Voldemort and Bellatrix like to cause people pain an dHAVE FUN KILLING PEOPLE! Thats so horrible that they like get turned on by killing people. Thats SO HORRIBLE AND WRONG! Not to mention depressing and WAY 2 DARK! Thats not okay for people to read. And for the death thing see reason 2.
Exactly - it's not saying that killing is okay. Voldemort and Bella are depicted as evil and non-empathetic, which is bad and no one should aspire to be like them. Harry is good, brave, and loyal - someone everyone should try to be like. Killing and torturing is horrible, but people do exist like that in the world - serial killers, kidnappers, etc. People who have no empathy for living creatures. But there also people who fight hard to capture those evil people. Basically, evil people exist in the world and if you turn on the news, you can see that, but sometimes you need to hold on to hope, hope that everything will be better and those people will get what they deserve.
4.Its british. British stuff is never as good as american stuff. America is the top country in the world. I mean, im not trying to brag or anything, but its just a fact that america is the most advanced and powerful country in the world. Twilight is American, Harry Potter is british. Therefore, by logic, Twilight is better. And just because Twilight is american automatically makes it higher quality, just because its America, no matter what you think of the book. I mean, British people can be really bad, like they fought against us and LOST in WW2, right? So seriously, they just aren’t as good.
That doesn't make any sense. America is in a 17 trillion debt, we have no health-care plan, we're close to bankruptcy, I believe we have the most unemployed people, and we are patriotic enough to help people while our own country is being shoved into the dirt. We're not in a good shape and we're not really "the top country in the world" anymore and we won't be especially at the rate we're going. So no, we're not really better than British people - and may I remind you that America didn't exist before and the people in the colonies were British. And no, something being from America does not mean it's higher quality. We buy things from China that are cheaper quality, but if you mean music and such, that's untrue and relies on what you're preferences are. ALSO, no, we did NOT fight Britian in WW2 - we fought GERMANY because of Hitler, and they lost NOT becuase they sucked, but because Hitler was bad and no one was on his side.

But basically to go along with that, BECAUSE its britis, the stuff is confusing. like they use slang and stuff that doesnt make sense to ANYONE BUT BRITISH PEOPLE! and like the stuff they talk baout that is british and hard to understand. You shouldn’t have to use a fucking SLANG DICTIONARY when reading!!!!
I guess it is confusing, but you get use to it pretty quickly. "Blimey" "Prat" "Snogging" etc. is strange, but by book three you have to be somewhat use to it unless you have difficulty with those sorts of things. Also, American people use slang too, but the reason everyone knows is because English is a dominent language and most people learn the slang too because it's used often.
6. The movies are crap. So like they’re made by an american compeny, but why the hell do they have funny accents? I hate watching movyes and not being able 2 understand the people in them!!!! I mean siriusly, WTF?! I always have to rewind and use subtittles when I watch the movies, because of the funny accents! I mean cant the actors talk normally? whyd they get weirdos for the parts anyways? They should of gotten normal people who can FUCKING TALK RIGHT!!!!!
This made me laugh SO hard! One, they ARE talking normally. They're from Britian, they have accents and so do we! In fact, we use to speak like that too before our accents became altered and such. French people have accent, Australian people have accents, etc. In fact, if you go to Britian and talk to people there, they think you're the one with the weird accent and sometimes they can't understand you. Us Americans aren't special, dearie!
7. The chracters are ugly. Hermione is a frizzy haired dork. Luna is a weirdo and dresses like shes color blind. Rons a ginger, and we all know that gingers don’t have souns, thank to South Park… JUST KIDDING! That part was a joke, of course, but still, he’s ugly. Harry is just a weirdo wit glasses and a freakish scar.
Very shallow, aren't we? One, people aren't always good-looking in the world. Some people aren't attractive, but have many beautiful traits. Judging someone by their outer appearance is stupid and shallow. Hermione has frizzy hair, so? She's the brightest witch of her age! Luna shows people that it's okay to be whatever you want to be - you don't have to dress a certain way to fit in. You should be yourself always, no matter what anyone else says. Ron isn't suppose to be good-looking, but he's very loyal. Harry - people have glasses in the real world, if you didn't know. All our presidents had glasses, does that make them weirdos too? His scar is IMPORTANT to the plot, which you find out in the first chapter of the first book - and so what? People have blemishes, we can't all have "cold, flawless, Adonis-like faces."
And Dumbledore is creepy too. He has a beard, beards are creepy! And he has a mustache too, that makes him look like hes evil!! We all know beards are creepy, and he wears a freaking DRESS! THATS SICK, MEN DO NOT WEAR DRESSES!!!!!!!! Also hes gay. thats creepy because hes so old! Old peopla rent supposed to be gay! nothin against homosexals, btw.
Beards and moustaches don't define evil. People have beards because they prefer them - Zac Efron has a beard, Joe Jonas has one, Morgan Freeman has one - they're all creepy, I assume? He doesn't wear a dress, it's called a robe which EVERYONE in the Wizarding World wears. It's like a culture, and in their culture, they wear robes to define themselves as wizards. Also, homosexuality doesn't have an age, but most people find out when they're younger. Dumbledore was gay when he was younger and grew up to be gay too. Homosexuals grow up - making them old. Dumbledore wasn't old all his life.
8.the villains are unrealistic. WHat kind of sadistic creepy fucking moron kills people and tortured them FOR FUN?!??! WTF?! And besides, its soooooo unrealistic i mean a REAL villain (like the Volturi) wouldn’t be considerate enough to wait until the end of the school year before enacting their evil plot. thats just unrealistic. And they’s just creepy losers with bad hair in cloaks. Yuk.
VILLIANS - he HAS to be creepy and sadistic. He NEEDS to kill people in order to be evil! That's what BAD people do - it IS realisitic for him to be un-empathetic. Look up serial killers if you don't believe me. The Volturi aren't villians, they're just government - and they do stupid things too. Like for example, calling dozens of people into their tower and eating them - wouldn't ANYONE notice the group going in and never coming out? What about killing Bella - who knows if she'll become a vampire. Why wait until she blurts it out to someone?The only reason Voldemort did that was because he needed time in GoF - he had to gain a body and so I believe he was finding ways to make that happen. If he ONLY acted in the end of the year - all the teachers would know what's up and catch him in the act. Making Moody do it throughout the year is smart because no one suspects anything and Voldemort could also be informed of any activity in the castle. He can also know what type of enchantments are put up and taken down, what people are there, etc. which would help him make a better plan.

No one has tried to "lord it over" and if you mean trying to prove it better is rude - you just tried proving Twilight is better, which makes you "rude" as well. It's called an opinion - some people like something, while others don't. Get use to it because that's how it works in the real world.
