Harry Potter Question

hey so do we know why James came out of Voldemorts wand before Lily?

Don't refer to the movie as they came out at the same time.

In the Fourth book , when Harry and Voldemorts wands met/clashed as 'brothers' and created the 'prior incantatem', and ghosts of those voldemort killed came from his wand in reverse from Wormtails hand and Cedric, till Lily but she was supposed to come out before James, as she was killed last protecting Harry...but she didnt , Why?

just so i know that you know i'm not going crazy.....i guess it's just a misprint but this is what i've got in mine....."The smoky shadow of a tall man with untidy hair fell to the ground as Bertha had done, straightened up, and looked at him...and Harry, his arms shaking madly now, looked back into the gostly face of his father. } 'Your mother's coming...' he said quietly. 'She wants to see you...it will be alright ...hold on...' } And she came ... first her head then her body...a young woman with long hair, the smoky, shadowy form of Lily Potter blossomed from the end of Voldemorts wand."

Harry Potter  best answer

Visitor said:

In the first edition of the Fourth HP book [Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire] a mistake was made by JK Rowling herself.

In this version, James indeed emerges from the wand BEFORE Lily does.

As James appears from the wand, he says to Harry, "Hold on, your mother wants to see you."

A 9-year-old British girl, Laila Banjar, discovered this error, as reported by the BBC and The Times of London in 2000.

Of course, this mistake was soon rectified.

This is why in the first edition of 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' James comes first while in later copies of the book Lily is the first person to emerge from Voldemort's wand.

I have TWO versions of the book The Goblet of Fire (the original UK version, and the US version) and in both Lily comes out first.

"The smoky shadow of a young woman with long hair fell to the ground as Bertha had done, straightened up, and looked at him... and Harry, his arms shaking madly now, looked back into the ghostly face of his mother.
'Your father's coming...' she said quietly. 'Hold on for your father... it will be all right... hold on...'
And he came... first his head, then his body...tall and untidy-haired like Harry, the smoky shadowy form of James Potter..."

In the US book that's Chapter 34 (Priori Incantatem) pg. 667.
In the UK book it's Chapter 34 (Priori Incantatem) pg. 579.

*I got the UK version of the book at the time that it came out, so it's not a newer version, it's pretty old. I got it the day it came out. It's obviously, hard cover. And the other one, the US version I got it maybe a year later, because it's paperback. But in both the order is right. I don't know why it might be wrong in your book, it's strange.

You're right, they came out in reverse, the latest Voldemort killed till the first he killed
So Lily should be for James.
So it's probably a mistake since James died before Lily, trying to protect her and their baby Harry.
I believe it was correct in my book

In Harry Potter and the goblet of fire Harry says Exparrlius the same time Lord Voldermort says Avada Kadvara . This is the order they came in:

1.Lily Evans Potter
2.James Potter
3.the Riddles gardner
4.Cedric Diggory

Harry saw all of tese people be killed by lord volermort this is the order he saw them being killed by:
.James Potter
2.Lily evans Potter'
3.the Riddles Gardener
4.Cedric Diggory

1so it would have made since to put it in the order of wo Harry saw being killed first.so it sould be

1.James Potter
2.Lily evans Potter'
3.the Riddles Gardener
4.Cedric Diggory

But its not.in te book AND movie its tis order

1.Lily Evans Potter
2.James Potter
3.the Riddles gardner
4.Cedric Diggory

I know its weird!!!!

You have that backwards. Cedric came out first, followed by the gardener, then Bertha, then Lily and James.

I think it's because Harry Potter's dad is rude because it's supposed to be lady's first! The author might just have did that on purpose because she wanted Harry Potter fans to ask questions and talk about the answer.

Because out of Voldemort's wand was coming all the people Voldemort had killed that Harry knew or had seen. James died first so he came out first. Then Lily, then the old man (Harry had seen him in the dream), and lastly, Cedric.

Book-Freak said:
In the AMERICAN version of HPGOF James comes out first but in the BRITISH verision Lily is first.
This is because of an editing mistake. The book came out in Britian first and before it could come out in America there had to be some changes made.
These were mostly language changes because British English and American English have slight differences.
For example, Fringe and Bangs. The both mean the hair that goes across your forehead , but most American's wouldn't have a clue that Fringe meant that, and Britians wuoldn't know that Bangs means that.
The mistake with James and Lily is simply because JK and her editor were very tired and trying to work to a deadline.
I got this information off JK's website

It's because James was killed first.
He fought Voldemort trying to protect Lily and Harry. Voldemort killed James, then Lily died trying to protect Harry. Then came Frank Bryce the muggle, who was killed more recently, then Cedric Diggory who had just been murdered.

I think it was because James's death was the same as the others but Lilly's was a sacrifice for love so it was stronger and more powerful so it needed time to build up the power and the time for her body to form.
