"A Look Back at HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE" (2005)

With the fifth installment of the HARRY POTTER movie franchise ("HARRY POTTER and the Order of the Phoenix") about to be released, I thought this would be a great time to look back at its predecessor - "HARRY POTTER and the Goblet of Fire". When the latter was first released in November 2005, many had hailed it as the best of the four HARRY POTTER movies. I wish I could have agreed with that assessment of Goblet of Fire. I really wish I could. But . . . I can't. I'm sorry, but I consider "Goblet of Fire" the weakest of the four movies.

Unlike others, I had no problems with the screenwriter cutting out some of the material from the novel (however, I do regret that Newell and Kloves had cut out the Dursley scenes - which were the best in the series. In fact, all of the first four novels had been edited for the movie screen. However, "Goblet of Fire" did so in a manner that left the movie filled with plotholes:

Ginny's Story:
Chapter 1: Aftermath

August 1st, 1997: It was Bill and Fleur's wedding. Everything was just fine until Kingsley's patronus came to tell everyone that the Minster of Magic was dead and that the Death Eaters have taken over the Ministry. Death Eaters suddenly arrived and everything was chaotic. Ginny's brother Ron and his friends Harry Potter and Hermione Granger disapperated. Ginny and her family were questioned about Harry, but luckly they were not harmed.

After the Wedding Guests and Death Eaters had gone, The Weasley's were left to clean up the mess that was made. Fleur was weeping quietly while her new husband Bill, the eldest Weasley, was comforting her. Ginny Weasley and her twin brothers Fred and George were talking about what had just happened.

Ginny: I can't believe it. Minister is dead! what will happen to us?

Fred [angry]: Dunno sis, but it ain't going to be pretty I can tell you that! especially since Harry is now on the run and they're after him!

black licorice sticks, or colored fruit chew licorice-like sticks
white chocolate candy melts

Instructions
Melt the white chocolate according to the instructions.
Take a licorice stick and dip it into the white chocolate to make a wand handle.
Set the hollow licorice stick over a wooden skewer so the chocolate handle hardens straight at room temperature.

These can be frozen, just thaw before serving.

Chocolate frogs

Ingredients:

1/2 pound Mercken's green chocolate discs (see Shopping Note)

Directions:

Melt chocolate in a glass bowl in the microwave on low defrost setting for 2 1/2 minutes. Remove and stir the chocolate. Microwave again on low defrost for 30 seconds. Remove and stir. Repeat until the chocolate is melted.

Ingredients
frog or toad chocolate candy mold
white chocolate candy melts
peppermint candy flavoring oil
(chocolate chips or other chocolate)

Instructions
You can use food coloring to make the white candy melts any color you'd like, since green would be appropriate. Since I had so much brown chocolate already, I decided my Peppermint Toads would be white.
Melt the white chocolate according to the instructions.
Use a toothpick to add peppermint oil drop by drop until you have the desired taste. Be careful, since the peppermint oil is VERY strong!
Spoon the flavored chocolate mixture into the candy mold and let harden in the refrigerator.
When solid, pop out your toads and add the eyes with a small paintbrush and melted chocolate chips.
These can be frozen, just thaw before serving.

Your favorite devils food cake recipe, made into cupcakes
black string licorice

Instructions
Bake your cupcakes according to the instructions, without using paper cup liners.
Slice off the top of the crown of each cupcake so that when it is turned upside down, it sits flat. This gives you more of a cauldron shape than a cupcake shape.
Cut the black string licorice into small pieces and poke them into the cupcakes as cauldron handles.

Ingredients
dark chocolate
dry chow mein noodles

Instructions
Melt your chocolate until smooth.
Stir in noodles until the mixture is thick enough to hold together.
Spoon bite-sized clusters onto wax paper and let harden in the refrigerator.
If you want longer-lasting candy, melt 1 stick cooking paraffin per 12 oz of chocolate before adding the noodles.
These can be frozen, just thaw before serving.

1 Egg White (buy ready pasteurised egg white from the shop, rather than just using raw eggs)
12 oz Icing Sugar (powdered sugar)
3 drops Peppermint Essence
Liquorice Laces

Instructions
Whisk egg white until frothy.
Beat in sugar and essence.
Knead well.
Shape into spheres by rolling between palms.
Wrap in liquorice laces.
Cool in fridge. :)

lollipops (Way-Sour Charms Blow Pops, Dum Dums, etc)
Pop Rocks (whatever flavor you choose)

Instructions
Remove the lollipops from their original wrappers.
Open the Pop Rocks and pour them in a shallow bowl.
If your lollipops are not sticky enough on their own, dip them quickly in plain water.
Roll the lollipops in the Pop Rocks until they are completely covered.
Wrap them in plain wax paper squares.
The Pop Rocks immediately start losing their "pop" when in contact with the moisture in the lollipops, so assemble these as close in time to serving as possible for the best effect

You will also need a clear plastic bowl (25 cl) per guest

Instructions
Make up two of the jellies according to the packet instructions, using lemonade instead of water for stage two.
Fill the bowls 1/3 full, then leave until set.
Position two or three bugs in each bowl.
Make up the other two jellies, again using lemonade.
Allow to cool for a couple of minutes and then pour over the first layer and bugs.
Allow to cool for an hour, and then decorate with an additional bug on the top.

BUTTERBEER

Servings: 4

Ingredients:
1 cup light or dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons water
6 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
3/4 cup heavy cream, divided
1/2 teaspoon rum extract
Four 12-ounce bottles cream soda

In a small saucepan over medium, combine the brown sugar and water. Bring to a gentle boil and cook, stirring often, until the mixture reads 240 F on a candy thermometer.

Stir in the butter, salt, vinegar and 1/4 heavy cream. Set aside to cool to room temperature.

Once the mixture has cooled, stir in the rum extract.

In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar mixture and the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Use an electric mixer to beat until just thickened, but not completely whipped, about 2 to 3 minutes.

To serve, divide the brown sugar mixture between 4 tall glasses (about 1/4 cup for each glass). Add 1/4 cup of cream soda to each glass, then stir to combine. Fill each glass nearly to the top with additional cream soda, then spoon the whipped...

"This afternoon, I was lucky enough to be among 400 other movie fans to attend a test screening of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" in Chicago, Illinois.
Rumors had been circuiting around the internet about this screening, but confirmation that it was Harry Potter didn't come until just before the film started. Since this was a working cut of the film, many effects and scenes were not finished. At least 50% of the special effects were still in the CGI rendering stage, and green screens were visible throughout the film. Also, a number of specific shots were title cards on the screen as placeholders for the full, finished shot or effect.

The film itself focuses on the battle to defeat Voldemort. Three quarters of the film takes place at Hogwarts during the final battle for the school. Hogwarts is torn down around us with the violence brought by the thousands of Death Eaters, army of spiders, giants, and dementors. Even without all of the special effects complete, you can already tell how grand and cinematic the final product will feel. The second half of the "Deathly...

An example of an object you could use.
A handy-dandy Wikihow article on how to make a horcrux, for all you aspiring Dark witches and wizards out there!
Credit: wikihow.com

1. Become an extremely powerful witch or wizard. This will take years of study and sacrifice which lie beyond the scope of a WikiHow article. As a general guide you should not attempt to create a horcrux until you can cast non-verbal killing curses.

2. Locate an object of extreme significance to you. An emotional attachment to the object will aid the process and make it easier on your body and soul.

3. Bathe in the Water of Sorrows and eat 1 cup of paste made from the Herb of Undeath no sooner than 12 hours before committing the principal act of the ritual.

4. Cast the preliminary incantation in the presence of your object. Bring your wand from hanging medial at your side to in front of your heart at approximately 45 degrees from your waist. At this point you should flick the wand in a circular fashion 146 degrees and then whip it outwards to the full extension of your limb. During this last movement issue the following command: "Voces fallacis amicae"

Which spell should I cast?
So I got boeard just a while ago and I saw a picture of Rebbecca so I got this oh so gienus idea it formulated quite like this; "Hay Zanny since you have nothing better to do with your life at the moment why dont you remake Friday HP style and share it with your friends on fanpop?" "Ok good idea Zanny I'll start right away!" Lol my lyrics are probably just as bad as the real version and they're a bit unorginized but I did my best. :P Ok here goes my dignaty and possibly some of your faith in humanity!

Harry Potter in my opinion is not just a story. It's an amazing experience that you can relive over and over again, whitout ever being tired of it.
I first read it when i was in primary school. Not older than eleven, right then. I was in a crisis for a good book, and there it was, delicately lying on a shelve with it's beautiful cover, roaring red. Obviously, it was the fourth tome. But I didn't realise it right then, so i bought it. Once I started it, i couldn't seem to stop. That book went with me everywhere: at school, in the bus, on the train. I couldn't think about anything else, amazed that i was by the story, by the little Harry who's impossible not to love.
This book changed my life. From the chatterer, unfatiguable girl, i became a dreamer. My dreams were full of Wizards and dragons, and after i read Harry potter and the goblet of fire for the 8th time, i decided to purchase the other tomes. Wich i certainly did.
Thanks to J.K.ROWLING,reading became a necessity for me. Thanks to that great author, my imagination is now infinite. Thanks to that amazing woman, i discovered my real passion. Writing.

This is a fan fiction from Harry Potter's oldest son James point of view. Enjoy.

Last night I dreamed about going to hogwarts and beaing made fun of beacause I was not as great as my dad. It is hard beaing a famous wizards dad, everyone expects you to live up to his reputation, and to be just as great as he was. Well, at least I was not Albus who looks exactly like dad,I however, looked like..both of them. My eyes were shockingly green like dads, I had red hair(though not as fiery as my moms), I wore glasses like my dad but my general face structure was like my moms.
As I sat up on my bed I realized this was the day I would go to hogwarts!
My stomac now jumping with a mixture of excitment, nervousness and just plain fear.
what if they hate me I thought to my self I am Harry Potter's freaking first son! I MUST be great I thought again.
So I got dressed in my muggle clothes and tumbled my way down the steps. Once near the kitchen my mouth started to water as I smelled the smell of my moms bakon and eggs. As I sit my self down on one of the chairs my moms says to me "Morning James!"
