Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek is a substitute to traditional treks in the Everest region. You will be exploring different places of Kathmandu namely Durbar Square, the holy Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the renowned Swayambhunath and Boudhanath. These heritage spots hold vast cultural, religious, architectural and antique worth for the Nepalese persons.
Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2,800 m/9,184 ft), trek to Phakding (2,652 m/8,700 ft)
We move towards Lukla on an early morning flight. It will be a daring trip as the Tenzing/Hillary airport is a sheer runway that is essentially hanging towards the side of a mountain. After reaching Lukla, we encounter the rest of our trekking operator and start walking to Phakding.
Our path proceeds ahead together with the Dudh Koshi River. Throughout the journey, we cross numerous suspension bridges and come across numerous villages, monasteries and chortens. We can appreciate a decent view of Mt. Thamserku from Benkar village. Our trekking authorizations will be checked at Monjo as we arrive the Sagarmatha National Park.
A lineage and a measured walk lead us to Jorsale, the last destination till Namche Bazaar. The walk is pleasurable via a river bed and we come across the Hillary Suspension Bridge. As we ascent up to Namche Bazaar, the wonderful highlights of Kwangde Peak, Kusum peak, Kangaru peak, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and many other excellent mountains welcome us.
Now, we move to Khumjung villages, adore the Himalayan panorama from Syangboche or tour the charming streets of Namche Bazaar. We can also explore the Tourist Visitor Center where we can view an assortment of things based the first Everest ascenders and Sherpa ethos.
This exploration will also let us familiar with different flora and fauna life of the Everest region. In Khumjung we can also explore hermitage that communities a yeti scalp! We also ascent up to the runway above Syangboche and relish beautiful views of Kongde, Thamserku and Khumbila mountains.
We move from Namche Bazaar on a trail with slow ups and downs. On the way, we are expected to view Himalayan pheasants, musk deer and Himalayan Thars. We then start moving towards Kyanjuma. From Sansa, we pursue the Gokyo trails and from Mong we get a sight of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawoche and Khumbila mountains. Our trail inclines to Dudhkoshi Khola after which it is a tough climb via rhododendron woodlands earlier than reaching Phorse.
After coming across a bridge on the Dudh Koshi River, we are expected to come head-on with local flora and fauna such as pheasants, mountain goats, and musk deer. Our path moves via jungles, cascades and bridges earlier reaching Dole. We ascent on a stable trail via a scenic edge with sights of Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku mountains. We climb from Luza township and move above the Dudh Koshi River. We start walking over small villages and sandy trails earlier reaching Machhermo.
We climb on a hill and adore sights of the Dudh Koshi valley and Kangtega, Thamserku and Cho-Oyu mountains. Outside the edge the valley extends as the trail comes across via a Chorten and reaches Phangga. We incline to the river bank earlier mounting up to the terminal moraine of the Ngozamba Glacier on a sheer trail. We come across Longpongo, Raboche Tsho and Dudh Pokhari earlier reaching Gokyo.
Day 9: Gokyo Valley: Ascent Gokyo Ri (5357 m/17,570 ft)
We devote another day in Gokyo to familiarise to the high altitude. If the weather is decent, we ascent Gokyo Ri today. From the highest of Gokyo Ri we esteem the Himalayan panorama and the peaceful Gokyo lakes. We also walk to the 4th and 5th Gokyo lakes. The 4th lake is just around 3km north of Gokyo. It is noticeable by high cliffs and Himalayan points expanding above it. We start to hike a little more and reach the 5th lake. An ascent up a close hill will assurance us amazing sights of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu.
We incline on a path with the Dudh Koshi River and permit the initial Gokyo lakes. Just around the corner, we also relish sights of the Cholatse and Taboche points. Our path inclines earlier mounting a hill. After reaching the chorten, we grasp excessive sights of Thamserku, Cho Oyu, and Kangtega mountains.
