The room was bathed in light.
The golden sunrays enlightened everything with their soft but intense glow.
But for Cuddy it didn't matter.
The light was tickling her skin in an almost teasing way and she felt how they reached her skin through the thin fabric of her blouse.
But they were not able to filter down to her.
They had lost that abilitiy long ago.
Though Cuddy could feel the warmth on her skin, she couldn't feel it inside her.
She had forgotten this feeling long ago, gradually, nearly unnoticed, it had been more of a process than a sudden loss.
Like two lovers that had drifted apart, more and more each day, until they themself realized it with that certain melancholy, mixed with a slight glimmer of knowledge and repression and ,finally aknowledged to themselves that the sensation of alienation had been in the air for a long time.
Cuddy sighed and knitted her brow while she was reading the same page over and over again.
All of those numbers and facts had a meaning which she usually got quite easily, but today, somehow it was hard for her to focus her attention on the files in front of her.
She realized more than once that her thoughts began to drift away and she was not able to prevent it. The air was stiffy and thick and did not really help her to dismiss them. Eagerly, she twisted the pen in her hands, hitting the desk in an unsteady rhythym.
"Lisa!"
The announced one turned her head around and whispered: "Hold on a sec." into the telephone before she stared at the person who had dared to disturb her.
It was her mom.
Lisa sighed and removed the telephone from her ear, not without throwing a last glare at her mother.
"What is it?"
"Don't talk to me this way...and put down the phone, it's important!"
The teenage girl balanced the thought of disobeying her mom against the thought of doing what she wanted her to do.
She already knew what she would do and she hated herself for being that obidient.
She mumbled a last sentence into the phone before she replaced it and looked at her mom.
"So...what are the important news?"
"No need to be offeneded...it's about your grandma."
The defiance immidiately made room for anxiety in the blue eyes of the teenager.
"Is she better?"
The woman sighed and Lisa already knew what would follow now.
"I'm sorry honey, but she died a few hours ago, the hospital called me."
She didn't reply.
Her mother came closer and put an arm around her.
"It's ok mom..." she finally broke the silence.
Her mother knew fine well that this wasn't the truth but she could not force her daughter to talk to her about it and so she left her alone.
Lisa stared into space, not able to think clearly.
It was a sunny day and the light made its way through the window, ruthlessly, as if the death of a person didn't matter. Ruthlessly it reached her skin and covered it with warmth.
That day Cuddy had decided to become a doctor. And that day the sun had began to lose the ability of warming her.
"Cuddy?!"
A male voice brought her back to reality. She winced before her eyes found a pair of piercing ones, blue as ice.
"House...what do you want?"
"Did you daydream about me?" he asked with a smirk on his face.
"You wish!"
"I know!"
Cuddy sighed, she was definitely not in the mood to argue with him.
"Besides this pathetic little game, what do you want?"
"Need your permission on a treetment."
He handed her the chart and waited for her reaction.
He was rather stunned when she grabbed her pen to sign it.
"You sure everything is alright with you?"
He couldn't hide real concern in his voice.
"Yeah, I am..." she replied and gave him a little smile that lasted only a split second.
House grabbed the chart and didn't avert his eyes from Cuddy's.
Even in his eyes was a glimmer of worry, though he never would have admitted it.
And for the first time in a very long time, an unfamliar feeling filled her. Warmth.

A poem I wrote while I was bored. It's about House and his pain. How his pain keeps him from dealing with his problems.
Pain: A House poem.
Pain, It distracts me,
It keeps me from being angry,
It blocks out problems I don’t want to face
Scars vanish without a trace
Pain, It makes me forget
All of my regrets
About those I pushed away
When I really wanted them to stay
Pain, It takes away my fears
Like, if I will be alone the rest of my years
Left here to drown
In all of my secret tears
On pain I am now dependant,
Though it is my assailant
I am as addicted to the pain
As I am to drugs I use to make it no longer remain
Thanks for reading!!! Plz comment!!!
