Disclaimer: I do not own House, the characters or the song. However the story is mine.
I promise you guys will get a happy huddy ending. I have 12 chapters written so far and there is already happy huddy. Let me know what you think :)

It was nearly noon and House still wasn't at the hospital. Cuddy got up from her office chair and made her way to Wilson's office. She knocked and walked in.
"Have you seen or heard from house," she asked while sitting down in the chair across from his desk.
"Not since last night. Why," he asked eyeing her questioningly.
"It's noon and he still isn't here so I was wondering if you knew where he was."
"well he didn't come home last night."
"And your not at all worried about that?" She looked at him confused.
"No because I know where he went last night. It would've been more of a surprise had he come home."
"Care to share where that was?"
"I don't see how that matters."
"If it makes him not come to work it matters."
"So this is just about work?" He eyed her knowing there was another reason behind it. He just had to get her to admit it.
"...of course it is," she said while looking away.
"Sure it is," he said sarcastically.
"I'm just gonna go back to my office," she said quickly getting up. Wilson shook his head watching her practically run out the door.
"Stop toying with him Cuddy." She quickly turned around.
"What are you talking about?"
"You have this hidden agenda to keep him around. By making it seem your not interested, but we both know you are."
"I am not toying with him Wilson!"
"Yes you are. You might try to act happy with Lucas, but you want House. So your trying to keep him around. Either actually move your relationship forward with House or let him go. You already hurt him, what are you trying to do? Extend the pain? Rub it in his face what you have?"
She began to tear up. "No of course not," she said quietly.
"Then pick Cuddy, cause you can't have both of them," he looked at her angrily.
She nodded and quietly left the room.
-----
As Cuddy was making her way back to her office she tried to think of what she should do. Lucas was good for Rachel, but was he good for her too? He was good for her, but was he what she wanted AND needed? Her thoughts were cut short when she saw House checking in. She wiped her eyes and quickly walked over to him eyeing him curiously.
"It's past 12:30 where were you?" He looked at her and noticed her eyes were red. He assumed she had been crying, but he wasn't going to say anything.
"I had a date. Spent the night," he said while walking away.
She stared after him shocked. She couldn't believe what she just heard. He had a date and spent the night! Then again he could just be pulling my leg she thought to herself. At least she hoped it was the latter.
-----
"Were you serious when you said you had a date," asked Cuddy as she walked into House's office.
House had been working on his case for hours and he couldn't seem to figure out what was wrong with his patient. It seemed like whenever he was positive he was right the patient would crash. He hadn't talked to Cuddy since this morning and her barging in here wasn't helping his thought process.
"Yes," House answered shortly.
Cuddy looked down at the floor, suddenly finding her shoes more interesting. House saw this out of the corner of his eye and looked up.
"What," he asked curiously.
"Nothing," she quickly answered. "I'm happy for you," she said in almost a whisper. She suddenly felt like crying and she knew she had to get out of there. She had hoped what he said had been a joke, but she had just gotten a wake up call. She quickly turned around and walked out the door not bothering to look at House. She felt more tears rise when he didn't stop her from leaving. Why had she hoped he had? She knew the reason, but she wouldn't admit it. Damn her, and her damn pride.
House stared at her curiously as she turned around not looking at him. She walked out the door and he didn't stop her. He wanted to, but he knew in order to get past her he needed to let her go. Emotionally and physically. He shook his head and looked at the white board focusing on the patient.

"Don't think I don't think about it,
Don't think I don't have regrets,
Don't think you don't get to me.
Between the work, and the hurt, and the whiskey,
Don't think I don't wonder 'bout,
Could've been should've been all worked out.
I know what I felt, and I know what I said,
But don't think I don't think about it."
