8 Minutes: 42 Seconds Until Detonation
“I’ve always wanted to do that!” Skipper remarked. The team was making their way downstairs when Skipper caught something while checking camera feeds on his phone. “You guys go on! I’ll catch up!” The team stopped and looked at Skipper running back up the stairs. “Skipper! Where are you going?” Kowalski yelled up after him. “There’s someone stuck on the roof! I’m going to go help him!” Skipper answered. The team hesitated, and then made their way down the stairs.
1 Minute: 37 Seconds Until Detonation
With 4 minutes to spare, Kowalski, Private, & Rico were on the 4th floor making their way down. It was going kind of slow though because they’d caught up with the panicking crowd. Everyone was in such a hurry to get outside that the door was constantly getting jammed with too many people trying to get through it at once. It took them 3 more minutes to get down to the ground floor.
By now they’d made their way outside and were sent back behind a police line. Policeman & the Bomb Squad were running around like crazy to get everyone to remain calm. There were also helicopters circling the building. The team was too busy looking for Skipper. They couldn’t find him anywhere. Then they met back up again.
“You couldn’t find him?” Kowalski asked. “Not me.” Rico answered. “Oh dear, what if he didn’t make it out? The bomb will go off any second!” Private said worriedly. Kowalski’s eyes went dark. “Um…guys…why would there be someone on the roof?” Kowalski asked slowly & suspiciously. The team looked at each other. They all knew that Skipper had been tricked. They began getting to the police line as fast as they could. “How could we have been so stupid!?” Kowalski asked his teammates, and his self. It became really hard to hear each other the closer they got.
Kowalski made his way to a policeman that was guarding the line. “Excuse me! Sir!” The cop put a hand on his chest to keep him from going any further. “Sorry, you can’t go in.” Kowalski began to panic. “But…but…there’s someone still in there!” The cop just looked at him with an annoyed expression. “And you really think there’s something you can do about it? Besides, we’ve got men on it. If there was anyone in that building they would’ve found him by now.” Kowalski grabbed him by the shirt collar. “You listen to me! My friend is up there & is probably trapped on the roof! You need to get those helicopters closer!”
The cop was now really angry. “Look! If there was anyone on the roof a helicopter would’ve gotten him off by now! I haven’t heard anything over the talkies about anybody on the…” The cop was cut off when the building exploded.
