I think it will be cool to do one more story in just Dawn's point of view. This will also start where the last story left off. It will also be a long one. So that said, I hope you enjoy!
I start to worry if my friends will tell Paul what I said. Then I realize that they won't have to. I hear footsteps on the rocks behind us. Then, I hear the voice of a boy dealing with both anger and saddness. "So, you love them too?" He said in a shaky voice. We all turn around to see Paul standing four rocks away.
"Paul, I still love you, and want to be with you. I won't leave you!" I tell him, not knowing if it will fix the situation. Paul looks away for a few seconds, then back at me. That moment, was something I thought was nearly impossible. The first time I ever saw Paul in tears! Paul really is different now! May looked at me, probably surprised to see that Paul had changed to the point he would actually show emotions like that.
"I knew those two were trying to interfere with us being together!" Paul shouted as he ran into the woods. I got up to run after him, but my friends stopped me. "From what I know about the way Paul used to be, if he goes back being like that thinking you want to be with someone else, it's better you avoid talking to him," May insists. I shake my head.
"You don't understand. I didn't change him, and he didn't change me," I start. I sat down again and my friends sat beside me. "We only brought out the softer side of each other. We helped each other see more of the world around us. We only brought out the people hidden deep inside each other." I tell them, continuing with words that weren't thought of before said. I stand up and look down at my friends. "I'm not the same without him, and he won't be the same if I just let him go. We need each other!" I finish before running off to find Paul.
I can here Misty and may calling after me, and I tried my hardest not to turn back. I found Paul in a tree, definitely upset. I take a deep breath before talking to him. "Paul, you know I wouldn't leave you, right?" I say as I try to climb up the tree. "Leave me alone, please!" He says shakily, still not looking up. I could hear the saddness in his voice, and I could see the saddness in his eyes the moment he looked into mine.
I sat on the branch beside him, but he only turned away. "Paul, I lo..." I cut off, noticing that those words alone would be no help. I try to think of something to say, but I couldn't think of anything fast enough, and he dropped out of the tree. He didn't run away though. I climbed out. to notice why he didn't run.
"If you love someone else, this won't work. I guess I'm just not right for you," He said, starting to sound more angered than upset. He started to walking away but I grabbed his arm. "Paul! Are you deaf!" I yelled, now angry that he won't listen. "I love you! I only said what I said earlier... I never said that I loved them more!" I insisted, changing my words mid-sentence. Paul looked at me, surprised to see me so desperate for this to keep going.
Paul's brother must have known he was here, as he had walked up only moments before, and now looked very surprised too. "I would never leave you. I love you too much to do that," I said, nearly whispering now. Paul looked away, and I was almost in tears, knowing this could be it. Paul seemed to just slip away. He walked a few steps away, then stopped. "This won't last," He said. He walked past his brother, and was gone.
I walked over to the nearest tree and leaned against it. I slid down into a sitting position. The tears just wouldn't stop. I could hear Reggie talking to Paul. After that he walked up to me. "I'm sure he will be back. He's just a bit upset," He told me. Then Reggie walked in the direction Paul had went. "It would have lasted..." I whispered, still knowing Paul can't hear me. Then my friends showed up. May was the first to say anything.
"Are you still going to be able to go to that contest later today?" She asked. I sighed knowing I might not win like this. "May! Paul just left her! Show some sympathy!" Misty shouted, trying to correct a mistake that didn't matter. "I'll be fine guys, I just need to get some training done with the marill I caught," I told them. We walked home.
**********During Training**********
"Alright Marill! Swift! Just like I taught you!" I commanded. The blue mouse like pokemon jumped up into the air and started spinning. Star shaped blades from the move went flying outward hitting the bubbles from a previous bubble beam. Marill started getting dizzy and fell over for the landing. "Marill..." I sighed. Marill shook his head and got up. "We just have to keep working on it. Don't worry, you'll get in eventually," I told him.
I sat down, starting to remember the day I caught Marill. "Why did you have to leave me...?" I whispered to the boy who was nowhere in sight. I just can't stop thinking about Paul. Marill came up to me and started nudging at my arm. I smiled slightly as I scratched his head a bit. "You did good for now. Here," I said, handing a poffin to Marill. Marill ate the poffin and started jumping up and down.
"You like it don't you?" I said, smiling again. Marill nodded and started running in circles around me. "Save your energy. Your going to need it." I said while giggling a bit. I sighed when Marill ran out a bit to practice his appeal again. He got dizzy and some of the bubbles hit me as he fell to the ground. I ran over to help him. "Keep trying. You'll get it eventually," I said as I picked him up. "How about we try something else?" I asked him. Marill nodded and ran out into the field.
"Try using bubble beam while still on the ground! Try swirling it above you! Then use swift and hit the bubbles as you go up!" I commanded loudly so Marill could hear me. Marill attemped it but fell backwards and hit himself with falling bubbles. "Silly. I guess we have to adjust the plan," I said while shaking my head slowly. I started to walk over to help Marill, but he got up before I could reach him. "Alright, we should keep going," I told him. I thought quickly of a plan. "How about swirling the bubbles with your tail?" I asked. Marill thought for a second then nodded.
I watched as Marill attempted the appeal. I cheered once he landed after all the bubbles had been popped. Marill ran over to me and jumped into my arms. I giggled a bit. "Great job! You really did great!" I said proudly. I didn't notice the footsteps of someone walking up behind me, until I heard Kenny's voice.
"Wow Dawn! Your Marill is awsome!" Kenny said as he walked over to me. I turned around quickly and tried to look happy. "But can he beat my Empoleon?" He teased. Kenny, leave me alone. Paul just left me because of you! I wish I had said that. "Thanks! I can't wait to see you at the contest!" I told him while trying to keep a smile. Then I broke. I looked down and sighed. "Dawn, is something wrong?" He asked me. He sat down beside me and put his arm around me.
"I don't know how all this happened. He wouldn't listen," I whispered. Kenny started to look a bit confused. "What are you talking about? Who wouldn't listen? What's going on?" Kenny questioned me. I was almost in tears by this point. "Paul left me because he thought I wanted to be with someone else. I tried to stop him, but he wouldn't listen," I replied quietly. I tried to hold back my tears, but they just poured out even more. At this point I was in Kenny's arms, crying until there was no tears left.
"Sometimes it just doesn't work out the way you expect it to. It takes a while to get over it but you'll find the way eventually. Trust me," He told me. I moved away a bit, but Kenny kept his hand on my shoulder. "I told him I wasn't going to leave him, but he wasn't listening to me," I informed him. "I just don't understand. It might have worked if he would have just listened to me," I finished.
"Not all relationships last. You just have to keep looking for the perfect one," Kenny said as he moved closer to me. "Maybe even a guy like me would work for you," He added. I pushed his arm away and then got up and stood a little ways away. "You... you really do want me! You asked me to dance before because you wanted to seperate me from Paul!" I shouted angrily. I ran a few more feet away before turning around to grab my stuff. "I never want to see you again!" I yelled. I ran back to Twinleaf town to make sure I set things straight with Barry.
**********In Twinleaf town, at Barry's house**********
"Okay, I'll just get right to it," I told my friend with a sigh. Barry looked at me weird when I stopped smiling, then he realized that I wasn't visiting for a good reason. "Barry, I love you, but I belong with..." I cut off as I remembered Paul and Barry's last battle. It hadn't ended so well, and I was worried to mention Paul. "You have someone else? Who though?" He asked.
I took a deep breath before answering. "Paul," I answered. Then I saw Barry's jaw drop at the sound of hearing that I love Paul. "How? Don't you remember how he was always mean to me and Ash?" Barry questioned me. "I still remember, but he's different now," I replied. I looked at him and noticed he wasn't angry. "I understand Dawn, and I will try to be more careful from now on," He said, starting to smile again. He hugged me and said one more thing, "I just want you to be happy."
**********At the contest (Appeals round)**********
I was sitting alone and May walked up to me. "Are you okay?" She asked. I sighed and kept my head down to hide my tears. "No. Why would I be? Paul left me," I replied. I noticed Zoey walking up to me. I can't keep spreading the word that me and Paul are no longer together. Then again, Zoey didn't even know me and Paul were together. "You and Paul! Together? How did it even start? I wouldn't have thought he would even show love to anyone!" Zoey shouted.
"He's different now," I told her. Then a girl came in and walked up to me. "Dauhwn, H-It's youwr tuhrn now," The girl said with an odd and breathy British accent. "Alright," I said with a sigh. I got up and walked out into the open. That's when I noticed Paul in the crowd. I kept going though. I can't just give up on something just because I am upset. Marill's appeal was a success. The crowd was cheering as Marill finished his appeal.
I walked backstage again as Kenny came out for his Empoleon's appeal. Zoey seemed to be a little impatient. "So, how is he different?" She questioned me. I sat down and stared at the ground. "He... he is a lot nicer now. He actually knows the meaning of love!" I responded. Zoey looked confused for a few seconds, but then she got over it. I try to think of something to add to what I said previously, but I really can't.
The room seemed empty for a second, then I saw something. It was almost like a dream, but I wasn't asleep. Like my thoughts were so clear that they were showing me what I was thinking. I got up to talk to Paul, who actually wasn't there. I looked around, and didn't see May, Zoey, or even Kenny, who had just walked in. All I said was, "Why?" Paul looked up at me, as he had been looking at the floor before. "I was only worried you would leave me first. I still love you," He told me. Before I could respond, May interrupted my thoughts.
"Dawn... Dawn... DAWN!" May shouted while shaking my shoulder. My mind cleared to see my friends standing around me. I was still sitting, unlike me in my visions, but I had spoken. "What was that all about?" Kenny asked. I didn't know at first what he meant, but eventually I realized what it was. I looked around to make sure it was just my imagination before saying anything. "H-he's stuck in my mind. I just can't stop thinking about him. I still love him..." I said, trailing off near the end. "He'll realize his mistake someday. You just have to he patient," May told me. I sure hope so!
***********Final battle round and awards**********
Now I'm up against Kenny in the final round. I am really hoping to win, but it might still be difficult. Kenny sends out Empoleon, and Empoleon definitely looks excited about the battle. You've got this Dawn. You can win. "Marill! Spotlight!" I call as I send out Marill. Bubbles burst outward from the seals I used. I see Kenny standing more straight than usual. He looked extremely confident. Then I realized his plan. That little dumby! He broke up me and Paul so my emotions would prevent me from winning! I won't let that happen!
"Alright Empoleon! Use Metal Claw!" Kenny commanded for the first move. Empoleon attempted the attack, but I was ready. "Counter with Rollout!" I shouted. Rollout knocked Empoleon backwards. Points were deducted from Empoleon's score. "Use Drill Peck!" Kenny commanded. I wasn't going to let that happen. "Dodge and use Brick Break!" I yelled over the cheering of the crowd. Marill successfully obeyed. Empoleon was already looking tired. "Now Marill, use Swift!" I commanded. "Dodge it Empoleon!" Kenny shouted. Empoleon failed to dodge, but instead, just knocked away the small stars. "Now use Hydro Cannon!" He added.
I wasn't going to give in. This was my battle! It is my Contest! "Counter with Rollout!" I commanded fiercely. Marill used Rollout, and because the moves were even, there was an explosion. Marill was hit hard, but was still left standing when the smoke cleared. Empoleon was breathing heavily from tiredness. "Come on Empoleon! We've got this! Don't give in!" Kenny half cheered and half commanded. I was surprised by how easy this was, because moments later, it was over. Empoleon collapsed and all his points were removed from the board.
I couldn't believe it. I had actually won! I accepted the ribbon and walked over for a few pictures. I then noticed Paul running up to me. "Dawn, I only came to see you..." He started. "Because I still love you! I made a huge mistake when leaving you. I still want to be with you!" He told me. I went wide eyed from surprise. "But why did you leave me then?" I asked him. "Because I was afraid that you would leave me first," He answered. I took a few steps forward so that I was right in front of him. "Thank you for coming back. I would have never made it this far without you. I love you!" I replied. "I love you too!" He admitted. We kissed, and everyone cheered.
I start to worry if my friends will tell Paul what I said. Then I realize that they won't have to. I hear footsteps on the rocks behind us.
